This is also the man who's still done a fat lot of nothing to actually stop the spread. Individual states are taking most of their own measures to cap the infection and deaths, and Trump has done nothing to enforce actual safety measures. Not to mention the loads of people who do, in fact, take even his supposed sarcastic remarks at face value and carry them out. For all of his power, he doesn't wield it effectively.

The mayor is the real villain of Jaws. The shark is just a force of nature. But give the mayor from jaws some credit: in the end, he hired Quint (after three people died-about two more then needed to, and the economy of Amity Island was likely destroyed for years, if not decades, if not forever). The GOP will never take that last step. If the mayor from Jaws were Trump and the GOP, he'd blame Brodie for not doing his job, Hooper for being a fake shark expert, Quint for not doing his patriotic duty by hunting the shark for free, the first victim for swimming in the ocean that late at night (with his enablers making insinuations about her sex life), the second victim's mother for being a negligent parent and everyone except the business leaders and himself. Also, appreciate the fact that some governors literally reopened the beach because they thought the threat had passed. If that were in a pandemic movie, it would be criticized for being too much of a Jaws reference.
