On my journey with minimalism, I find it keeps things simple, the house is organized and easier to keep clean, less stuff to think about and store away. It also keeps my mind clear, not always staring at a big mess of things

I have been trying to declutter and reduce having so much "stuff". You are a breath of fresh air. Love your videos❣️

I'm of an age where although the minimalist lifestyle is not for me, I see the value of decluttering 6 decades of collected items and paring down to essentials. I'm also tiring of the furniture and look of my home that hasn’t really changed in 30 years! I seek a place somewhere in the middle of "overwhelm" and "stark". 😊

I LOVE this!! I search for videos on minimalism, but I don't find that any of them are actually minimal. You are, and I pray that you keep sharing this aspect of your life. I am also a minimalist homeschooling mom of 4, I would love for you to share how you keep homeschooling and kids stuff minimal.

Just a few minutes into this video and had to comment…I’m inspired by you and this! This is not our permanent home…well said and what a great reminder and reflection. I have been pairing down but want to go further. Thank you for sharing!

I am by no means a minimalist but I do enjoy hearing from your experience and catching tips for how to reduce what we keep in our home. :) thank you for sharing!

Minimalism has been such a blessing for me. I have struggled all my life with what I know (age 60) believe to be adhd. Minimalism has helped SO much. Over the years I bought so much decorating to make our house a home for my family but actually just created a cluttered environment. Still struggle but am always learning and find you so inspirational! Am looking to go way further, working towards downsizing! 😊

I am so impressed that you only have one pen. That is something I am always on the hunt for and yet when I locate them I am shocked how many are strewn around home. I think you said it best when you keep it minimum you take care of items better. I will also be decluttering pajamas today. I knew the drawer was stuffed and it turns out there are 12 sets in there. Thanks Elli, for this insightful video.

You're not weird. I've been decluttering our home for a while, and it feels SO GOOD! But, I don't know why I feel that I need so many dresses when I usually wear the same six on repeat. I definitely need to work on that. 🤦🏻♀️

I’m not a minimalist but I love watching your content. We recently moved off grid and live in our RV and we’re building a small cabin. So crunching down on our belongings is becoming part of my life. Thank you so much for sharing! 💜🌸

I love seeing how little you have. I am the most extreme Minimalist in our home. My four season wardrobe in 32 items but several of those will wear out and won't be replaced. The less we own the more liberating! Two of my kiddos are pretty extreme minimal. My husband and youngest have the most and are also the ones always complaining about not being able to find things. Ha

I’m so curious, do people not gift you things? I try hard to be minimal but I have givers in my life lol. My mom is a maximalist and she loves getting me things and it stresses me out. I also don’t want to be wasteful. How do you handle Christmas and your birthday?
@charmingintrovert32403 ай бұрын
I love this question too! Would REALLY appreciate a video on this topic! My mother-in-law was also a prolific giver. I had to politely ask her to stop giving our family so much because I was trying to be minimal with our possessions. She took offense and stopped giving all together. I don't know how I could have handled it any differently. Would love to have Elli's opinion on this because I value the way she chooses to live without an abundance of material possessions. ❤

We give either consumables or experiences as gifts and our families respect our wishes to receive the same, when they choose to give a gift. We also have exchanged names, so we are not buying or receiving a bunch of gifts. Another idea is to forgo gifts and adopt a family in need and bless them with a meal and gifts at Christmas.

I told my daughter I didn't want stuff, just her time. We always go out for dinner on my birthday. Can be coffee morning tea. When I gift it's usually movie tickets, massage, manicure, or a adventure.

Loved seeing this! I definitely am not as minimal. I have decided that extreme minimalism is too minimal for me. My wardrobe stays around 50 pieces for all the seasons, but I get quality pieces that last many years. I just cycle them in and out per season. ❤ I am also not minimal with books anymore 😂.

Love it. I wonder how much I own watching this. Your whole house puts me in awe. I always have a pile I want to get there. I have at least 3 pair of pjs for summer. We also have 3 church services (2 Sunday services and Wednesday) we attend so we do keep more church clothes. I also saw another comment asking you about how you manage gifts coming in for birthdays and Christmas from friends and family. Do you encourage experience gifts?I have decluttered toys.

The satchel that you’re wanting to make sounds like a Fanny pack. Your boys could wear it around their waist like a belt and the Fanny pack sits right on their tummy area. Mine was just a smallish bag that zipped up. I would wear it whenever we would go rock hunting. I’m excited to see what you make for your little guys!

I enjoyed watching this video. Every word said is very true. I have held onto "things" for years and emotionally purchased items. I am slowly decluttering and gaining the mindset of not having to fulfill that "emptiness." I, too, am a Christian but have always struggled with having "stuff." However, I can also say that our family has been given a plethora of heirlooms over the years that we will never depart with.

I have ADHD and I found out that my 'stuff' was causing me anxiety. So....I began deluttering! I *did* get rid of my books (except for the Bible). I now get my books from the library. Otherwise, I'm like you - I personally have very little stuff! I developed allergies when I turned 40, so I can no longer wear make-up! All of my clothes (for all 4 seasons here in Michigan) fit into ONE suitcase!

I'm very impressed! It definitely is a journey. I always feel like I have too much stuff and it is a burden to me, but at the same time it is hard to part with it. Such a dilemma! I'm wondering what your thoughts are on stocking up/prepping for disasters. Like do you purchase extra food, water, supplies to have on hand in case of power outages or potential shut down of grid, etc.? --Barbara

Thank you for your video. I do like to declutter, but I am not a minimalist. I guess it's not for everyone. I come from a large family, and for birthdays and Christmas, we give each other gifts. I do make donations whenever possible to get rid of things. Also, where I live, we need clothing for the different seasons. We get snow and hot temperature in the summer.

Thank you for this video. It’s what our world needs! And it’s my dream to own this little. I have a question. Do you keep a journal or a personal history? I am in the process of digitizing my journals and photos so I can throw away all the paper.

Oh my 😅 I am from Norway, west Norway.. And it rains 90% of the summer 🤣 And it snows from October till May in the mountain I live in. We need so many shifts because we are out all the time working and playing. It would be nice, to have less 🤩 But still. Five underpants. I bleed thru five in a day during my period 🤣 But that is another story. 🫣 So my question is, where do you live? 😎 ☀️🦋 So cool that you can own that little clothes 👌

I am older and am minimalist, too. But I really have a hard time keeping clothes at a manageable level. Perhaps I need to let go of the idea that I need to wear something different every day and have multiples of the basics for when something wears out, as it can be hard to find quality items that aren't made of synthetics. If you don't mind sharing, how do you make having so few articles of clothing work for you? Do you wear the same outfits multiple times a week and do laundry as often? Thank you.
