I randomly saw Charles at a 24 hr fitness in OC in 2005. He was just there working out. No one knew who he was. He was extremely nice. RIP.

Man, you are not alone, when I graduated from university, I thought I know everything and that I am ready to be a coach, few weeks into actually working as a coach, communicating with other coaches, etc. I realized that I actually know nothing, this hit me pretty hard, really was an eye-opener, how big the knowledge and skill gap can be between coaches. Great advice to not trying to copy other peoples coaching style, but to focus on your own interests and passions.

I was such a huge fan of Poliquin’s work and methods. Big props to you carrying on his legacy by displaying practical application of the knowledge he taught you. So awesome Joe, keep it up!

Great video, Joe! Loved it! Charles was so ahead of his time it's not even funny! All of his books are wonderful (especially his two books on arm training). Thanks for doing this.

Charles Poliquin was a legend and a pioneer in the feild of strength and conditioning. After interning at the PPC in the morning, I would go to work at another well regarded training facility, and it was like going back in time as the Poliquin Performance Center was light years ahead. There is new research now, which is old I terms of its practice. Charles was doing what most cosider emerging research now, over a decade ago. Simply brilliant! He will be missed greatly.

Thank you for sharing your memories about Coach Poliquin. I had a great laugh at the part where he said you never met a carb you didn't like. I'm sure Coach Poliquin would have gave me a load of shit for my upper suprailac.

Great video! When your take about the mythical 🥩 & nuts breakfast? (which i love thanks to poliquin. Meat & nuts makes total sense when it comes to our jobs as personal trainers, for having energy throughout the day, instead some insulin spikes due to too much carb intake earlier the day! Thanks great content as usual

I loved Charles, gotta earn your carbs. If you’re a fat bastard you don’t need em. Fructose as a preworkout meal is trash. GVT is amazing, changed my physique.

To me it sounds like Poliquin was 50% greatness and 50% broscience. Many of the things he says about diet is not correct. There is a big difference between complex carbs, and simple carbs. Eating too many simple carbs is not good for you, but eating a diet high in complex carbs, is very good for you. Also, it's calories in vs out that matters for weight loss, not carbs vs no carb. Also BCAA are really just BS. It is not necessary to take them ever. He knows what he is talking about when it comes to training, but I am not sold on his diet advice. I am sure it works for gaining muscle and staying lean, but it is not good for long term health.
@walterdeminicis7372 күн бұрын
What you say is partially correct but fails to get his points. Carbs are important cause for fat loss insulin management is the single most important factor, provided you don't overeat. Not overeating is 100% obvious. Decreasing carbs for insulin management is crucial. The carb thing, complex vs simple, idk why you say its very good for you anyways. It depends by your genes. It depends by your genes. By your DNA. It's not 1 size fit all. He was too fast to be correct 100% of the time, and was always ready to change his mind when new science and research came up or when he learned something new though experience. So some people say he was 50% broscience. Those things you mentioned are misunderstood rather than wrong. Idk anything about bcaa anyways, I only know some people recommend them for prolonged fasting lol
