My #1 favorite travel item is a collapsible water bottle from Vapur. It weighs next to nothing empty, you can slide it into your purse, cruise through security, then fill it after you're past security. It gets smaller as you drink more and u can easily stuff it into seat back pocket even when quite full.

Three years ago when I travelled through Italy for three weeks I bought and used an anti-theft crossbody purse similar to the one you showed. However, at the end of day out sightseeing, the sheer weight of it, and the ‘anti-cut’metal cable hidden in the strap, gave me a lot of shoulder pain and numbness. Since then I use a much lighter, smaller, more stylish, crossbody purse that doesn’t say “I’m a tourist” without any trouble. I also use a plain lightweight nylon folding bag for the extra items like a hat or water bottle that I can switch from hand to hand as needed and comes in handy to carry purchases, groceries or snacks in. I also use a colourful, but plain sarong (purchased on a vacation in Hawaii) as a lightweight and stylish wrap when visiting churches or going out in the evenings. It’s even wide and long enough to use as a blanket on drafty trains and planes. And I can wrap it around the strap of my crossbody purse to discourage potential pickpockets from getting at the zipper.

Hello there! Thank you for sharing such great ideas. The only thing i won’t do is not to leave my passport in the hotel. Every time my husband and me travel, we make sure that we take with us our passports individually, he carries his passport and i carry mine. Even going to the toilet, i never leave my bag to my husband. The world is unpredictable. We don’t know what will happen. If something goes wrong, you have with you your passport, cash/ bank cards/ cell phone. We kept iPad/ laptop in the hotel.

One thing I discovered that worked well especially when it comes to minimizing my liquid toiletry items is to bring a Palmer's Coconut Swivel Stick , it can be used as a lip balm, hair, face, and skin moisturizer. It does have a very pleasant smell and it is absolutely light to pack. I took two during my New Zealand and Australia trips and it worked amazingly well. Another item I will not leave my home without on a trip is Propel Vitamin and Electrolytes powder mix. It is very light in your luggage and comes in small packets, it is great especially when you are walking/hiking during your trip by mixing it with your water to keep you hydrated and nourished along the way.

Thanks for the coconut oil tip! Some of my favorite hacks for reducing liquids/toiletries include: 1) ColorScience SPF 50 POWDER sunscreen with brush (expensive but works incredibly well, & they have 3 for 2 deals on website); 2) transferring just the amount of foundation etc. that's needed into a smaller container; 3) temporarily using a tooth powder vs. paste (more abrasive, so personally not be ideal for long-term use); 4) lipliners + one lip balm instead of multiple lipsticks; 5) laundry strips (can tear off just what you need for hand washing, & saves the hassle of purchasing laundry soap while traveling). I love finding new ways to pack lighter and lighter so I can focus on the fun of travel!

For the afternoon I always wear shorts, so I take only 1 or 2 shorts and a bunch of very VERY light tops, I figure that when I sweat its mostly my upper body, so I can wear the same shorts many more times without the need of washing them often, and bringing very light tops I can pack MANY of them in the same space as a regular shirt or blouse would take Because we like going for dinner at night to fancy restaurants, I also bring 2 nice dresses that they both can be use as casual or formal by just changing or adding a belt, earrings, necklace, shoes, make up....,even just putting red lipsticks, fixing my hair in a chignon and a pair of nice pearl earings completely changes the look of the same outfit from casual to a fancy "fine dining" outfit

I loved this video! 3 years ago my daughter and I spent 3 weeks traveling through Europe (13 countries) with just a backpack and we had a BLAST! I did pretty good with packing for my first time in Europe but your video would have been helpful. As I was posting our adventures I encouraged friends and family to have the big adventures too. Everyone assumed flights between countries would be expensive (like here in the US) but they were CRAZY affordable. We literally spent 1 day in Scotland because the flight and AirBnb was less than $100 from London.

Pamela Miller you really need to have the actual thing - not a photocopy ( not only because of the id aspect but you need to be able to present an id together with your creditcard if they ask- a drivers licence or ID card Will do if you want to keep your passport at your hotel)
@janstickles30355 жыл бұрын
NEVER EVER LEAVE YOUR PASSPORT IN YOUR HOTEL. It is your identification. When you are in your home country do you carry around a copy of your drivers license and leave the original locked away? NO, because it is the official way that you identify yourself most often. When travelling abroad keep your passport with you as you would your drivers license.
@janstickles30355 жыл бұрын
@@risemahadeva - also it is a good idea if travelling abroad to find out the location and contact information for the US Embassy or US Consulate. In the event that as you say something happens, ( For example if passport is lost or stolen) you will need to contact them immediately.

Finally a "pack light" and still look stylish video! So many videos are full of clothing options so dull I'd never want a picture of me from the trip! Just ordered the "bra wallet" and your packing cubes, love the shape, better than the huge squares. I also like wearing pants on planes/trains, easier to grab bags without too much skin. Only thing I would add would be a light pashmina as blanket on planes and instead of a jacket at night.

Hi, I see you are from the UK but all your links are for US. I am trying to buy the Travelon Anti-Theft Messenger Bag for my trip for Saturday and I cannot find it on Amazon on normal Prime but only under the Global Store for very high price and waiting for up to a month for delivery. Similar with the Compass Rose Bra Stash. Anyway you can help or link me please? Thanks
@Travelfashiongirl5 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I am afraid that the Compass Rose Bra Stash is currently out of stock and will not be available to buy again for around 2 more weeks. Try this link: amzn.to/2XOoKOE If this still is not what you are looking for let us know. Happy travels!

Best allergy trick, buy local honey from a beekeeper near where you live and use it in tea or on toast. It doesn't take long but you allergies will get better. You will still have issues when you travel but you will be better locally.

@@Travelfashiongirl I used to have horrible allergies and I met a local beekeeper just before I turned 40, he gave me a bottle of his liquid gold and it cured me. I have faithfully purchased local honey ever since and now I don't get sick much. P.S. thank you for your tips, I am going to Europe next week for three weeks. I have taken a lot of my suitcase because of you.

Really enjoyed your video. We have traveled every year for 22 years except for 2 years because of the pandemic, usually to Europe. I am definitely an overpacker and feel encouraged after watching your video to cut back. We always have a washer, at least, since we stay in airbnb. We leave for Portugal for 3 weeks next week, so I will take the plunge to 'packing light' Cheers and thank you.

Thank you for this video. I am going to Switzerland, Germany and France this August. It will probably be warm. Should I stick with dresses during the day or should I bring longer shorts? How about capris? Thank you for your response.
@Travelfashiongirl5 жыл бұрын
Hi Cyndie, it would depend on what you feel comfortable wearing. Because every woman has unique needs and style preferences, it’s up to you to apply the principles we share and adapt them to your needs. If you love wearing dresses, then they are a great and versatile option to pack for your trip. Also last year there was a heatwave which lasted all summer so definitely check the forecast right before you leave to ensure you have packed the most appropriate clothing! For more help with your packing, have a look at our 10 step guide to Europe: www.travelfashiongirl.com/10-step-packing-guide-europe/ Hope you have an incredible trip!

Its interesting what we each consider “minimal” for toiletries. I was thinking I could easily pack 1/2 to 1/3 of what you packed. Thanks so much for sharing. Good information! BTW. Love the Anatomie line but holy cow its expensive. Will be buying the storage cubes though for our upcoming train trip!!

Scotland is stunning, but it can be cold and it rains a LOT, even in Summer. Don't pack *too* lightly for then (keep some jumpers/sweaters/pullovers and a lightweight raincoat just in case). Have a great trip! :)

Can you bring all of that stuff on the plane from Canada/USA to Europe? Im referring to the antibacterials and allergy meds?
@Travelfashiongirl5 жыл бұрын
Hi Megan, we flew from Heathrow airport and had no problems with our liquids or allergy meds. You would need to research the rules and requirements of the airport you were flying out from, the problem is that there isn’t worldwide agreement on the liquids rule so this means that every airport varies from country to country. Hope this helps. Happy travels. 😀

Portugal was never on my list of countries to visit and it's been one of my favorite countries so far! If it hadn't been because I went on a two-week transatlantic cruise from Cartagena, Colombia to Lisbon, Portugal. I would've never thought of going and man was I missing out. I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday the weekend of the big San Antonio festivities in Lisbon in June - it was so much fun and the city was beautiful (and the food so delicious, too)! So pleased you had such an incredible time there too!!!!
@JenShea5 жыл бұрын
@@Travelfashiongirl I have the same experience as you - but different! Portugal had never been on my radar and in fact friends of mine went and for some reason I thought she didn't enjoy it (she was in fact telling me about one incident and that's all I remembered from our conversation a few years later). I had just put my Mum into a LTC facility and had to go through all her house, go through all her things, then sell her house and I was physically and emotionally burnt out afterwards. Then, like magic, a friend who owns a home near Peniche mentioned to a few of us she was renting it out while she went home for a few months and asked if anyone wanted to rent it. Without any second thought, I said yes. Not so much because of the location (because I didn't know much about Portugal) but because I desperately need to get away. I studied geography & history in school. I took Travel & Tourism in college. I worked for an airline years ago. My bucket list is big... I had France, Italy, Spain, Greece... England... and more on my list - but not Portugal. I FELL IN LOVE with it!! The best surprise ever. I simply had no idea (although I did do a lot of research once I booked my flights (less than a month after saying yes to going). I was alone there for 3 months except for 2 separate visits from home (Canada) and I never wanted to leave. I have life-long friends there now and I cannot wait to move and make it my home too!! When I'm living there, you can come for another visit ;)

Thank you so much for this video! I am preparing my very first trip to Europe and while I am over the moon with excitement I am also very nervous. This was really helpful for me in understanding exactly how to pack. I’m wondering if you would go into more detail about your toiletry bag? I know you show the tubes and the containers, but I’d love to know what you’re putting in them and where you got them. I think the toiletry section is a bit of a struggle for me.
