It was really nice to take the time to look back on these knits. I just can't believe this is nearly a year in the making. Feels like I only cast off some of the "older" FOs only yesterday! I’m 35 weeks pregnant with my first and you have been such an inspiration during my pregnancy Bethany! :) my husband and I live far away from our families so it’s been a little bit of a lonely pregnancy. Knitting for my daughter has helped a lot with my mental health and been such a rewarding experience, but at this point I feel like I’m racing against the clock to finish everything before she arrives. Your last video, where you said you’ve been able to knit more than you expected after Arthur was born, was also very strangely reassuring to me. It made me feel like I too will be able to find time to work on what I love once my little girl is here. Thank you for sharing your pregnancy/post partum knitting journey with us, it really makes me feel like I have a friend in the same boat as I 😊

Aw I’m so happy to read this. Definitely felt the same with my pregnancy. It’s hard when loved ones are away. Wool and the gang has an adorable adult bonnet called wild at heart in ivory white and beige brown, in garter, that would match the baby jacket with your grandma's yarn perfectly! Its an quick easy knit!

I’m way late, so I don’t know if you’ll even read this comment, but I wanted to comment on the use of onesies. As a Norwegian, we use those mostly for sleeping outside in a stroller. Or as a light layer for car rides. I wouldn’t gravitate towards those for dressing up either, but I get a ton of use out of my ankers suit for strolls and daytime naps, and every day I drive the toddler to nursery. Love the video, by the way!

Hand washing so far. But I just dump them in the sink to soak and then lay to dry. We have to air dry our clothes anyway because we don’t have a dryer so it’s not an issue for me!

I love your sharing! Putting many on my list now if future I have a baby. As a maker, I think that having a zipper at the centerback tends to be less comfortable, especially babies lie down and roll around a lot!

So much pretty stuff :D I've made a sunday suit with zipper myself. I exchanged the stitches for the buttonbands with 5 stitches (purl 2, knit 1, purl 2), and then knit it in the round. At the end I sew down in the purl stitches with a sewing machine, and cut - and then sew in the zipper. That way you don't get the bulge, and it's so much faster to knit overall. Just finished a second one, and still need to do the zipper. Think I'll try sewing it in with the machine this time, and not by hand. I'm sorry if my explanation isn't all too good. I'm norwegian and try my best out here in the international knitting world.

Lovely pieces for your little one. 🥰 Regarding the yarn choice for e.g. the little bonnet, don't worry about it. The perception that a fabric is itchy is a learned perception that comes with recognising the general perception of our surroundings of people and society. You can dress a new born in Shetland or Icelandic wool and the baby won't mind, because it has no idea that we grown ups might think it is itchy. That is just something we are being told and taught by society and producers and such. Sure, there are allergies and sensitivities we experience. But we do that only when we are a bit older and have learned our surroundings. A new born is like an alien who has no idea what the world is like. Everything is new and babies just copy us adults in learning how to live...

A light jacket like the one you made would be perfect in the spring, I think.. so if it's still quite a bit too big now, you might actually get a lot of use out of it in March/April...

I’ve been watching and rewatching all of your baby knit videos - everything you knit for your baby is so cute! I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant, but am a fairly new knitter so am trying to knit up some things for baby but it’s taking me much longer than I’d like 😅🙈 I did just finish my first baby cardie tho, and I’ve just cast on the seaside sweater so hopefully baby will have a couple of things knit up before he’s born. I loved seeing your baby knits and I remember you knitting them. It might not bother you but it’s interesting to note that boys clothes usually button left over right while girls are right over left. I know these days it’s probably not important, just thought I’d mention it. 🌺🧶❤️

I haven’t finished watching but my time is short so I’m commenting now (new mom here too)… I wanted to provide another view on knitted onesies, I did the anker onesie for my baby and I used it everyday while it fit her, I just loved it and still love this kind of onesies as outerwear for my baby. I did mine in pure wool (one that I tolerate next to skin)

Love this video! I'm 14 wks pregnant w/ a boy, and finally feeling well enough to start knitting! When you say it's better value timewise to knit "larger," what size would you recommend - 6 mo? 12 mo?? I'm fairly sure our baby will be a big lil guy, and as an August baby would love anything I knit to last him through his first fall and winter if thats realistic.

Congratulations!! I would say 6 months is good. At the same time, it was actually much easier to dress him in sweaters at 2 months than it is now at 4 months lol he's just so wiggly. I think when he's sitting up it'll get better again.. so 6 months + would be my guess :) enjoy your pregnancy!!

Yes! I used some grey wool from stash (don’t remember brand!) and then held together with WAK fuzzy yarn in a grey tweed :)
