@@FromtheHobbitHole have you tried the new food items and overall what would you say is the best Ren Faire food?
@FromtheHobbitHole3 жыл бұрын
We’ve tried a few of the new things so far. The GIANT Everything Pretzel can feed a small army and is quite tasty. Hailey likes the Curry Wurst and the Potato Balls. If you want a snack, we recommend the Peasant Bread which is found at the Funnel Cake stand. The scotch eggs and fish n’ chips are always good classics! We’ve been wanting to try the new Grilled Cheese stand because they have some unique options so that’s on the list for an upcoming week. Turkey legs are good but a bit pricey. One of the best bang-for-your-buck snacks is a pickle on a stick. One for $3 or 2 for $5. Did we answer your question thoroughly enough?? 😜😂
@colinshanta10013 жыл бұрын
@@FromtheHobbitHole yes, thank you for the suggestions. I've always been a turkey leg and pickle person myself, but finally tried a scotch egg in 2019 and was immediately hooked. I'll follow your lead this year and try out the giant pretzel and Peasant Bread.

I am going with my Husband's DnD clan and we are getting all dressed up. This video was soo helpful! Hopefully we can see more before we go in October for Celtic Weekend
@FromtheHobbitHole3 жыл бұрын
That’s awesome!! If you are DnD fans, make sure to watch Two Bard Party when you’re there. You’ll all love them! They are only arriving to Faire mid September, though, but that shouldn’t be an issue for you since it sounds like you’re coming towards the end of the season. If you want, we have vlogs from previous PRF seasons that you can check out! Some foods we eat and performers you see us enjoy in previous years may not be at the Faire this year, so don’t plan on seeing/eating the exact same things you see from years past. PRF likes to change things up year to year in order to keep it fresh. Here’s the link to the playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PL_G0COToSYw73uVlnn00IieFJdpc-3WOI

Sadly, my family and I can't attend the faire this year; mainly because the main lodging facility we always stayed at (the Hampton Inn) was closed down until (possibly) further notice. This was an inconvenience for us because we preferred this place for its location, which is right across the street from the shire gates. Sure, there were other inns and hotels in the area...but THEY are a half hour away and my mother doesn't want to drive thirty minutes to and from the faire when she could just go in her car and drive back across the street to the Hampton in less than a minute. I hope the place reopens next year and that the COVID crisis will be less of an issue, NEXT year. After seeing these new additions to the faire, I feel really bad for sitting out
@FromtheHobbitHole3 жыл бұрын
We know of people that stay at the Penns Woods Inn just down the street from the Faire and they say it’s nice. As for the Hampton across the street, from what we heard, it was not a place you wanted to stay. Lots of health code violations and illegal workings happening there (that’s why Hampton Corp shut the place down when they found out how to franchise owners were operating it). To put things in perspective….we drive about 30min each way to get to the Faire from where we live. It’s not a terrible drive, but when you are used to being so close, we can see why it doesn’t seem preferable.
@sadlobster13 жыл бұрын
@@FromtheHobbitHole Funny, we've stayed at the Hampton for one weekend at the fair for sometime and we never ONCE dealt with these negative aspects of the place. Our rooms have always been clean, the staff was friendly to us and my mother, who's getting on in years, preferred the right across the street location because anytime she wanted, she could drive back to the hotel and relax in her room for a spell before rejoining me and my sister at the faire grounds later. Speaking of, my sister loved the place because of the breakfasts they served downstairs in the lobby every morning AND the fact she got to sleep in a bed much bigger than her own at home. So, you can see why we all love the place so much and why we're hoping it will reopen next year; once the new management possibly fixes things
@FromtheHobbitHole3 жыл бұрын
You aren’t the first person to make known the love of that place. Maybe the issues that closed it down were more pandemic protocol related? 🤷🏻♂️ We don’t know the full details…only rumors from reliable sources.

I liked the old style setup for the jousts
@FromtheHobbitHole3 жыл бұрын
The old style definitely did have a nice aesthetic and more try color tones to the period…we won’t deny that, but it was soooooo unsafe for the actors to be on it!! It was deteriorating really bad! From what we’ve heard around Faire, this is not the final look for the joust stage. This was what they could do with lumber costs being high and coming off of the pandemic. The final envisioned stage, if they are able to build it the way they want, will be quite amazing!

@FromtheHobbitHole3 жыл бұрын
We’ve tried a couple new food offerings this year and was blown away! Maybe you got something that wasn’t the best? It does seem like the selection of food isn’t as good as it has been in the past, but we are giving the Faire the benefit of the doubt since there are still shortages on different food items due to the pandemic so they probably designed their menu around the types of food they can easily get.
