What a lovely dye garden. 😃 It will be so interesting to see you compare indigo with woad. 🙂 I haven't heard of bush tomato. 🍅 Did you mention Weld, Reseda luteola? That is otherwise one of the main dye plants for yellow. It gives a very colour-fast, clear yellow. 💛🍋 It can be used with woad or indigo to make green. 🍏☘🌿🍃

I rue the day I planted lady’s bedstraw in the garden You use the roots which are so fine you need heaps ,but it has become a real pest in my garden up the road from you (cockatoo)so be very careful if you haven’t planted it in the garden .try it in a pot to start with and see what you think. You really need so much of the root though I don’t think it is worth the annoyance and they are very very fine . Good luck with the others another good one I don’t think I heard you mention was calendula very easy to grow and control. Forage for montbretia at the moment lots of places in the hills you will see this bright orange flower again don’t plant in the garden you will never get rid of it gives a good dye especially with solar dying.have fun

Back then I would say 3a or 3b but it is now much more wavy. My daughter has Easter European heritage so her hair is wavy at the top and changes to super curly on the ends.. I would highly recommend looking into protective styles, they make such a difference to overall hair health. We can usually do basic braids and they will stay in for a week with no issues. It's neat and taken care of but I don't need to "do" her hair every day.

hi! if you have the opportunity, the night train from stockholm to kiruna if a wonderful experience! i took it only as far as lulea, and in the summer, so we slept with the window open, and the smell of the trees while the train rocks you gave me the best sleep of my life <3 it might be hard to plan into a trip if you have luggage etc, we did it while we were still living in sweden so we only had a weekend bag. while lulea was cute, it felt more like a university-centered town to me, with a smaller historical center and more area for appartments, so again if you have limited time it's a bit tricky since you might not spend too much time there. it's close to a very big train museum, some carriages and locomotives are open, others not, but still great to walk around! and it's also close to the Gammelstad church town which is very nice to visit as well, and there are floating saunas on the water in lulea, but i don't know how that works in the winter. we didnt have time to stick around much but the forest has a lot of old growth trees. (+ beautiful birch trees everywhere up north!) i'd love to visit kiruna in the winter, there are beautiful nature spots to see, like a cascade, but since i haven't been yet i can't speak much on it and i don't know how far that is from the city. also i spent a winter in Gothenburg, so i layered wool tights under skin color thermal tights under skirts, long wool ones for colder days, and i layered multiple wool undershirts under my sweaters. (now back home i actually prefer zip up thermals, either over or under if they fit) i could get away with thin sweaters with this method. definitely choose things that can be peeled off without too much trouble. i made myself a big crochet snood, but when it snowed i would get a thick layer of snow on top of my head in just minutes, that would soak through while waiting for the bus, so i would recommend watertight hiking jackets (with hoods) so you can travel lighter and not be bothered with always having to dry a thick wool things somewhere. i live in brittany now, and it's as rainy as people say. i now run most of my errands with fast drying hiking pants. absolutely life changing not to have wet stuff clinging to your skin hours after rain has ended. (however they just dry fast, they're not watertight, so you would have the same trouble as before if you layer them with thermal things), so i'm not sure how to apply this to wet AND COLD winter weather? if you're going for a glamorous look, maybe a jacket that goes all the way to your feet would go well with long skirts? greetings from france :D additions: whatever you do, make sure your neck covering can cover your nose and stay in place there! the tip gets sooooo cold !!! i'd advise a tight thermal that hugs you like a ski mask, under a nicer looking scarf or snood wind will make your eardrums hurt, definitely cover your ears well also in case you don't know already, the good stuff in hiking gear is typically made out of gore-tex fabric, it's water tight for up to 8 hours in the rain if double layered, 4ish for a single layer rainjacket, and it's breathable. typically for skiing people have a jacket out of this with a thermal or two under which we call polaire over here 🙂 i lived in the alps until i was 18 and this was the formula everywhere. colthing choice is definitely going to be a range. the more hiking ready you look, the less layers and mess you'll have to deal with, and the more you try to incorporate cute coats and bottoms the more you'll have to pack. i've done many winters layered like an onion so i could survive wearing mini skirts and cropped faux fur jackets, and now i just want to make it as easy as possible lol

The most important part of dressing for extremely cold weather is layering. If you're wearing only a couple very thick and warm layers, you're more likely to start sweating, and if you then take off one of those layers then your sweat is going to make you very very cold. Start with base layers, Which it looks like you already have, and then build up layers on top of that. A base layer, your shirt or blouse, a sweater, and insulated jacket, and then maybe a shell on top of that. If you can find an insulated shell or a 2-in-1 jacket, that could be great, but I find I generally don't want to wear a shell because it traps in the moisture of my body when I'm being active, and so I only wear a shell if it's super windy, raining, or snowing to protect my clothes from getting wet. Beautiful job with everything you made in 2024, definitely inspired me! ❤
@haleyhoudini
@haleyhoudini 12 күн бұрын
Another thing to consider is that in general, mittens are going to make your hands feel warmer than separated fingered gloves because your fingers keep each other warm. However, you obviously lose the dexterity you might have with separated finger gloves. I'm a fan of wearing the types of mittens that actually have separated fingers on the inside, and then you can unbutton The mitten part to bring it over and snap to the top of your hand that way you can have dexterity when you need it, but then keep your fingers warm when you don't need the dexterity. There are also some three fingered mittens out there, where your thumb and pointer finger are separated but the other three fingers are in their own little mitten compartment. I like those and I use them when skiing because it keeps my fingers warm but I can still grab zippers
