Del Toro would agree with you on Mimic. He's gone on record to say it's his worst movie. Too much studio meddling there. But I do find your take on Pan's Labyrinth interesting. Maybe because it holds a very special place in my heart from my early childhood but that is absolutely my favorite del Toro film and my favorite film of all time. The oppressively sad tone of the film really just kind of pulls me into it for some reason and doesn't let me go. The effects, the performances, the music, its simple but incredibly effective story. I always manage to well up listening to that iconic lullaby. Now I'm curious of your del Toro ranking thus far 🤔

Nice, glad you liked Casper! People have always been split down the middle on that one.. sure it has that mid-90s cheese and some shameless cameos, but it's still pretty "dark" for a PG film while tackling death and afterlife throughout.. I remember some people thinking it was "too dark" but it was honestly just a normal kids film at the time.. I always say that the final 10 minutes alone are worth the price of admission, sh!t gets me every time lol.. feels like I've been talking about Ricci a lot recently and I'm always here for that lol, but she made headlines a few years ago for saying she hates her performance in Casper, I know she takes her performances seriously, but she isn't even bad in it.. half the film was her and Bill Pullman basically acting against tennis balls on a stick and just praying that post-production won't make them look like bad actors lol.. and now you're obligated to watch Now and Then, another 1995 film starring Ricci and Sawa, and you won't have to wait 90 minutes for Sawa to show up lol.. also has Thora Birch and Gaby Hoffmann plus a goated Brendan Fraser cameo.. it's a female coming of age film taking place in the summer of 1970.. it's the ultimate slumber party movie for girls, but guys like it too.. was obsessed with it when I was 12 but it's still incredible to this day, I still watch it, it's a cult classic, they don't make em like that anymore, I think you'd love it.. I always liked The Night of the Living Dead remake more than the original, but I also saw the remake before I saw the original, so maybe that plays a part in it.. I do agree that it doesn't stray too far from the OG, but I personally think that can sometimes be a good thing.. or it can be a bad thing like with the Psycho remake lol.. Don't know when you're leaving, but safe travels Kylie! Have a blast!

I absolutely agree that children are some of the smartest people in our society. It always frustrates me when studios just produce the most idiotic shit and market them towards kids. When people say, “Don’t take it seriously, it’s a kids movie”, I just roll my eyes. Kids deserve better! On a side note, if you’re a fan of courtroom dramas, I highly recommend To Kill A Mockingbird, the film and the book. It’s very dark, but it’s also very good and has some wonderful messages in my opinion.

Seriously it sounds like you were excited about March. 👍 I’m going to have to catch Anatomy of a Fall. 🧐 still have not seen Love, lies, bleeding. You may not think it’s not my kind of movie but I love good cinema that has an engaging story. Ferris Bueller’s Day off. Glad you cracked open the steelbook. 😁 Yes a good feel good movie that makes you think what comes next in life. Glad you watched I Am Legend. Because I heard they are making a sequel of it. 🧐 Nice that you have a copy to watch. 👍🙂 Yes keep your copy of Mimic, it’s got some good stuff. Plus it’s in New York. 🙂 I was watching another channel that reviews film. He had just reviewed The First Omen. He really like it and said that he feels it’s starting out as a good year for Horror. 🧐🙂

When I tell you, Devon Sawa saying 'can I keep you' put him on my wall for at least two years of my adolescence lol I can't do I Am Legend. There are some movies that are hard no's due to doggy things (Horror or otherwise). I am Legend, Marley and Me... I don't mind crying at a movie. The Whale destroyed my soul, but I can't do dog sad lol I still need to do Pans Labyrinth. I watched Blood and Honey, finally. Only because of the apologies issued to you and Cody lol It was a rough go. The slasher portion was fine, but I really didn't care about any of the characters. I'm looking forward to seeing how they improved the second one.

If my memory serves me right, Mimic was GDT's first foray into Hollywood and the studio (more so Harvey Weinstein, who reportedly stormed onto the set and yelled that he didn't know how to direct a film or make it scary) tampered with it so much he somewhat disowned it.

Regarding your unfamiliarity with courtroom dramas, if you want to watch some more, definitely seek out the original _12 Angry Men_ as well as _A Few Good Men._ The former is considered one of the greatest films of all time for a very good reason, and the latter has some of the snappiest dialogue of the nineties.

Nice recap! Such a great way to send off women’s history month and the movies seem to finally be getting better! Thank satan! Haha lol yeah Scorsese really needs to be considerate of our bladders! Lmao i remember seeing the Tarantino movie the hateful eight in theaters and it had an intermission which I really needed cuz I had to pee too! I got up, went to the bathroom, and made it back before the movie resumed lol need more intermissions! Saw the Thomas f Wilson KZbin video and it was great! Ive heard this theory that the best kinda people with good personalities are the best to play villains and bullies in movie believably! I remember first watching the house bunny on tv and I liked it! The cast is solid and I like Anna faris’ dumb schtick, she’s does it in a way that’s so funny Man, I’m totally Cameron hahaha he’s kinda my spirit animal Yeah I can agree that night of the living dead wasn’t different enough from the original. I don’t think they were trying to reinvent the wheel or anything, the producers just finally wanted to make some money off of it with all that copyright drama with the og. Like even though it was made for money, it was made with respect by the producers of the original. The only thing sucks is that savini had much more fire that ended up being taken out by the MPAA! Damn them! Haha I got to see immaculate last weekend! Overall I thought it was meh, jumpscares and old ladies weren’t really doing much for me lol the ending was interesting though! Usually movies with religion in them are more supernatural or demonic behind it’s explanation for the villain but for this movie to go the more scientific approach was different. The very ending was bonkers!! You mentioned how it could upset pro-lifers, man do I have real life horror stories from where I’m from, you would be triggered for sure! It’s sad tbh but that ending needs to be shown to all the lame republicans haha Wow! That’s so cool that everyone made up following the blood and honey drama made up! So cool of them to invite you to the premiere too. We don’t need to divide each other being horror fans lol just glad they finally got their shit together lmao Man, I’m so jealous you got to meet Harry Manfredini!! Mr KI KI KI MA MA MA! Lolol Thank you again for the recap and thoughts! I love how insightful and informative your opinions are on these movies.

I also do not like Pan's Labyrinth. It's a yawnfest with some great looking fantasy stuff, and then a bunch of really dark political stuff, and just feels like a jumbled mess with a terrible ending. I'm not a fan of Guillermo del Toro in general. I think he and his movies are highly overrated, The Shape of Water being another one people go on about when it's just kinda meh. He doesn't make bad movies, but when they get so hyped up and then I watch them I'm always disappointed because I just don't get why people lose their freaking minds over his films. His earlier (Spanish) films are certainly better than his later (Hollywood) ones. And I'll never forgive him for the mess that became the 14 Hobbit films before he jumped ship to make Robot Jox. I do not recommended his Cabinet of Curiosities series either. I've watched it and I cannot remember a single episode. Him waddling about at the beginning of each episode doing an Alfred Hitchcock is probably the best thing about it. Oh, Hellboy was also pretty great, Hellboy 2 is a stinky mess.
