Public transportation is cheaper than people realize, at least for people who don't have a car at all, you pay a lot of money for car every year even when you don't use it a lot, but every car person is saying how expensive public transportation is, but he is paying like 1000 eur/year just for some basic service + cost of fuel, taxes, insurancy and parking in some places. When I pay like 100 CZK for some 1 hour train trip, it looks expensive, but it's not that expensive when you count all costs of having a car, if you live in Prague and you don't leave Prague often, you can buy year pass for 140 eur, that's almost for free.

Great video :) I don't get France as center of Europe though. Just looking at the map, from geographical PoV, if we consider eastern europe to be europe (in my view europe ends with Ukraine), Czechland or Poland seem to be smack in the middle.
@ArepasforDinner2 жыл бұрын
Yeah true that but still everything on the East of France is not what we consider the typical Europe (America point of view) is like knowing that méxico is North America but somehow it feels like it is not!.. from France is easy to get to Austria Italy UK Portugal. From cz is easy to get to Austria even maybe France but nothing more west

@@ArepasforDinner Then look at how easy it is to get to Finland or Kazakhstan from France - yes, even those are in Europe. :-)

@@ijacek sorry this upsets you. It’s just how I see it. And I won’t change my mind! Nobody goes there. Yet everyone goes to Spain and Portugal so there’s that
@ijacek2 жыл бұрын
@@ArepasforDinner no worries, I'm not upset. It's good to share opinions. So it seems to me it's given by people around you too. When I look at my friends, they definitely go more often to Scandinavia, Ukraine or Balkan than France or Spain. So in my case, it's far from "nobody". I guess that Czechs cover pretty much whole Europe during their travels than it would be common in France for example. Maybe that's another reason why we feel to be in the center :-)

Can I have a beer while I am riding a bike? or does the zero 0.0 tolerance law apply to operating a bike also? Thanks

It does! You can’t drink and bike. But tbh I don’t know anyone that follows that law 😂💜💜💜

You can drink low or non alcoholic beer, currently very popular. The most affordable brand is Birell. In fact, all major Czech breweries brew them

One other amazing thing about Czech Republic is that it is I think second most atheistic countries in Europe. I think just a little behind Sweden. It is great to see a country not run by superstitious nonsense.

The food is generally good, but what's the deal with that universal brown sauce? I had a pork loin and my wife ordered a fish. Both came covered with the same sauce. My buddies laughed and said that it's UHO (universalni hneda omacka.) That's a piece of disgusting on otherwise good cuisine. Sausages and beer are the best, no contest. Focus on the good things and you won't mind the bad ones!
@ArepasforDinner2 жыл бұрын
Uuuuuuh never experienced that! Sounds terrible will ask jan!!!
@paulselinger66582 жыл бұрын
@@ArepasforDinner I was told that this UHO comes in large boxes, kinda like cheap wine, and it's not uncommon in restaurants. This was at a pub near Andel, with Pilsner in a tank and not a bad spot at all. Bad service, though, I have stories...
@ArepasforDinner2 жыл бұрын
@@paulselinger6658 bad service is unfortunately so common but haven’t encounter bad food lucky
@Pidalin2 жыл бұрын
@@paulselinger6658 That's nonsense, UHO is something typical for school kitchens, and it's definitely not from some boxes, it may look the same, but it's sauce made for that specific food or directly made while cooking it. Imagination that you can buy some universal sauce in box is ridiculous.

Agree with personal safety, cheap public transport and proximity to other countries. Although if one of the best things about a country is that you can easily leave it, I'm not sure it really reflect well on the place! Personally I'm fairly neutral when it comes to the other points apart from the Czech food. The best I've ever heard it described was by a Brazilian friend who called it baby food due to the complete lack of flavour or texture. So bland that only a baby could eat it! Another guy from Britain described the Czech Republic as ""The Land that Spice Forgot". 😂 I know you like Czech food though so don't take it the wrong way but as someone who is used to eating food with very strong flavours and spices I don't think I'll ever get used to eating this bland mush.
@ArepasforDinner2 жыл бұрын
True czech food doesn’t use that many spices as others (no cumin specially) but the base is always very nice. They have great pork and beef and garlic and horseradish is always present. I find it delicious. Brazilians think avocado is a sweet fruit so they can’t talk about weird 😂😂💜💜

1) It is getting better, but still it has some problems. Actually we have tasty quisine. 2) Go to Slovakia. They have better sausages. We like our Asians and they can cook. 3) Cheap - yes. Good - not all of them. 4) We don't have big houses with garden and "friendly neighbours". We are just running out of every day routine. 5) Public transport works mostly fine. Renting a car is mostly not needed. Friend might be a way to move around with car. Never rent an electric car. We are not well equipped for it and those might not be well accepted by some of us. 6) Mostly. Just pick-pocketing and sometimes rapes. But you can find out quickly who the problematic groups are. 7) Yes, this works. Also people working in there are amazing. 8) Partially. Not as much as in the east. 9) Disagree for Prague. 10) I am missing something... 11) Nobody cares. 12) Getting back from my last vacation was 1h from Dresden to Prague and 1h getting through Prague to the "wrong side I live in". It was quicker to get from Helsinborg (Sweden) via Øresund to Copenhagen (Denmark), than getting Čakovice (Prague) to Chodov (Prague). 13) Unfortunately many bikers are just annoying. Please keep the rules on bikes and look around. We don't want to kill you. 14) Just about everywhere. And no, it is not illegal to take some fruit from a "public" tree. Even if it was, nobody cares. It comes from Austro-Hungarian times, where soldiers getting home from the 7-years military service had to eat something during that time. Unfortunately it is slowly changing, but we are still resisting. And we are growing vegies, because it is better than that sold in any shop. Also if you have friends who have a garden, they will give you a lot of fruit when the season comes. Many of us have "too much".
