It’s fucking hilarious that Vince Vaughn auditioned to play Billy in real life, and ended up being Stu Macher in Stab

I dont think they had to know goosebumps to think of the scray dummy idea, like one of the earliest horror films, and the first killer doll movie centered the same style of dummy (Dead of Night from 1945). Its also the most standard type of ventriloquist doll, i even have one myself that i put in the window next to my front door to scare people passing by.

I dropped off Saw after 3. It felt too mean spirited, with the protagonist not learning a single lesson after everything. And then Kramer’s captive doctor getting blown up because of it? Just too deeply cynical for my taste.

Just watched Slumber Party Massacre, had no idea there was a recent remake. Deeply a Corman enterprise. The random nudity didn’t fit at all with the rest of the movie.

it probably is the best werewolf film, but it has issues. The main plot issue being the 5 hour drive from Yorkshire to London. Why was David not in a hospital in Yorkshire?

Lee went through serious child trauma, cause of her mother. Her mother said, nobody ever came to visit. So instead of really fighting off or killing Mr. LongLegs, she works with him. Likely out of boredom. For decades. She was bored & wanted some crazy excitement. So helped kill families for a odd Satanic plot. Who knows what lee saw before getting her memory blocked. Likely child protective services took Lee away from her mother at some point. Her mother is the true villain. Didn't even acknowledge lee as her daughter anymore 😮💥

I went to an 11:15 am showing and I was the only one in the theater. I adored this movie. So well done. And, at least for me, the exposition worked. It happened organically with Ruth explaining to Lee the deal she made, and why.

What about Legend of Hell House with Roddy McDoeell Clive Reville. A group of psychics,a paranormal investigator and his wife go to a haunted house to investigate, solve the why's of the haunting and to '" cleanse " the house of its demons. Cameo of Michael Gough a Hammer films regular.

I guess younger people don’t find Depp’s Wonka and Mad Hatter performances weird for weird’s sake and just annoying. 1:22:19 It makes more sense when you say you get high a lot watching these. 1:24:30...I think you are too young to remember the Satanic Panic of the 80s and if you were goth then, you were bullied non stop. We died on the hill so you could make your videos.

What is funny is the Tim Burton movies you love I cannot stand and the early ones I like (I am that 40 year old…though we are more 50) you cannot stand. So I think we just like different eras. But neither of us are attracted to Dumbo. Dumbo is bland but that is what happens when you try to please everyone. Or Planet of the Apes. I do think Beetlejuice holds up but it’s a kids movie with a F bomb…so it is what it is. :) Yet if people didn’t like the early stuff, there wouldn’t be the later stuff. With Batman, you probably never saw the Adam West Batman and I feel Burton is pulling on that but making it darker. I cannot wait to see if your whole catalog of videos is you not liking most of the films. Could be amusing.

I didn’t like Dumbo because it wasn’t a musical and wasn’t animal focused. It was more about the family, which I felt was boring.

I rewatched this one a few years back, and it sadly didn’t hold up for me, but I still absolutely love all the creature designs. The Chiodo Bros have such a distinct stamp on the creatures they make. They ride such a unique line between goofy and grotesque. There is such character in all their creatures. Love it!

Glad you had fun with it! Clowns were popular but ran its course and wasn't really taken seriously by kids in the 90s, yeah magicians took over lol.. always been fascinated by clowns, they never scared me but they're still weird and creepy.. I remember in the 2010s there was a clown phenomenon where there'd be sightings everywhere.. if I was driving at midnight and came across a clown just standing alone I'd definitely be terrified lmao..

I think this film would be more beloved if it was a bit more like Se7en than it is Zodiac, if that makes sense. I think the element of "mystery" in the film gives the idea that audiences are going to receive a satisfying answer to what all is happening, and that creates an expectation that is naturally going to disappoint. On a rewatch, it's very obvious that Satan is present throughout this movie, but even as someone who went in fairly blind, I didn't really have any inkling that this was *that* kind of horror movie until Browning mentions that Longlegs is a devil worshipper. I might be alone in this, but "it was Satan who powered this entire plan" kind of feels like the mystery is solved via deus ex machina. On a rewatch, I think the film earns it, but I think audiences are right to feel that this element is a little lazy. Your comments on Lee Harker are totally spot on, btw. She is my type, I'm afraid. Great recap and analysis, as always!

This was fun! What did you think of the movie this time around? Was it enhanced by watching with the cult? Have your thoughts improved or remained the same? It looked like you had a good time so I’m expecting a heart lol It would be so cool to send me your poems or lyrical ideas cuz I feel like many different musicians with different styles can make interesting versions of the same lyric. Like same words but totally different songs. Love that you’re getting more into music! Even in your sleep!!
