Hello lovelies! This week we're going to sit down and take a look back at all of my makes for 2024 and what a BIG year it has been! I have made a ridiculous amount of things this year but I hope that you find this retrospective enjoyable even if its intensity is a little unnerving.
I linked as much as I could in the description but if there is something I missed or you want to know more about just leave a comment.
I would also LOVE to know what you have made in 2024 and what your plans and goals are for 2025?
Also, don't forget to give me your tips and suggestions for sewing a Nordic/Scandinavia appropriate wardrobe for my big trip to Lapland in 2025. What should I wear to the snow in the far north???
Everything including my patterns are linked below for your enjoyment.
Please consider subscribing to my channel and giving a like, it really helps me out a lot!

Welcome to Finland! Ppl say we are cold nation of folks, but we warm up fast when the first barrier of pleasantries has been broken. Layers are great, you can take those off when inside and pile more on when outside. Undies and longlegged leqwear separate - saves on washing, if can afford merinowool leggings work great, wool socks are nice layer on top of regular socks, Some ppl are more sensitive to cold on their ears so something with flaps is nice choice. Also skirts can feel like blanket on your legs so those are good too, and jacket that covers ones arse helps with wind not being able to creep up on you. But I'm sure you will manage great and if be in need of something, thrifting is big part of life over here.

Hello from Canada! Cold weather wear… lots of layers. If you are warm outside you will sweat inside so carry a bag for extra sweater mitts and toque that you pull off when you go inside. Snowboarders have sewn ribbons in the inside back of the parka so that you can slip your arms out and wear like it’s a backpack. Beanies are toques 😅 here! wool over anything else, and cotton kills in the cold.

Greetings from Finland! ⛄️Merino wool baselayer (both long sleeved shirt and pants!) is your best friend in March, especially if you are here in the beginning of March. You also need warm, insulating and somewhat waterproof winter shoes in which you can fit woolen socks beneath (you might need to go up a half a size depenging on the shoes). A good winter coat (= toppatakki) is a must (windproof/water repellent) and snow/quilted pants (= toppahousut) might be needed depending how freezing it will be. It’s important to keep your head warm and ears covered with a warm beanie. Don’t worry if you can’t find everything you need in Australia, we are big on recycling and have lots of second hand shops where you can purchase winter clothes. I’m pretty certain you can also rent some winter equipment you might need in Lapland. I think the knitted sweater you have on your needles migh be useful on your trip. ☺️ In case you are visiting North-eastern part of Lapland, the Siida museum in Inari is a great place to visit - it’s a museum about Samí culture (our indigenous people) and nature. Santa lives in Rovaniemi and you might want to meet him. 😄🎅🏻 Northern lights are amazing to see, at least some hotels can alert you when they can be seen, there might also be some sort of an app for that. As a rough generalization Scandinavian knitters are quite interested in knitting really warm Icelandic or Norwegian sweaters and you can buy this coarse but very warm woolen yarn suitable for them from in any yarn shop (most typically Icelandic Lopi-yarn, it’s nothing like merino wool). Hope you have a wonderful stay here😍

Wow thank you so much for all that amazing information!!! I didn't know about the ears thing so I am making immediate changes to my beanie to accommodate the suggestions. I definitely don't have a good coat and have not been able to find one here. I am so excited to try and find one in a thrift store over there (we call them op shops)! I have read about that museum but unfortunately won't be up that far, I also wanted to go to the craft museum in Jyväskylä but we just don't have the time. I'm already planning another longer trip in a couple of years time because there is just SOOO much to see!!!!! Thanks again for the info and for watching, very very appreciated! KIITOS! ♥️

I don't live in Scandanavia but I do live in a cold winter climate (northeastern US). Layers are you friend for cold! Your merino base layers will be great! Wool is awesome for temperature regulation whether you're warm or cold. But layers are good so you can add or subtract as needed. Something warm for your head that won't be sweaty and something to protect your face too. Speaking from experience, wind burn is real and not pleasant. Have fun!

Lots of completed projects, i am in awe. I love how adventurous you are and how many things you try. So maybe I dont know enough about youtube, but wouldnt it be easier for you to just release what you want to release regardless if youtube pushes it? I dont use the youtube recs page, i go looking for specific projects or crafts and what was recent from the channels i subscribe too. If someone is regular poster its part of my schedule, i watch so and so on monday, so and so on the 3rd thurs etc. Just post! Maybe you will get slotted in like Rachel Macksey or Shannon Makes. They have a huge range of projects and crafts and are hard to pigeonhole. Yet so much fun to watch.

Don't know whether this would be helpful but I watch a lady on KZbin from Finland, Crochet with Tuula Maaria. When it is freezing there I think she always travels to other countries.

Thanks so much Amy, this was great! You are doing an amazing job. I am learning and loving to sew, and it's made a hugely positive difference in my life. Content like yours (especially while managing the chaos of ADHD!) is incredibly helpful and just bloody delightful. I would absolutely join a patreon if you started one! Hoping very much that 2025 is kind to you xx

Say! Little Hen online shop, none of the yarn in her shop has any polyester or nylon, the Onion nettle yarn that she has is quite hardy. Not Australian yarn, but a small business. Socks have been made for centuries before nylon came into being so a hardier wool than merino or adding something like silk or bamboo as the role of nylon.

oke the cold: start with underwear which can be washed (cotton) . Then start a base layer like merino underwear longsleeves. Then your normal clothes. then a think wool sweater. then your coat which keeps out water and wind. Keep your ears covered and also your neck. If its really cold wear mittens who are also keep water and wind out. If its really cold use like oil/ a fat cream to keep your face warmer. the socks isn't there sock yarn with linnen in it?

Two of my favourite makers have started second channels for stuff that doesn't fit whatever the algorithm "thinks" isn't suitable for their main channels. Shannon Makes/Shannon Makes Something Else and Charlie Nebe aka The Stitchery That could be a way to show videos that you've gone to the effort of making but feel unsure about putting on this channel
