the unalloyed gold is just a metaphor for something pure. but pure gold is very weak and heavy, you want to mix it to make more use of it. using pure gold to represent purity is smart, as it encompasses the whole idea of "purity having drawbacks" the same as being tainted by something else. its a smart allegory for foolishly trying to be perfect. The similar concept was in Bloodborne, where if you were too primal in your thoughts, you became a beast when facing the truth. if you were too proud and thought too much of yourself, you went dumb/vacuous squishy alien, but if you embraced the beasthood in you and slowly gained insight, you could eventually become an outer god yourself.

I have a idea about how Mohg got to easily kidnap Miquela: So, to grow his tree, Miquela needed to water it with his own blood... but then Mohg and the other Sanguine Nobles will spawn out of pools of blood... it was Miquela's spilled blood what allowed Mohg to spawn.

I've been meaning to watch your channel since you released the Daryl Dixon video, but my watch later playlist has thousands of videos in it, so yours were inevitably lost amongst the crowd. However, I've been looking for lore videos to listen to while I work (I'm an overnight janitor) and I'm more than happy to report that I'm late to the party! You make really great stuff here, and I'm excited to see your more recent videos, now that the dlc has been out in the wild for a fair amount of time. I will be honest, a lot of lore guys always suspected Miquella to be villainous. I really didn't want it to be true, so hearing you say that you felt he may not necessarily be a "bad guy" was refreshing. As a fan of berserk, I'm a bit over the whole "everything in dark souls is based on guts and griffith" thing that a lot of lore hunters seem to be unable to move on from. You seem to be different, which is a nice change of pace. Keep on keeping on!

Ok so the formless Mother is likely a "Many Faced God" like in GoT. As far as that lore goes we have the Serpent Bow and Arrows said to be used by The Marias Castilians but also the "Formless Serpents" unknown clandestine agents. Their symbol however is also associated with The Mask of Confidence worn by Marika/Radagan's inner circle and four other very important Demi-Gods ie: Mohg's suspicious engagement ring to Miquella aswell as the broach that secures Melina's riding cloak, most curious though is that this symbol is represented in the blood red draconian serpents that writhe around Messmir body. Theres clearly been a hidden God at play... just like in George RR Martin's previous work. I think this hypothetical god has no overt motivations other than creating life to watch it struggle and change over time. Like Miyazaki kinda lol

No one discusses this but Ranni and Miquella are more than close. Its highly likely they were originally betrothed in an arranged marriage. This may have been what led to The Night of the Black Knives. Miquella lore is everywhere in Liurnia. Miquella is associated with the following environmental items: Miquella and Trina Lillies, Owls, Slumbering Eggs, Nascent Butterflies aswell as the nonuseable Red and Blue cosmos flowers across the lands between AND the Shadowlands as shown in every trailer so far also introducing a gloamy light purple cosmos. So anyways these environmental indicators are all actually paths to Miquella or lore related to him. You can find high concentrations at Raya Lucaria, The Carian Manor grounds, Mirage Rise, The Sage's Cave, and even in small random pockets throughout Calid mostly in the East of the region but atleast in early to mid game these first four areas seem to be the most associated with Miquella by far. He has traces all over of course just never in these concentrations. Theres more Miquella related items in central and northern Liurnia than anywhere else in the game. Even more than in The Haileg Tree or Mohgwyn Palace areas surprisingly.

This is a very interesting theory, but I think the cosmos flowers (didn't know they were called this, very cool) seem to be more closely associated to affinities than to Miquella. The red cosmos flowers appears where a lot of blood is spilled, such as outside of Leyndell, around volcano manor and of course around the mohgwyn gate in consecrated snowfields. The blue ones appear all around places associated with a lot of magic use, like the places you mention but most memory slot towers also has them. It could be connected to Miquella like you say, but I personally don't think so. Very interesting either way!

@@knasigboll At Mirage Rise there are Owls, Nascent Butterflies aswell as other evidence that this was some kind of base of Miquella's. Red and blue cosmos are all around the tower intermingled together. In the trailer we see a purple variant. I do believe they represent "affinities" essentially but clearly they are important to Miquella based on these connections. Duel natures are a given in Fromsoft but i think this DLC will feature some big reveal about the true meaning of Fundamentalism and the importance of twins and all things becoming one and so forth. Perhaps these flowers are a clue. Also I believe it is likely Melina may actually be Messmr's twin though to be honest my only real evidence is their association with fire, possible family connections, the relevance of twins in lore throughout and curiously.. Melina's broach that claspes her cloak has a twin headed serpent motif. Or maybe she is similar to St. Trina an alternate dream form Messmr takes to lead the tarnished to burn the Erdtree. An even whackier theory is that Ranni was previously like Miquella as well and all Empyrians have alternate sex form... Ranni may have been male and Renna was her female form. In Malania's case perhaps she and this is really nuts.. what if she is actually the Blue Dancer but only when she dreams? When she got in touch with and accepted this side of her she became undefeated despite her affliction... thats Fromsofty enough i think lol.

One of the 7 Npc freyja was a Redmane who fought in the battle of aeonia. She taken to the haligtree and healed by miquella. So malenia didn’t fight Radahn to find Miquella because he wasn’t kidnapped yet.

I'm pretty sure that Miquella's ring is at least somewhat related to the Ring of Barahir from Lord of the Rings. It was also known as Aragorn's ring and was described as a ring with no special power but of great symbolic and sentimental value. I even think that the Pendant from Dark Souls 1 was a reference to the ring. Proud are the words, and all there turned to see the jewels green that burned in Beren’s ring. I can't get over how right I was. They called me mad when I looked at the item description for the Bewitching Branch that says Miquella learned to compell people. I wondered how Mohg snuck into the Haligtree and then realized, who said he snuck in there? Miquella could have easily just let him in since he was also an outcast. I thought it was strange that he had a Haligtree to replace the Erdtree, and seemed to abandon the Golden Order despite being it's most obvious inheritor. And then it clicked, this whole Age of Compassion is just a stupid gimmick, he isn't going to fix the Golden Order, he's going to supplant it with his own, and he's assembling an army out of everyone left behind by Marika's Age to do so. He's probably also charmed Malenia, hence her slavish devotion. I had no idea how right I was.

What if the black knives were ment to kill radaghan? It would disqualify Ranni, and if only the soul of radaghan was slain, it would still leave Marika in charge of her own body since Marika and Radaghan are (maybe) two souls inhabiting one body. This would also reintroduce the rune of death, if only partially, back into the elden ring because marika's body is the vessel and the partial rune of death would be inscribed on her body. The only reason godwyn died is because he was out of the loop and saw the black knife assassin's as a threat and defended against them just like he did with the dragons. He just didn't know they were using weapons that could kill him.

The Radahn speculation should note that he was taught gravity magic by an alabaster lord and his swords and attacks pull enemies in, rock sling excluded. That said, it becomes far more likely he used gravity to pull in stars so he could challenge them to combat. In defeat, they are kept at bay since the LB is no longer an easy target with him protecting it. Radahn is the embodiment of hubris, but he managed to make it work until an unstoppable force met an immovable mountain.
