Kuina is such an amazing character. I think she represents Caterpillar/Butterfly in the Alice in Wonderland storyline. When she transitioned into a woman it represents the caterpillar blossoming into a butterfly. i found someone saying that in another reaction channel comment and I found it 🤌🏻

Kuina is the Kanji written on their clothes when she’s practicing karate with her dad, it’s their family name. Her parents are calling her by her first name Hikari, whereas rest of the people are calling her by her last name Kuina. Also, Arisu, Usagi, Chishiya, Ann, etc. are all last names. It’s not uncommon in Japan to call people by their last names unless you’re super close with them or a family member.

look, we appreciate that you guys genuinely like the show and i know that some parts can still be a little cringy, dramatic, and cliche and it's also easy to get lost and confused by the first watch or get hyped by the action, but i hope yall take the dialogue, the characters and their back stories more seriously and pay more attention. like last boss' back story (katana guy), his old life was literally empty, a blogger who wrote to no one. he despised his past and wanted to become a new person and being in borderland, amidst clearing life and death games, he began to somehow feel more alive and perhaps he indeed gradually had found his purpose, although by killing. whereas kuina/hikari, (hopefully was easy for yall to deduce that she's a transwoman), she might have harbored some degree of hate and anger with her past, especially with her unaccepting father but like what she said, while last boss was hell bent in burying his past, kuina persists through life by facing her past (her dad taught her karate and thus what played a huge part in her defeating last boss) "never hesitate to deliver the final blow"

Big fan of you guys but this reaction was kind of a hard watch. Sounds like you guys already decided that Squid Games is better and is being extra critical. This story is far more complex and creative than Squid Games. Like AOT you really need to pay attention to the dialogue and give the theatrics a chance since this is technically a manga. Still enjoy the videos nonetheless!

y'all need a few things to understand. 1. they ran out of bullets hence they didn't finish Ann 2. aside from Ann, there was a lot of militant who hesitated to kill someone for the most obvious reason there is, they still have morality left. 3. as to why they never get the guns from the militants, they don't know how to use one and might result to misfire. remember, they were civilians once with most of them never seeing guns and violence in their lifetime. it might also blur their sense of morality they have left. 4. Ann specializes in forensics like she said and what she's doing isn't useless. with enough time in the field, you can pretty much deduce a lot of things by hand. their dominant hand, their gender, their height and weight, and intent. if there's resistance when she was stabbed, if there's one or more suspect, and if it was a sneak attack. 5. subvert obvious expectations, i beg.

As much as I love the differently-designed games in the previous episodes, this episode is an episode of backstories, which definitely adds more depth to the show, making the show more than just about the games. There’s a metaphor of “old world vs new world characters”. The backstories show how similar yet also different Last Boss’s and Kuina’s characters are: They both don’t like their past, but what makes them different is - While Last Boss was turning his back to the past, Kuina was brave enough to look back, face and embrace her past while looking forward to the future; and while Last Boss wants to stay in this new world, Kuina actually wants to return to the old world to her mom with her new identity. The final episode of s1 is one of my favourite episodes for s1 of this show, along with episode 3. While all games requires some thinking, the final episode has the biggest plot twist for s1 and is what makes the writing of s1 of this show so great and beautiful.

It's true that watching you guys' reactions to this show in particular is a bit frustrating because it feels like a lot of the meat and spirit of the show flies over your heads (all the while you're also overanalysing stuff sometimes), and you guys tend to miss a lot of the dialogue and explanations. This show can indeed be very cheezy, over-the-top and anime-like (especially the last 2 episodes of the first season tbh), but also amazing if you get into the right vibe, take it seriously and appreciate it for what it is! It's Japanese so it's dialogue exposure heavy but mostly consistent and everything has an explanation (for instance, the two guys didn't shoot Ann because they said they were out of ammo before, as for Kuina she's simply trans), but often times the explanation comes later. I found season 2 to be a cut above in quality btw - watch out for the King of Clubs and Jack of Heart games, they are downright amazing. Shoutout from France! Loving your other reactions as well :)

I was forced to watch AIB by a friend, I'm very critical and judgmental too when it comes to consume any type of content, but at least I take it seriously, I mean if your going to be so brutal at least you have to pay attention, and holy I didn't expect that I would enjoy this series so much, it's very complex and leaves you glued to the edge of your seat at all times, of course it can be cheesy, but it's represented exactly as the manga so it is understandable (plus I consume anime and stageplays so I'm kinda used to it) but surprisingly the second season only gets better, and god that ending, I'm also a very theoretical person and I try to explain everything because I am very intuitive and impatient, but not in a million years would I have expected that ending but it's so satisfying that I would totally say it's one of the best I've seen in a long time.
