This video of yours is one of the BEST on wedding audio recording that I've ever watched. It's because you show every step of your workflow by using video. For example, you show what cables to use. Later you show the dj mixer where your recorders are plugged in. You also show the result of your audio recording by showing the clip of the speaker speaking. Always have a backup for your backup. More sources are better than none even if you only use one in the edit. Multiple failures can occur without you knowing or have control over and I can attest to that.

This is the greatest video I’ve ever seen. I just did my first wedding and had one of my DJI might on a sleeve on the main microphone and was getting really bad interference and I was wondering why you just answered that question for me thanks man.

I never try to mic the bride. Usually the groom is close enough to catch them both. I might even put a 2nd mic on the officiant. Asking a stressed out bride to strap a mic to her leg that may or may not be comfortable is a bad idea in my opinion. It also may mess up the look of her dress. Plus im usually way too busy to be helping her get the mic on right. Just dropping mics into the groom and officiant is quick and easy. Tascam 10l is very good and will pick up both

@@elsalongdesignI wouldn’t take the risk of putting a wireless mic on anyone. They’re prone to cutting out. There are some that can record internally. If you must, then this is an okay last resort.

When you mic someone up with the Tascam 10l, how do you get the audio to sync with the video? Doesnt it have to be connected to the camera to do that?

The Tascam DR-10L is a recorder all by itself with a micro SD card inside! So you’ll take the card out and sync it up in post!

RCA to a single XLR is fine. A dual XLR is only needed if you want to separate left and right channels in your own recorder.

Hey, I really like this video a lot. Here’s my question I don’t do videography, but I was asked if I could video wedding vows. I’m a photographer but I can record video. I have a rode video mic pro. Would it be simpler to mount my microphone on a boom and wirelessly connected to my camera? Or get that rode video mic go to wireless system? I’m not doing anything fancy with sound boards or anything like that just my camera and microphones direct.

Hey Jason. Besides setting the recording mode to the highest setting, there's nothing else that I do. All audio edits are done in post for me!

You can, but I find that sometimes depending on the dress, a wireless mic is to bulky.
