Very cool video. We are a 3 person team. we shoot video and photo and also a long 90 min video mini doc. We shoot 4 cameras one drone and one go pro fan cam. We love having everyone giving congratulations and we also make sure we capture all the older people in attendance as well as the kids. We don't use gimbals.

Thanks for the great video! I just wanted to add: As far as aperture when shooting outdoors, I've found it's best to expose for the bright sunlight, knowing I can brighten up dark moments in post should a cloud pass overhead.

Thanks, I think something that can help you as a solo shooter is a remote to start stop recordings remotely and a small monitor with 2 hollylands to monitor camera 2 and 3

So I’ve actually tried this before because in theory, it sounds like a good idea. The problem is it takes time to setup and when you’re out there by yourself, it’s tough. I think what can work is if you pay an assistant to help with this.

I have shot solo videos for over 20 years including weddings and other events and literally over 400 industrial videos. It just takes a bit of logical thinking. With experience you get better at it, but you do not always need more than just one camera for a lot of productions - two cameras are plenty. You cannot trust to leave a camera on auto iris at any time though, and when you leave it set at a particular aperture it is bound to under or over expose the image at some point.

Past few years i've been putting a 28mm and a 85mm on one tripod at the top of the aisle, then an apsc with a zoom on a monopod, end up using the monopod shot for 80% of the ceremony. then a very similar audio set up to you

Just subbed. Thanks for the great content. I typically use a 2 or 3-camera setup. My main camera is on a gimbal using a 24-105mm lens with the second and third camera being a wide safe shot and a tight bride/groom reaction cam. The main/gimbal cam will get groom/bride reaction from the other side. Great stuff Raphael.

Very informative! Thanks! I did my first one last summer (friends of ours). It was nerve racking but also fun! I used my old Canon 60D (pointed at groom), Canon RP (main roaming), and my iPhone 7 (safe shot at the back/follow cam). Color matching from 3 different cameras in FCPX was a bit challenging. The couple didn't care about that as much...they were more impressed by the memories captured. Canon RP was great but the battery life isn't that great. But that's okay because I'll just cutaway to another camera while I'm changing batteries. The goal this year is to do a few more.

are all you cameras set to manual focus ? or do you use Auto focus on the ones on the tripods ?
@RaphealPersaud
@RaphealPersaud 7 ай бұрын
Sometimes manual, sometimes auto. For example, if I'm using a telephoto lens and the subject fills the frame, I'll use the eye auto focus feature and that works flawlessly. If it's a wide shot with multiple faces in it then I'll often check up on the camera to make sure my focus is good.

@@RaphealPersaud Thanks for the reply. I filmed my first 2 weddings with my 80d and a rented 90d. I'd like to move into mirrorless so I'm trying to decide between a Lumix GH5/S5 combo or a Sony A6400/A7C combo. Any advice for me? Would you be hesitant to leave a Lumix camera alone on autofocus?
@RaphealPersaud
@RaphealPersaud Жыл бұрын
@@NickYack I can’t really comment on Panasonic cameras as I’ve never used them professionally. I would get either a FX30 or 6400 at this point. I think 2 6400s is a great start if budget is a concern. There’s a plethora of lenses for the Sony apsc system. My favorites are the Tamron 17-70 which I own and anything from sigma!

5:55 haven't you heard it's rude to wear white at someone's wedding lol? The main reason shooters wear black shirts while shooting, you don't stick out like a sore thumb and no glare in the LCD screen.

It’s rude to wear a white dress to a wedding, but it’s fair game with dress shirts. BUT with that being said, that clip was from 4 years ago and I wear black now with a gray blazer. My advice would be to wear what makes you comfortable and on brand within reason.
