A few corrections: The pistols and rifles being used at the same time is only there because it would be dumb for players not to have a backup weapon. The Lewis gun was in use by the British army until 1942 The MG-15 was used during the end of the war as a last-ditch light machine gun. The Winchester 1897 was still in use by WW2 and Korea. But other than that spot on.

Your welcome man. You should do the same for BF1, which I have much more experience in. I'd love to help you out on that one.
@JackClockerinos6 жыл бұрын
Also, the Thompson in the game is not actually a specific model of Thompson, but an amalgamation of both the M1927 (which it is named after) and the M1A1. so technically, the drum magazine is still accurate since you could just say that any Thompson used with a drum mag is an M1927, but it still uses the model of the M1A1. With the 1903 scope stripper clip feed, apparently you can use stripper clips with that scope, you just have to put the clip at a really awkward angle that would take time and definitely would not have been employed in the heat of battle. The Johnson rifle that you are thinking of is not the same one as in the game. The game's version may have the name of the 1941 10-round semi-rifle, but the game's version is actually a 1944 version that was made to be an LMG that held 20 rounds. With the PPSH, you could argue that the person loading the magazine simply just loaded only half of the bullets into the magazine. MP-28 was used as a backup weapon by Volksturm units during the last years of the war, same with the previously-mentioned MG-15. It was also in use by police units and Japanese forces a little. You could argue that the Type 100 is a souvenir from an American soldiers transferred from the Pacific front. Also, fictitious names for the SMLE and Mp-28 should not get a mention, as copyright issues and other such things are often the reason they exist, and not for any historical laziness. Same thing with BF1 calling the Beretta 1918 the Automatico in order not to get in a tizzy with the Beretta company.

The Gas Mask is the model of French TC38
@KWyzel6 жыл бұрын
Doesn't matter. Any French units under US/British command at this point of the war would not be using home produced French equipment but rather US and British equipment due to France Falling in 1940. Given that the campaign focuses on D-Day which happened in 1944, the French equipment in game would literally be the same as US Infantry equipment, with MAYBE a rare French helmet or rifle.
@ryancook64526 жыл бұрын
The tc38 was not a good mask and was mainly issued to new recruits. The design had it's routes in the first world war and was not as popular as the American masks being given to them post d day, mainly old mask m1 and m2s which have a lower breathing resistance and a wider field of view. They were less prone to leak as the cellofilm lenses on the tc38 wore out in sunlight and became brittle. Also, the mask being worn appears to be the "civilian" tc38 with the smaller diameter filter intake.

You could get PPSH-40s in the campaign which first of all were not really used by Germans, only if a German soldier lost his weapon and needed a weapon to temporary replace it until got another German weapon with plenty of ammo for it. Second, the PPSH-40 is a Russian weapon and who in their right mind would transport a PPSH-40s across Europe to France and don't even have much ammo for it since its Russian the caliber was different and was never made by German factories.

I think I found a couple issues with you finding issues. 1: even well maintained m1s required a bump to the op rod to chamber rounds due to wear and tear on the single spring inside. 2: bazookas were commonly issued to two man teams, but there is army doctrine and precedent for singular usage. 3: the 1941 Johnson rifle and Johnson LMG are two different guns altogether, one using a box mag and the other a fixed rotary mag, but overall the same concept, and both were used in the pacific. 4: trench guns were not common issue, but the Marine Corps often made use of old guns such as the Springfield and M1897 due to lack of priority and funds compared to the army. Its also worth noting the springfield sniper shown resembles the marine variant.

Yes but these "Classes" didn't exist in WWII, there is a reason the phrase "Standard Issue" exists. Standard Issue equipment made production easier, and streamlined and this game doesn't represent that in any capacity with all these incorrect weapons and equipment on various "Classes" yes it is just a game but that's no excuse because plenty of other games have made realistic recreations of WW2 combat and still made them rather fun.

This is pretty spot on, but the 1911 was in fact used in large numbers and was the service pistol at the time, so it was in no way rare. However, it definitely did not have an extended mag. Also, the Lewis Gun was still used in WW2, although in much smaller numbers than in WW1, and was mostly replaced by the Bren, but was still in use by the British. The Winchester 1887 was still in use as well. Otherwise, like I said, pretty spot on. A few of the things here can be excused by saying "Oh, it's for gameplay reasons", but with stuff like the M1 Garand reload and the 7 round clip on the Kar98K, it truly shows how little they cared about the authenticity of this game.

M1's bolt doesn't slam forward all the time, dirty or not. Either you didn't push the clip all the way in during intense combat, or the spring is worn and needs extra friction. Also, Lewis gun went back into production after the brits lost most of their equipment during the evacuation. But they would never bring a skeleton lewis gun into combat lol. You need to clear the chamber before putting a new mag into the b.a.r when it's empty. Trying to find accuracy in this game is like finding clean and new books in a town library
@viperish61036 жыл бұрын
Yes, but the bolt was very sensitive so it was kinda rare for the bolt to not close automatically but you are right
@mattshap97316 жыл бұрын
In a week old town library, that is. The m1 bolt failure would be equivalent to playing a Vietnam game and every 5 shots with an m16 you would have to manually clear the chamber. Yes, it happened, but it wasn’t standard or intended function. Giving players the lewis gun would still be rarer than a bren, considering production and the fact that they were used only when a bren was not available, and a unit could submit an equipment acquisition request if they wanted their lewis updated to a bren, it just took time and wasn’t always accepted. Edit: reading the original comment again, I misread “accurate” as “inaccurate”

Technically, the mg-15 was used as an infantry machine gun at the end of the war due to shortages on the mg34 and 42. Most of the airforce was gone at that point, and they had a lot of them not being used. The vacuum had to be filled somehow.

This is not correct. There are only some hist. pics of some SdKfz.251 MTW' with triple mounts of the MK151 MK airial gun as a stopgap for an AA weapon against the fighterbomber plague for this MTW. In some emergency cases airial gunners of grounded JU-87, JU-88 and ME-110 planes outboarded their guns for using them to defend their airfields or as part of the so called Luftwaffefelddivision. Here, the shortage of fuel has grounded the planes and their crews were used as Infantry and the airial gunners grapped their guns and ammo for groundfighting. Regular german infantry never used the MG15 as a MG.

From what I recall, the M1941 wasn't "quickly rejected" for being "unreliable" but rather was issued to a few (some number less than four) battalions as a sort of "field test" and then never formerly adopted due to the US military already having weapons that fit it's intended role equally well. The involved Marines in the Pacific Theater even fancied the gun, leading to them using it for quite some time after the testing officially ended. In any case; Melvin Johnson Jr., the gun's designer, was one of the most innovative gun designers of the time, and was later on directly involved in the development of the AR-15, a weapon who's derivatives the US Military still uses to this day as the standard troop's firearm. In fact, the AR-15's bolt design was based off of Johnson's earlier rifles' bolt designs, including the M1941's. The weapon, while being a bit awkward to lug around, was functioning and more than reasonably reliable for the conditions it was in. Saying the Army and Marines rejected it for being "unreliable", when their alternative was the BAR, is disingenuous at best. P.S. Your "incorrection" about the gun not having a 25 round box magazine; and instead it should have a 10 round rotary magazine, is in itself incorrect. You were thinking of the M1941 Johnson Rifle, while the weapon portrayed in the game is an M1941 Johnson Light Machine Gun. Two very different firearms, which not only don't operate the same, but don't even look similar what-so-ever. Kinda goes to show that you went the "bare - minimum" route when it came to researching this video.
@foxspirit17556 жыл бұрын
Melvin Johnson preferred to call it an Automatic Rifle instead of Light Machine Gun. Internally the Johnson Automatic Rifle and Johnson Rifle do function in almost the same way. The main difference to the internals is the addition of a sear and a few other pieces to make the action automatic. The fire selector of the Automatic Rifle had three positions which were automatic, semi-automatic, and safe. Changing to automatic pushed the semi-automatic catch out of the way of the bolt carrier as well as releasing the hammer when the bolt is in battery. In automatic the bolt and bolt carrier are held to the rear of the action making it an open bolt gun. In semi-auto the carrier and bolt stays at the front of the action and fires as a closed bolt. Changing from full- auto to semi-auto would release the carrier and bolt letting it lock into the barrel. The Automatic Rifle retained the internal rotary magazine which could hold 5 more rounds that would feed into the action. It usually came with a 20 round detachable box magazine, but 30 round magazines also existed. The internal magazine meant that 5 more could be added to the 20 in the magazine by use of stripper clip or putting the rounds in one at a time. In the game the magazine looks shorter than it should be. I would say that the magazine appears to be about half the size it should be for a 20 round magazine. The gun was liked because the barrel could be removed making it more compact for use when parachuting. It was also lighter than the alternative. Because most of war is not actually shooting people. It had a bipod but that was usually thrown out. One advantage of having the magazine on the side is that the gun could be fired prone much easier than the BAR. The Marines really wanted to adopt it but having a different gun from the Army would make logistics even harder. Since the Automatic Rifle is so closely based on the Rifle it had about the same reliability. The Rifle was pitted against the M1 Garand and the result was neither was better than the other. The main reason it wasn't adopted was because they were already in the process of fully adopting the M1 Garand. Another reason might have to do with the functioning of the Rifles. It used short recoil which meant that the barrel moves back and forth. This is a problem when you want to use a bayonet because the extra weight could affect its reliability. Melvin Johnson did create a bayonet but it was a simple spike. He did later make improvements such as a mono pod which made barrel changes easier. He also changed the stock and added a catch to prevent the bolt from bouncing out of battery. He also added a gas assist to the barrel to make it more reliable in adverse conditions. In game the sight hole is also much larger but that I would say is for game-play reasons. Although I'm pretty sure the wrong sight hole is used. I believe the top is for volley fire while the bottom is the normal sight.

Some things in here seem to be misleading or untrue. The MG-34 wasn’t just used in air combat (though it was the standard issue machine gun for bomber gunners and such) it was the main machine gun used by infantry early in the war and was later replaced by the MG-42 as an infantry weapon. The MG-34 was still in service along side it’s replacement till the end of the war and was used on most German AFV’s. The M1928 model Thompson submachine gun, at least to my knowledge did see short lived use of its drum magazines early on such as at Guadalcanal and (though I’m not 100% sure about that being true) but was completely opted out for being too loud and cumbersome. Also prior to the U.S. joining the war many M1928 Thompson’s were given to Britain as apart of lend lease for military use and some testing (later to be replaced by the Sten Mk 2) and can be seen with its drum magazine in some photos. The drum magazine being used is mostly a myth from Hollywood propaganda films during and after the war (as well as other films and media). You missed a point about some of the weapons fire rates being either unrealistic or improbable such as with the M1911, Lewis gun, Thompson. The whole Lee-Enfield point looks to have made people even more confused than anything, so here’s the run down on it. The Lee-Enfield is simply named after the man who partly designed it and it’s manufacturer. The “Lee” comes from James Paris Lee who designed the bolt system that is used in the Lee-Enfield rifle as well as its predecessor the Lee-Metford rifle (William Ellis Metford). The “Enfield” comes from RSAF (Royal Small Arms Factory) which was located London Borough of Enfield. People seem to think that the model number is the proper way of saying its name. Which is more accurate but not necessary for most discussions like this video. You have the different variants of Lee-Enfield and then their model, then their Mark designation. There’s a lot of different types of rifles in that most of which are fundamentally if not quite literally the same rifles out of 17 million built. Just calling a Lee-Enfield No 4 Mk II (also a short magazine), and an SMLE No 1 Mk III both Lee-Enfield’s isn’t incorrect. The M1917 did see some use in the pacific and with combat engineers to some degree. Also they can’t hold 10 fucking rounds Sledgehammer. The Johnson Machine gun did have 20-round single stack box magazines. Not 10-round rotary magazines. As for its service life it’s a bit interesting and I suggest reading up on it yourself. The Lewis guns magazine is rotating far too much, the M1 Garand reload should be cutting of the characters thumb, as for all the class incorrections, well this isn’t Red Orchestra 2 it’s the sad shallow just of a once great franchise called Call of Duty which has now even forgotten its namesake. Aside from that seems like you got most of it right anyways so good video.

A lot of these "inaccuracies" stem from the fact that the create a class system (which has been a core aspect of the multiplayer experience since at least Modern Warfare) is a thing that exists and it shouldn't because it's "inaccurate" in a game wherein you constantly resurrect, get promoted every couple of skirmishes. You might as well have also said "soldiers didn't need a prerequisite number of points/kills to call in support" or "soldiers didn't have the means to know the layout of an entire area as a sort of sixth sense map in their hear whilst being able to precisely pinpoint where every single shot they hear comes from"... other than that though yeah you were pretty much spot on barring the M1 Garand and the Gas Mask (and weapon attachments but... y'know... core game mechanic)

Ferret Master24 The thing is, I personally don’t care much for the historical inaccuracies. I’d have more of a problem if they put some of the accuracies in the game. The action of the game would be dulled in service of history. History is obviously important but it should be taken lightly if it gets in the way of the fun gameplay. Battlefield 1 did this perfectly. BF1 was largely accurate, but it changed mechanics to make the game more fun. Quickly reloading the M1 is in service to the gun’s effectivity in gameplay. If they made the reload slightly longer, the gun would be worse in the meta. A bazooka as a sidearm is a COD staple, and since rocket launchers are fun to use, why not let the player use them? The Thompson’s circular mag is in service to the cool gangsters of the past, so why not put it in if it’s not fun? The only argument that makes sense is the player’s ability to change the gender and ethnicity of the soldier. It’s really, really awkward for a WWII game, but it really doesn’t change much of anything in terms gameplay. Fighting them isn’t really immersion breaking either since COD’s fast gameplay overshadows that fact and the player will probably just gloss over it without a problem.

Here are some you could add: 1. Every gun sounds the same to some extent, then tweaked slightly. 2. The lack of recoil on many weapons. 3. The M30 (German) shotty had 3 rounds: 2 pellet rounds and the small one had a rifle round. 5. No M1 Carbine or Ben (that one was on u, tho). 6. The Lewis pan mag doesn't rotate 360, once for each bullet. It fires, rotates after a certain number, stops until that section is empty, and repeats until the full mag is empty. 7. It's unlikely the MG15 had a strap on the mag. 8. How does an allied soldier (ignoring that she's a woman) have a German LMG? Same with the Machine pistol and MP40. 9. The infantry M1911 has 10 in mag, while airborne M1911 has 7 (inconsistent number of rounds). 10. All the bolt/pump action weapons are cycled faster than the average soldier could cycle. 11. Karabin and Toggle action look surprisingly similar. 12. Karabin (likely not real name) has no option for Iron sights. 13. Why does the female sniper not have a scope (unless she's a marksman, which is different from a sniper)? 14. Why does a soldier have a shovel as a secondary? This isn't BF1, soldiers have knives now.
@asubaruthathatesexistance68716 жыл бұрын
For 14, I really don't know. Its not like they got this soldier secondary shovel from TF2 or something like that
@nebiyuesayas56006 жыл бұрын
@@asubaruthathatesexistance6871 well, I say this because in ww2, most American soldiers were issued knives (and/or bayonets). And there is some proof that they would bring their own stuff (remember, privates weren't issued m1911s. Only NCO'S and above were given sidearms. Privates had to get their own). I would think that shovels as weapons was somewhat redundant.
@asubaruthathatesexistance68716 жыл бұрын
@@nebiyuesayas5600 I really agree with the statement "Shovels as weapons was somewhat redundant" cause it makes actual sense in my opinion. Shovels are heavy and blunt objects. Just because shovels are heavy, does"nt mean they do a lot of damage. Now knives and gun bayonets.......... THATS A LOTTA DAMAGE (sry for the stupid flex tape meme at the end)
@nebiyuesayas56006 жыл бұрын
@@asubaruthathatesexistance6871 the quote was fine. Now don't get me wrong - in a pic or emergency, if the only thing you could grab was a shovel, that would work. And it happened in ww1-it happening in ww2 is accurate. It's just not as common as the game is portraying. Of course it's a game, so it's not gonna be "WW2 the simulation", but this one is stretching it a bit more than the others.

A couple of innocent corrections for anyone curious: -The 1911 WAS given to all NCOs (sergeant and higher), not just officers and could often be found in the hands of regular infantry because of changing doctrine allowing more equal distribution of sidearms. -The MP-28 WAS used in the early war fairly extensively due to the lack of production capacity of other more modern machine pistols for the shock troops. It, like the P08, was phased out when the new equipment became available, but could still be seen around due to supply line issues, especially so when the Volksturm was formed and thrown any weapon they could find. -The M1897 shotgun could be found in WW2 also. If it ain't broke don't fix is usually the order of the day with US ordinance doctrine. It was a rare find, but not phased out of service like some of the other entries. -I'm surprised you didn't notice the suddenly modern style BAR reload. The gun in real life is open bolt, meaning that the bolt has to be locked back by simply pulling the charging handle back (and not pushing it back forward) before the magazine can be inserted. In game it appears to be closed bolt, like many modern assault rifles. -The Grease gun doesn't have a bolt handle. it is cocked by pulling the bolt back to the locked position through the ejection port with your fingers. That dust cover is also the safety, as it completely blocks the bolt's movement when closed, preventing the bolt from triggering the next bullet. As said in Fury "Open that there. Good, now you killin. Close it. Good, now you ain't."
@TragicTester0343 жыл бұрын
6 months late but the early M3 Grease guns did have a charging handle and the BAR while yes it was open bolt it had a non reciprocating charging handle which ment that after the bolt was locked open the charging handle could be moved foreward without closing the bolt
@KomradeDoge3 жыл бұрын
@@TragicTester034 This M3 looks like it's a weird amalgamation of the early and late models. And as for the BAR, I know that you would, as procedure for shooting the gun, push the handle back forward to have it in the right spot for the next time you reload, what I'm mentioning here is that they do that AFTER changing the mag, which is opposite what the US taught their BAR operators. On a mag empty change they would pull the charging handle back, then put the new mag in. In the game it looks like they modeled the animation after (hopefully) the STG-44, but more likely it's after a modern AR like the SCAR.

Kar98k and Gewher 98 had 20 round detachable magazine variants produced in limited numbers. (But you're right there was no 7 round magazines). I think the gun they were going for with the "Waffe 28" was the MP-34 a gun produced by Austria for the German Army to allow a secret re-armament. The problem there is that they only semi-accurately model the MP-28 which was replaced quickly by the MP-34. I suppose that having MP-28's still in use would make some level of sense (especially if they're trying to portray last days of the German Army) but it makes no sense why they didn't just have an MP-34. If they really wanted to show last days instead of using the MG-15 they could have used the MG-42 or the MG08 to show desperate they are and should have had the MP3008 an absolute trash gun that was thrown out the factory door into the hands of soldiers like the PPS-43.
