A house is most often viewed as a status symbol. So many feel the need to have enormous homes to appear successful. I would prefer to downsize & declutter my life, help loved ones, see the world. & do stuff for charities.... & Would probably still have change left over. In addition a house this size would be a headache to maintain, keep clean & secure.....& Your privacy would be gone.

Interesting that all these slightly used behemoths are for sale. I don't think they say "home" to anybody or ever will. Reminds me of the big houses built for E.T. Stotesbury (probably all smaller than any of these). When the Stotesburys left one house for another (depending what season it was) they would essentially fire their servants until their return, many months later, then rehire. The Stotesburys (deservedly?) died nearly broke.
