This new Periphery album is fantastic, Wax Wings and Dying Star make me cry they are so touching, you will definitely love them if you loved Stranger Things, this song is almost the meme of the album IMO since it's so heavy, you need to hear what this song leads into 😂

After listening to his new album, I took a look at his discography, and I really recommend listening to The Bad Thing (it's on the same album as Stranger Things) and its official video gives a complete plus to the song, but well, that's my humble recommendation, if someone will agree with me they will like this comment haha

You hit the nail on the head when you said it reminds you of Dillinger Escape Plan. I recently listened to a podcast where Mark Holcomb (one of the Periphery guitarists) said they had some DEP "worship" on the album. I think Periphery respect them a lot and definitely take influence from them. Chvrch Bvrner on P4 was also very Dillinger Escape Plan-esque.

Periphery is one of my all time favorites, with that said Spencer can be hit or miss with certain tracks, overall though I think Spencer is incredible I will fight to the death that Satellites is one of the best works he's ever done.

Great react! I definitely got Dillinger from this one too, super phrenetic. The first slow down in tempo in the tail-end of the song really took me by surprise and just made that section really slam for me. There's some very visceral and cathartic about the song too, one to listen to at the end of tough shift at work I think. As a complete contrast to Periphery, I'm really digging Karnivool's "Sound Awake" again recently in particular the song "Goliath". They often get compared to Tool and yeah, their singer has a certain Maynard sensibility about his voice, but they are definitely their own animal. Would be really interesting to hear your take on it. Case.

I don’t think I’ve clicked on a reaction faster lmfaoooo!! This song reminds me of a few from their back catalogue (notably CHVRCH BVRNER from their previous album) like Blood Eagle and The Price is Wrong, maybe a little bit of Follow Your Ghost, and the snare overall on this album reminds me of the one from PIII: Select Difficulty. Spence was doing an Insta live the other day, had Matt next to him, it was a Q&A and at one point he was asked if there were any of his riffs (he plays guitar too!) on this album, and one of them is in this song behind the guitar solo 🥵 Sorry for the info dump, I just love these guys and I really enjoy your reactions as well haha! 👌🏼

What you stated at 8:08 is exactly what I want people to understand about metal music. Its much more than "noise," it is anger and aggression released through art and musicianship LMAO at 10:04 that is extremely true as well! I bet this song could work really well while doing workout. This song has really grown on me the more I listen to it. But then I again, it's like that with every song with them because of how complex and wide their music is. I don't know which song/songs I'd suggest checking out from their older work. It's just too many great picks. Rainbow Gravity, The Bad Thing, Letter Experience, Jetpack Was Yes!, Absolomb, Flatline, Erised John Petrucci from Dream Theater is having a guest solo, Have A Blast the one and only Guthrie Govan is having a guest solo. I can't pick, haha!

Dude, gotta listen to Make Total Destroy, Icarus Lives!, and Flatline. They are by far my favorites, with both catchy and heavy, and I think you’ll enjoy them. Wax Wings is a good clean/catchy one from the new album

I agree with you about the singer. I think Periphery was MUCH better years ago when they temporarily had a singer named Casey Sabol. You should listen to their song named "Inertia" with Casey Sabol in it. You'll see what I'm talking about. Casey was the best match.
