How do I make a get home bag? What is in a get home bag? People are learning about emergency preparedness whether it’s from KZbin channels like Canadian prepper, magic prepper, Alaska prepper, full spectrum survival, even the epic economist. News and earthquake news will keep people prepping watching KZbin channels like southern prepper 1, or Goshen Prepping definitely keeps you updated as SHTF 2023 and disaster preparedness part of your prepper news Mindset, preppers watch Prepping news as they are prepping for 2023 whether it’s food shortages in 2023 or Walmart food shortages staying up on breaking news and having a sense of city prepping even the doomsday preppers have everything ready in case of an SHTF event. Many people also are checking out Riverside Homestead Life, Suttons Daze, and Iridium242. These are all great channels!

MOST IMPORTANT ITEM for your "get home bag" ? GOOD WALKING SHOES ! Lots of folks in Florida go around all day in sandals, or light duty tennis shoes. Office workers may wear leather dress shoes or ladies' dress shoes. NONE of these are adequate to walk for long distances - especially via "off-road" routes. And DON'T FORGET - a couple bottles of water, plus a few granola bars. Walking requires a lot of effort - avoid walking at midday. And DON'T walk "off-road" at night !

Also keep your windows covered with thick black trash bags and heavy curtains it will also keep the cold out in winter and keep the heat out in summer , if your going to stay home Also keep doors locked , if you have a fire place stack wood very close to your back door , stock up on water 💦 FOODS and med supply and vitamins, get blankets for warmth don't only pack granola bars if you have kids , I'd pack a snack pack and water in the kids backpacks, I'd ware my head lamp around my neck because if your being chased you won't have time to dig them out of your backpack oh and bug stray

Great to see a woman's prospective on GHB\BOB bags. 19:17 I have a bag like this too. The Velcro strap on the inside is for keeping items in the large back pocket from coming out when you open it. The one on the outside goes over the zipper to prevent it from opening when you tear it off. Also your tampons and pads can be used in 1st-aid as well. For the times when gauze Isn't enough. Being a man, I get made fun of for having them in my 1st aid kit. But if I have a cut that won't stop bleeding or a lady needs one I have em.

great bag. I would add trash bags and the plastic grocery bags. I got stranded in a winter storm on interstate and had to walk out. I put the shopping bags over my socks inside shoes and my feet stayed warm and dry. trash bags can be used for all kinds of things. Also toe and hand warmers and a small cook stove with cup to heat water or if you have a freeze dry soup etc. I am going to add small mylar bags with things I can pour hot water into as well as other freeze dry things . thank you for all the work you put into your videos. I look forward to each one.

I am 70 yr old widow. No way can I carry a heavy back pack. So, I carry a deer cart in my car. I live in the country so I could be several miles from home. I am always revising my get home kit. If the situation is truly a SHTF then you should carry personal long range protection. A walking stick is ok if you are trained in using it for self defense, but at older ages that item will serve to help your balance and little else. A pew pew requires only a few pounds of finger pressure to use. Practice with your pew pew as often as you can.

I think that we should hear testimony experience from people in Manhattan that had to literally walk home after 911... what they would have needed in order to get home. Water Shoes Dust mask Safety Preplanned stops for interim. Several. Make arrangements prior. Get to know store owners etc. Frequent the stores in between your house and destinations so you know the store and people that work there. Build friendships and trust with eachother to help each other.

In my car i keep a container shoe box size that has snacks in it so i always remember to rotate it. If something happens i can pick some snacks out and add it to my bag. In my bag i have some dehydrated chili, bean n bacon soup a pasta jar meal(ur recipe) all vacuum sealed in pouches and a couple of dark chocolate bars, they dont melt easy lol. I have fire starting kit n also carry a small hiking stove n canister plus first aid multi tool set of clothes socks a puffy jacket squishes down small. BUT never thought to carry a nola radio with me, i have one for the house but def get one for my car! My car broke down once when i was in the mountians enjoying a nice spring day...i had to walk 11 miles to get cell service and luckily i had a sweatshirt in my trunk but i was in flip flops and shorts since then i have never gone anywhere without a set of clothes and shoes and something to eat! It was not a pipular road(s) and in the time one car was all i saw. That was hard lesson learned.

Missing in your get home bag is a good fixedblade knife 5-7 inch blade. Folding knives will brake when abused or when you need it most. Some fishing hooks & a small minoculars or binoculars . Being able to see ahead in your route in case of danger , bad people. I would avoid contact of strangers at all cost if the grid is down, EMP, nuclear, SHTF , etc, etc.

The folding e-bike in a Faraday bag is an excellent idea!!! My suggestion would be that if you ever had to use your get home gear wear the backpack instead of attaching it to the bike. If you run into trouble and have to abandon the bike in a hurry you want the pack to already be on your back. A suggestion for everyone is once you have assembled a GHB get out and hike with it and see what its like to carry it for 10 miles or so. Train regularly to gain strength and stamina. Look for lighter alternatives and rationalize your gear if the pack is too heavy.

One word about your get home bag..WEIGHT .. you might be tempted to throw in everything including the kitchen sink.. but weight is a deal breaker.. you want to travel with a pack as light as you can get... You're going to need to carry some water and that's going to be the heaviest thing.. so don't put things in your pack that you most likely won't need.. also do not carry a tactical camouflage type of pack.. while you may think it looks cool you want to be as gray man as possible..

Outstanding preso - feedback follows; Distribute fire starting in multiple parts of your bag. You never know if you get separated from your bag. Additional, Black is good for absorbing sunlight to dry quickly, however it makes a dark shadow at night - Navy Blue disappears at night. BZ!

I see many problems with your BAG I will explain why at the end you have too many comfort items, you’re bag is way too big. you should have a very slim profile bag that you can wear front facing or a good quality fishing vest that has large pouches and pockets Will explain why at the end. your bag is way too heavy to go a long distance, unless you train with it, there are items you should carry in your car not in your bag will explain why at the end,I think you should have in no particular order in on you, stand alone, rear facing bladder, purification tablets, sufficient amount of energy bars, navigation compass, two flashlights, small pair of binoculars, poncho with hood, extra socks, knife, pepper spray,, in your car you should have decent quality, hiking waterproof boots, large cargo pants with large, multiple pockets a belt and holster, light waterproof jacket that will fit over a vest or a small front facing back park, a hat of some type, sunglasses and gloves a phone charging device if you feel you need one,, when you’re walking down the road you want to appear to have nothing with you if people see you carrying any type of backpack many people will want to take that from you that is why if you have a rear facing bladder and a front facing small slim backpack or a vest you can wear a large light jacket over it, and you appear to have nothing, for anybody to want to take from you,, by having a vest under your jacket that has many pockets and pouches and cargo pants with lots of pockets, you can carry enough items but if somebody sees you, you appear to have nothing

Use an old sock to put your sun glasses in to protect them. Your signal mirror is also good for first aid. Everything in your red zipper pouch can fit in the first aid red pouch. You should consider Darn Tough and Injini or a combo of each for socks. Will save your feet from blisters. Add #36 bank line for everyday usage that can be disposable and Its 350 lbs per foot. A small sharpening or honing kit for your knife blades would be good. A small pair of pliers that have a better grip than a multi-tool would be good. Laplander Folding Saw, small Silky Gomboy saw, or an Old Timer 69OT Premium Trapper folding knife that has a blade, saw, and strap cutter comes in handy for fire building or if you have to make a splint out of branches. UCO Titan storm proof matches should be added to your fire kit. A small whistle on your chest strap for emergency signal is a great idea especially if you have kids. A stainless steel water bottle with nesting cup for food prep, disinfecting water, and it can be filled with boiling water to keep you warm at night. A Deuce of Spades trowel for cat holes so you don't leave a trace when going #2 in the bushes. Lastly some Uniheat 72 Hour Heat Packs for hand warming during cold periods. You can safety pin a pair of socks in your coat next to your kidneys and put the Uniheat pack in the sock. This will keep you warm for up to 72 hours. You can transfer the socks to your blanket with the safety pins and sleep nice and warm and then transfer back to your coat when your read to go again. Good video and good ideas overall.

I'm 68, female, and familiar with managing a rollator and mobility issues. You might try a very lightweight sling bag for bare essentials, snack, ID, and some cash. It clips over your rollator bar or can be worn crossbody style. It's amazing what you can fit into a small one. Been in your situation and a manageable LIGHTWEIGHT emergency bag is totally doable. You'd ditch the purse and throw your ID and keys in and clip a mace on the outside. A waist pack works well too. At least you would have some essentials. All the best!

I don't need a seat belt cutter I have a very sharp knife again in the fanny pack. If I need either of those I need them immediately, why I carry on my person. You store a M95 I would add some mint life saver candy, those will help keep you breathing during smoke. Those come individually wrapped and perfect for those with breathing issues. For your medical kit I would add a couple mini tubes of super glue. For your communications what you have is sufficient but take small mylar bag and put electronic inside the bag and wrap in half then put into another mylar bag with reusable seal. Hi This is a great video. I read the comments and others ideas to also pack. But the idea that if you only had a day to walk home maybe you don’t need all of that but on the other hand if your home is ransacked you at least know you have items to survive to get to a safe place. The person who said there would be check points and gangs waiting at bridges etc is a scary thought. One thing I take into consideration is average walking speed for normal people, which is15-22 minutes per mile or about 3-4 mph. BUT we're not always walking in a straight line, we're going up and down hills, around winding roads, maybe going down a canyon or broken bridge. I would say 2 mph is more realistic. If you are 50 miles away from home and walk about 10 hours a day, it would take about a day and a half to 3 days to get home. Do you have the gear or ability to sleep the night somewhere? What about in wet or cold conditions? Important things to consider depending on your situation.

The average person can walk about 3 miles per hour. So about 7 hours for a 20 mile trek plus rest. Folding bike will cut down to about two hours but will make you a target in an EMP emergency. A skateboard with handle could also be an option. Maybe an inflatable pillow and sleeping pad for longer distances. And a folding trekking pole to keep stray animals away. A hand fan or atomizer for a hot day. Most rechargeable batteries must be depleted and recharged every two months or so. And have a minimum max operating and storage temperature range. Cars in summer can reach 130 degrees so be careful. Likewise in cold temps could be rendered useless.

In bigger urban & suburban area where I am that thing would be a magnet for the desperate. But if an EMP actually happened most folks won't have a clue so heading home on foot asap may have a strategic advantage. Great video. I think you covered most of your bases. Even chafing ( the most forgotten demon. Kudos for the electric bike. Recommendations: Convert your external bag into a GTFO bag. Something to grab in an emergency, where you just need to get away. Bare basics. Knife, filter, light, lighter, etc. Ditch the cable saw. They are almost worthless. Get thepocket chainsaw. Similar to the cable saw, but it has a chai.saw chain rather than a thin cable. Maybe rap up an extra pair of pants in the jacket. Theremany times, especially for women, where a backup pair of pants/jeans would be needed (i.e. skirts, shorts, damaged cloths). You do have the leggings, but would that be enough? You are in Maine, right? Rain gear, or would that be in your car Maybe add an emergency vest, for when stealth is not an issue. Shetler: Really Big Monkey set up one of those mylar tube tents, filled two of the mylar sleeping bags with leaves for insulation, andcrawel in between. Like i said great video, thanks

Until I can run my own experiments, I'm not sure that I trust what any researcher tells us 🤣 But as sensitive as all of the electronics are in modern vehicles, I have a hard time believing there would be no damage to ECU's, starter circuits, and charging systems. All it takes is a small percentage of cars to become disabled on roads and parking lots to create traffic jams for miles. Add that to the mass panic and no electricity .. your trip home would definitely be a challenge! -Rob (Mr. WP)

If you live or travel in the northeast, and think you may land in wooded areas in any kind in an emergency, and for most of the year now, do not wear black. The reason why is it's hard to see ticks and spiders, bugs on black. This is why rangers etc. wear lighter colors like tans or greens. This is also for your gear and packs and whatever bags. Sorry...... My guy walked 5 feet down a path, brushed up against a bush and was covered in seconds with hundreds of tiny deer tics. The Lyme type. They are everywhere now annd really beyond the northeast down to the Carolinas for sure. Luckily he wears tan or Kaiki mostly. It was still insane to find them all on his jeans. Omg. It happened again to my dogs by a log in then dead grass. It was crazy and still cold out Our dogs are of course back and brown. Omg. Hundreds ! And all over my bags I had laid down on the ground. We were about to fish. It's crazy. Another time camping it was spiders. I got bit in the face and my eye swelled. Of couse i has a black sleeping bag. Never again! The tiny ones are almost impossible to see on black, sorry. It's a good idea also to get gaiters. I got them for both for winter and lighter ones for spring, sumner and early fall. Waterproof, also in lite colors. I got a pretty green and a light brown to match my hiking boots. Summer gaiters are great to keep dust and debris out of your shoes that can cause blisters. Just a good thing. Same with shoes brown is better than black. Or anything but black. UV Clothing is also a good thing to include like sun hoodies, all year. Stressing to pack in layers is also key. Anything but cotton and cheap synthetics. Best to pack breathable and wicking materials. Good yoga pants to pair under a water resistant, stretch, quick dry sports pant. Same with tops, bras, underwear. Socks pack a wicking sock liner, even with wool socks. You can allternate your wool daily, and one for night and change liners more frequently during the day to keep your feet dry. It works like magick ! I got down booties for at night that live in my EDC they pack so small. I pack a puffer, a vest, a puffer hat all year long. A packable rain jacket and pants I have tested manny times now. I got the rain jacket one size up to use as a shell over coats and fleeces. Columbia makes a great lite rain jacket with a mesh liner to keep you dry. They have a great shelll with a heat reflective liner that works well. Both not heavy or bulky to pack. Not too expensive I bought all ours on sale from Amazon. I bought some more packable China knock off tiny rain jackets that are so great. I tried a few different brands that arent good. I would have to spend the big bucks to get super utra lite with anything. I think a hooded fleece, lastly is a must. Something breathable and descent. Lots of thrift stores have the older better American made materials, and Columbia brand shines here IMHO. Soft and not recycled plastic which is just horrible for moisture. I collected quite a few in great shape thrifting like new really. They last forever.. Gloves are definitely inportant, I carry running gloves with me all the time now. Over that I can put decent winter waterproof gloves or my made for women Mechanics brand work gloves that have a reinforced palm and fingers but not bulky like the guys style. The reinforcement is not in the top so i can still functiin well. Last in my kit i have thick plush mittens to sleep in. Super warm.

OMG excellent information! Most people would buy black to be indiscrete from others in a SHTF situation, but I never thought about ticks!

I think for the first aid kit, the part you asked about might be to hang it up while the kit is open to see what's all there quickly if you need hands free. Hang it over a hanger, or carry a s hook with you and hang on a branch ect.. the kit bag is set up like a overnight bag that is for traveling that opens up and hangs in the bathroom while getting ready.

The DSM. Diagnostic & Statistical Manual. Personality Disorders: There is no such thing as a personality disorder. Let Me prove it. Play this out with a few people:. A couple of you be Law Enforcement, one be the psychiatrist & you, well, you are the person the has no idea what is going on (because they've got the wrong person). I know a guy. Law Enforcement turned up ,with psychiatrist, to lock him up. He had a similar name to the Person they were actually looking for... 'Get your friggin' hands off me!' "Quick, look how angry he is, he needs his medication' this is the psychiatrist saying this. Then law enforcement, do there thing and tackle him to the ground. He then lets out a few words; *bad language* probably because it hurt. 'Yep, he's out of control (Law Enforcement). People have personalities. Government people, are people. Sleep in car, Van or Motorhome - No caravan means only 1 Registration. Flat Battery. Manual = Roll/Push start. Anyone been keeping an eye on the Stock Market? 'When gold is twice the price of the Dow, gold is is going into a bubble, when it is 3 time the price of the Dow, gold is massively overvalued" E.g; Dow drops to 10,000 gold jumps to $20,000 - $30,000 per Oz Currently about $3,000 Aud. Keep each purchase under $5,000 and there need be no record of it. Coin Dealers like the one across the road from Perth Mint, it is all Cash, off record ;) Who is the one person who is Normal, with no flaws to be like? Who dictates this. If we're all like this person there is no individualism. If I inject myself with Diesel fuel & a new Disease is created... would Government study it or tell everyone to never inject themselves with Diesel fuel...if you didn't inject yourself are you in remission? (I'm Australian; late 30's, have never enrolled to vote. I know a woman in her 60's, has never enrolled to vote). Why didn't you question why some "experts" are drawn to different conclusions? My mother often says - Some people are educated beyond their own intelligence; they may be articulate, but they speak above people and don't get the message across. They sound like they know what they are talking about... They sound authoritative. Cancer Industry: Remission - ask them why they don't use the word 'Cure? Again: If I inject myself with Diesel fuel... & new disease is created.... If you didn't inject yourself with Diesel fuel are you in Remission? A Clairvoyant: a clairvoyant will sell you garbage like, time doesn't exist - that is, until you're bitten by a snake... 'quick, call someone, they may only have 15 minutes...' One suggestion ... if you want to include chocolate, instead of candy bars(especially Reese's pb cups) that melt in hot weather, toss in a bag of Tootsie Rolls. Not the same, but they don't melt. That's what I was told a few years ago when making care packages for the troops overseas. M&Ms are iffy, but you might want to try a few and see. I used to keep a mix of peanuts, raisins and M&Ms in baggies for road trips and they survived a week or more during the summer (possibly longer if we hadn't eaten them all)😂

This is a great well organized bag!!! Your red medical bag is an EMT bag. It is meant to be worn on a waist belt, but you can rip it off the Velcro and use it. Some one else mentioned garbage bags. Contractor thick bags are great and don't take up much room. I would add a 4-6 inch knife like a Ka-Bar (its 7 in, but something like that). Yes it can be used as a weapon, but it is really good for digging Cat Holes for when you got to go #2 and you need to bury it. It is lighter than a little shovel. You can use the pummel on some as a hammer. I loved the fold-able electric bike. Great video!!! 🏠

If you drove 1 hour away from home (at 55mph) and then your vehicle got hit with an EMP, or something else happened, and you had to walk home. It would take the average person 16 to 17 hours to walk back home. ( and that's without resting) The average walking pace is 2.5 to 4mph. So a "get home bag" isn't a bad idea at all! A folding bicycle wouldn't be a bad idea either.
