We went to WDW this year and the maintenance and cleanliness levels were down. Last year I went to Universal for the first time and, frankly, if I go to a park this or next year it will be this park. And I have been a loyal Disney parks fan since '72, gone 30+ times, stayed at most of the resorts, been to Disneyland, etc.

Same, Disney just does not instil that nostalgia of my childhood that it use to. It no longer has that magic and you can even see it in the cast members seeming more tired and agitated then they once were.

@@the_traveling_texanfor me it was faded and/or chipped paint. A dead lifeless Sonny Eclipse was another. How hard was it to turn him on? Or at least have him go on break elsewhere. Ended up having to listen to his music on my PHONE! Yeah, I was THAT jerk. But there were many many MANY other things Disney dropped the ball on. Disappointment after disappointment. I kept telling myself it was COVID, but ended up making a last minute trip to Universal at the airport (flights and school canceled), and it was a night and day difference. Instead of waiting 30-45 minutes for a bus every single time versus the standard 7, (TWO HOURS just to get to Disney Springs) we waited 0-5 minutes each time (total of 6 for the Universal trip). Instead of wasting TWO HOURS to ride a ride, and having to give up out of fear that we would be charged $20 a person for missing our dining reservation, we waited 2 minutes, was texted about our reservation, responded, AND got a reply about taking as much time as we needed, and then getting a free express pass for the inconvenience. We wasted TWO HOURS at Disney, and got nothing! They used to give out fast passes for stuff like that! Anyway, I could write a book about all that happened, like no animals at Animal Kingdom beyond one show and the Safari, but I don’t think you’d read all the nonsense that went on, as it was A LOT, for one single trip.

Ironically, TOT has become the icon of Hollywood Studios in the past several years. First it was the water tower, the Chinese Theater, and the (awful) Socerer Mickey hat. That park has enough identity crisis that I hope TOT stays the same for many years to come.

lol, I always thought it was funny that a temporary pin store remained for so long, that it became all that many knew. Like, they had no knowledge that it was blocking the view of the iconic theater, or that it ruined a ginormous hidden Mickey by being there. But when they finally got around to removing it, people freaked because it was their childhood. It was the park icon they knew.

They are small manufactured homes called "tiny houses." My wife and I looked them as a possibility for a retirement home. No deal! Regular travel trailers are far more comfortable, so were getting one of those, instead. But you're right. They're essentially mobile homes.

And disney needed to be expanding much faster then they have. They were making up for a decade of underinvestment and still a number of attractions have been replacements and not the true expansion they need. The bottom line is their underinvestment has given their main competitor the confidence to build an entire new park. @@WDWNT

I, like many people, thought that Mission Breakout was coming to Paris. But I really don't think it will now. The Hollywood Tower Hotel will fit perfectly in this new theatre district that's coming to the front of the park. What I'm really holding out hope for is this new Multivere ride getting built where the Stunt show arena is!

First, while I agree that Dinoland USA (or at least the carnival portion) isn’t the best that Disney could offer, that doesn’t mean that I want prehistoric animal representation to be removed entirely, like what has apparently been announced. Second, I highly doubt that Disney will want characters from an R-rated film to be represented in the parks, no matter how much any of us want the X-Men to show up. Aside from that, I agree with you all the way!

​@knightofarkronia9968 I definitely agree with you on all counts, although there could be precedence for R rated movies represented, since Alien and The Good The Bad and The Ugly were part of the Great Movie Ride. But I know we are so far removed from that era of Disney, we might as well have slipped into an alternate universe. Who knows though, someone at Disney is eventually going to realize that people would pay for Genie+ to meet Wolverine or Beast.

So I know this is easily googleable, but I trust the WDWNT community to help me out :) So, how does the new Fantasy Springs at Tokyo Disney Sea not overlap with what must be a Fantasyland that exists at Tokyo Disney? There wasn’t already a Peter Pan themed area (let alone the Flight ride) in the Castle park? Obviously Fantasy Springs is gonna be awesome I’m just wondering how this expansion at Sea is not seen to take away from what the Castle park does next door. There’s just the old Peter Pan’s Flight ride and a pizza window restaurant named for Captain Hook in the old park, this is an entire are where you actually get to enter Neverland. There’s 2 rides, restaurants, stores, and more in this section alone.

I totally agree with this comment tbf! DisneySea couldn't be further from a castle park, yet the expansion contains 3 areas that belong in Fantasyland. However, let's just hope it works at adding much needed capacity to this mega busy park. It would be nice to be able to ride something more than once in day 😆

It's a shame that DCL doesn't seem to be utilizing Lookout Cay much for the next couple of years. It seems that The Magic and The Fantasy are the only one's using it at all this year? Why not have it being tested with all of the ships in the area at some point this year?

The dream is doing sailings there in winter 2024 and the wonder isn’t going to be anywhere on the east coast this year. They might have some contracts with Nassau which might be why the wish isn’t going to lookout point instead. They still want to use castaway key so might as well keep the itinerary of the newest ship the same.

I don't understand the carpet in the elevator in the grand flow. Everyone says tile is better to clean. They ripped out the charm of the birdcage elevator and made it DUMB AF! The removable of the band was a BIG sin for sure!

As a long time camper at Fort Wilderness (motor home), so disappointed in new cabins. They are what elites call glamping, nothing to do with camping. Not what FW was meant to be when planned. At least the cabins fit the intent and the look.kind of a Davy Crockett cabin in the Wilderness

Now they are letting us do lighting lanes prior to entry to help with planning your day. I thought the whole reason for genie was planning your day, now they are going back to the old way of planning rides prior to entry? Why do we need genie if it doesn’t help with planning. They admitted it doesn’t help. Oh I get it just another way to charge families for perks that used to be free. Gotta trip planned this month I can’t wait! Thank god the park reservation system is going away. It was completely asinine for the non-locals who were coming in for a planned vacation. If a family of four bought 7 day tickets and a 7 day hotel stay they should have had guaranteed access to the parks without having to fool around getting a reservation. Was there actually any doubt that a family who spent thousands of dollars to travel to Disney World, buy tickets and pay for a hotel would actually not plan on going into the parks. You really had to love the Chapek era of reasoning that went into that decision.

I'm just patiently waiting for the second gate announcement at Shanghai. Regardless of what Iger had to say politically, the Shanghai park brought in so much CASH to the company that it doesn't make sense of stop growing it. Yeah it's a bad park, but if you think of the Shanghai park as a unique entity separate from all other parks (which I think is actually the best way to think of it), it accomplished all its goals and I think the Chinese market is now ready for a second serving.

Yeah, I’m sorry. I also have to agree with the “Karens” and point out how after mentioning “broken English,” it was implied that it wasn’t the persons native tongue, therefore the “stay in school” part doesn’t really apply and was totally uncalled for. I took 3 years of Spanish in high school and one year in college, and probably sound much worse than that person did despite “staying in school.” That’s the type of comment you say about the person who assaulted the cast member. I think Tom is forgetting that he represents all of WDWNT, so he can’t really act the same way he does around his friends. A little more professionalism is requested here. The only thing that’s cool coming from anything Disney parks is the Main St Electrical drone show, other than that, it’s theme parks have been weak for the past decade (especially state side) Disney just takes an old ride and just makes a facelift and call it a day as a new ride, lol. Never mind it takes Disney years to build an attraction. Universal is beating them in their own game, not just in experience but making innovative rides and lighting literally a new theme park in lightning speed.
