We have the New England Renaissance Faire in Lebanon CT. It goes on for 6 weekends in September and October every year. I enjoy it so much that I've been known to visit multiple times each year. When I first discovered it a few years ago, there was this elated feeling, like I'd found something that I didn't even know I'd been searching for. It felt like coming home.

Thank you , first I've come across this content , much appreciated . I was SO thankful for the path newly placed behind the end game stage . Physically it's been much needed , and new "real estate" for more vendors . Love that it's artisan centric. My son was sad for the maze being closed now . It appears ( if you peek over the fence where it had been)..... That they are building either another performance area , or a building for Fair workers needs perhaps.

You are very welcome! We are so glad that you found our content, and that you appreciate it!! It was a bummer to see the maze go as we were looking forward to doing it with our daughter this year. What is being built there is going to be an Absinthe Garden where they’ll have an Absinthe tasting experience. That does have us very excited!! The Faire hopes to have it open before the end of the season, but we haven’t seen much progress on it since we first saw in at Brewfest back in June.

These all look like great additions to the faire, especially the extra tables; which my mother and sister will no doubt feel very pleased with, after walking for quite a while. We are set to attend during the upcoming Viking Weekend, which is on the 17th and 18th of September and it's a theme I've yet to experience at the shire. Before we visit, I have but a few questions/comments regarding the new additions. 1. While it was mainly spoken in jest, my mother asked me if there were any spaces added where guests could lay down and take a nap along with all the new sitting areas. She's getting on in years and compared to our previous lodging area of the Hampton Inn, which was right across the street from the gates, THIS YEAR'S choice of lodging is fifteen minutes away from the gates. I only ask if there are any resting spots besides the tables because when we stayed at Hampton Inn; my mother could just walk or drive across the street to the hotel, rest for a bit and reconvene with my sister and I at the faire again. It's not a HUGE thing...but are there any rest spots added to the faire this year? 2. Are the weapons shoppes still doing business at the faire? I haven't visited in a couple of years due to the Pandemic and the Hampton Inn shutting down. So, I'm unsure if I can still buy a weapon there anymore. If I CAN; I hope to find a Chakram, a Scimitar, any copies of fantasy weaponry I don't have (be it D&D related, Game of Thrones related, Lord of the Rings related or whatever) or maybe a replica of King Arthur's sword, Excalibur. 3. Ironically, what the Faire calls "Beano" is more commonly known as Loteria in Mexico. It's the same concept as you described but in Loteria, there is more than ONE way to win than just getting a whole set in a row. 4. Even though I didn't see YOU or anyone else with them on, ARE masks still a requirement at the Faire or is the choice just up to the patrons? I'm asking because I am long overdue for some photo op moments and my family hopes to get a few. 5. On the cast list, I saw a performer wearing an orange dragon mask with big blue eyes and dragon hand gloves. What is this performer/vendor's name and where might I find them around the shire? Last but certainly not least, ARE...THERE...TURKEY LEGS?! Seriously, are there still giant turkey legs being served at the Faire? Of all the food served at there, I ALWAYS look forward to those most! I only ask if they're available because my mother brought up something about the Avian Flu and how it has affected chickens in a lot of places. I sincerely hope it hasn't had that same affect on the turkey population
@FromtheHobbitHole2 жыл бұрын
The addition of all the tables and umbrellas is such a good one, and they will definitely be well utilized as the season progresses! We’ll do our best to answer all of your questions… 1. There are no spaces that are specifically designed for patrons to lie down. Our suggestion, since going back to your hotel is very time consuming now, would be to bring a blanket and lie down under the shade of a tree if need be, or if the heat is what you need to escape, go hang out in the Anchor and Mermaid Tavern as it is air conditioned. 2. There are still a couple of weapons shops that are there for the entire season. We are unsure if any others will arrive as the season progresses. 3. How interesting! 4. Masks are NOT a requirement, but if you desire to wear them, you will not be shamed for it. There are still people that prefer to wear them. Also, you may see staff and cast of PRF wearing them if there was an exposure at any time during the week, since they have to follow the protocol for such an event. 5. The “performer” you saw is Fireflicker. This is a character that you can come across on the streets and have a meet and greet moment with them. Fireflicker is only going to be at PRF for a few more weeks. You can see us meeting this friendly dragon last season in this vlog: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYnYZKqLisd8j68 Lastly, YES, they have turkey legs. The price for one is a bit higher than pre-2020, but they are still here and just as tasty!

My son goes tomorrow for a school trip. What amount of $ do you think he should take for food/souvenirs?!
@FromtheHobbitHole2 жыл бұрын
Typically, food runs from $5-7 for small dishes/snacks to $10-12 for larger, more filling dishes. Drinks might be $2-8 depending on what it is. (We always bring our own water bottles and refill them at the water fountains.) Souvenirs are more difficult to gauge. It depends on what the child is looking for. There are small items/trinkets/t-shirts throughout the Shire that might be $5-30. Then you have your large souvenirs, such as Renaissance clothing and accessories, that runs $50-200+. Hopefully this helps! Please ask more questions if you need.

Good question! If you spend the whole day there (gates open at 10:45am with the arrival of the Queen and then the last show starts at 7pm and goes for about an hour to close out the day), then it really is worth it! If you are one to drink and eat a lot, yes it’ll get pricey, but we tend to not get super hungry while there and we bring our own water with us. There are so many fun shows to watch and neat shops and vendors to check out that it’s worth going at least once to see if you like it.

I opted for the PA (over the NY) Ren Faire and it as much bigger than the PA event I attended a few years ago… lucky I took my bike 🏍 and was able to fit it in close to the entrance because it probably took 1/2 hour to park and make your way back by 1PM! Everything was up to the usual standards (got a pic of FireFlicker!) but the only thing I will never do again is EAT at the Faire! I could have stopped for gourmet burger at Red Robin’s and not wait an hour in line for a burger that was burnt with packet ketchup and relish, mushy Fries and water downed Diet Coke - at the same price cover $20!?! Maybe a snack if the line is - sane - but EAT UP before you go! I also did not appreciate a couple of the cast going around FAMILIES asking their kids were a “boy” or “girl” and telling them that - at the fair - they could be whatever they wanted to be!?! Keep WOKE politics outta the narration and keep these ideas to oneself! People come to be entertained! Not to be preached to about transgendering nonsense. Hardly “period” appropriate.
