What do you think... is the 300ZX a Hero or a Zero?
@stanfordkoch12717 ай бұрын
Hero, it looks more like a supercar then some supercars themself :-)
@ingar837 ай бұрын
@@stanfordkoch1271 It's such a more hero car than the supra and skyline. It's not problems. It's a 35 year old car. Things will break. I love my z32 so much. And the "hassle" wrenching on them is exaggerated over the top. I get that it's not a car for the 18 year old living at mom and dads wrenching it in the 30 degree sloped driveway. But as an adult I have my own house and a hoist. I use 2 hours from parking to get the engine out. It's not really bad at all after you've done it 2 times.

the Z32 is definitely the best looking car Nissan ever designed, it has an exotic look...

Got this video recommended and i’m glad i watched it. I think even in recent times, when people think about a fast 80’s and 90’s cars from Nissan, people think about the Skylines, not about the 300ZX. I would love to own an Z32 one day, but prices of these are already up to 30k here for nice ones. And then you still got the dubious maintenance history.

I recently started appreciating the Z32 after I kept seeing it in front of a Japanese market that I go to weekly. Honestly would choose it over the mk4 Supra in terms of appearance imo
@quattrocam11 ай бұрын
Agreed, the mk4 is beautiful but the Z32 is unique 👌

Absolutely. The supra looks grotesque in comparison.

I rode in a 240Z when they first came out. Seemed like a rocket ship. The 300ZX was great looking and a lot of fun

Ive never been much into cars beyond getting me from A to B. But my father recently passed and ive inherited his 1989 Z32. Seems to be in pretty good nick - could do with some new paint work., 40k kms on the odo and had 2 prior owners. As im not handly with car tools currently trying to find as much info as I can about them so I can keep it on the road for years to come. Nice video

My dream car. It came out when I was 14, in the summer of '89. Indeed it was very expensive for its time. I finally got two, a TT and NA, both SWB. The NA will get an LS swap and the TT will be restored as close to stock as possible.

Amazing! The LS swap sounds like it would be insane!!!

I think the Z for the most part has received a huge amount of unnecessary backlash in recent years. Quite simply they are very well built, reliable, sporty cars which have plenty of power from the factory. When people start messing around with their advanced electronics and installing cheap mods for quick power, it makes sense for them to give you grief. I'm sure it would give the exact same amount of issues as a mk4 Supra or a Skyline, however the Z will receive all the criticism due to it almost being a trend to hate on it because of a few people's bad experiences. (Not to mention a tight engine bay.) It's taken time but i think people are just now starting to appreciate them for what they are, and the important role they played during what could be considered the golden era of JDM cars. Without the Z, the a80 Supra wouldn't have been as good as it was, nor would its other competitors. Keep in mind the Z32 was in production since 1989, 4 years before the Supra and such! In short though, I think it's a car which very well has received alot of undeserved hate, and I guarantee if it was in some of the movies its competitors were in, it would most likely be seen in the same light as the other JDM icons, regardless of their problems.

Great review of an icon. What's your insight on the NA 300ZX, is it less of a challenge to maintain?
@quattrocam8 ай бұрын
Thank you, from what we know of the platform both NA and TT are hard work under the hood but a well maintained NA will last a lifetime, TT’s will need a lot of time and money above 100k, tricky cars to work on and maintain but worth it for such an outstanding piece of design 🚗💨
