Ya' know what, try looking up "300zx shows near me" because in any town you can find a nearby Z show, and about 2 or 300 people will show up, and there'll be anywhere from 20 to 100 240, 260, 280, 300, 350's and 370z cars there. You usually see the 260 least often. Only a couple 240's will show up, but mid 80's thru 2010's z cars gallore, at those kind of shows. Me, I want an Isuzu Piazza to restore. Or a Nissan Exa, with a turbo, red top, SR20 swap...

This is because a front mount intercooler do not fit under the OEM front facia. The body kits allowed more room in front to add the intercooler. You had to put a body kit on a Honda or Nissan to add HKS intercoolers. You haters have no experience, and are not wise. You lack knowledge. There is a reason for everything even body kits. What is stupid is widebody kits kids install today and fail to add wider wheels, they use spacers, snd do not add horsepower to use them big tires. So widebody kitz are POSER unless you got a turbo or supercharger to spin the wider tires. Did you notice the RX7 from Fast and Furious has a body kit with a front mount intercooler? Intercooler will not fit under the OEM front facia on the RX7. Haters are ignorant. You don't know the purpose of nothing.

very underrated car. It didn't take off in the JDM craze like the Supra, Skyline, or FD. I believe it was because it didn't make it on the fast and furious series. It also got aftermarket support very late compared to other Japanese sports cars at the time due it's difficulty to work on. It weights about the same as the Mk4 Supra. Its bone stock VG30 motor is known to hold power very well too. The fastest stock motor 300zx ran a high 8. Sad to see it not getting the attention it deserves. Some of them are still cheap and desperately need to be tastefully modded. Get one before they become impossible to find. Also an LS and 2JZ fit so well in its engine bay.

I love this car! So important - a JDM Icon that doesn't get the respect and recognition it deserves, and is so unappreciated, mostly due to people crying about the engine bay - such crybabies. The car forsed IMSA to change the rules because it was so dominant. It was forced to race in a different class, and still won! The car was sold in 1989, but the design was actually completed in 1986...yes, 1986! IMO, Nissan should've done one upgrade for the 1993 model year onward - they should've changed the injectors. Everyone talks about the MKIV Supra, and deservedly so (I love that car as well - another of my favorites), but in stock form, the only difference in producing HP and acceleration performance between the Z32 and the MKIV Supra was the injectors (MKIV came with 550 injectors and Z32 still used 370 injectors). If you tune both cars to 600-WHP, the mighty MKIV gets beaten...yes, I was surprised as well. But anyway, this car, the Z32, deserves so much more respect and recognition than it receives.

The Toyota Supra Twin Turbo and '94-'99 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 were faster stock both in numbers and in feel. However, imo the Z ran circles around both and was about as fast as the Mazda FD3 RX-7 but didn't feel like you were going to die in the twisties. Once modded, the Z32 becomes a whole different car. It also mods better than the Mitsubishi and looks timeless.

The Turbos on the TT are also prone to going out, and are generally near the age where they have or are going to soon. On a well kept model, they can last a shile longer but it's a generally good practice to have them checked out and replaced if need be. If you intend to swap it with a 2JZ, Kalvin Malli is a good success story, and even had his car shown off at SEMA this year. If you would like to LS swap, The Smoking Tire has a video on that, and the things that are kinda quirky with an LS 300zx. The engine bay is also notoriously compact, especially in the TT models, which can be a bit of a pain to work on. Having had to replace the belt myself, it's definitely not easy to get to some of the smaller spaces, though it's easier to work on the NA. That being said, these cars are getting more and more rare, and in my opinion are the best looking of the Post-Datsun Z series. That Racing Channel also has a few videos on the 300zx like Devil-Z that are great to watch if you're more interested in drag racing.

I have one. It's a 2+2 NA. I love this car. Most fun car I've ever owned. Responds so well to upgrades, and handling. I can whip this car anyway I want it. Also, the TT models. Exhaust Intake and a basic tune will get you 350-400WHP. Pretty quick for a mostly stock car

I had a z32 for my first car I loved it, felt real comfortable, handling was good and it just looked so good. Working on it kind sucked cause it was so tight in the engine bay.

As one that owns a 300 it’s safe to say, if u do buy one u will have a love hate relationship with it. Ther erlier version from 90-93 is the one u want but because it’s over 25 years old, u feel it. With the engine being mostly made up of rubber vacuum lines, it’s incredibly hard to work on one thing. You end up taking off a lot of stuff just to get to one thing. On top of having no space in the bay makes it even worse. And if u want to get your z fixed because u don’t have the time to do it, well good luck because it just became a yard or ornament. No shop will work on these, not even Nissan then selfs will. If a shop willing takes this car then that means u need to take it back because they didn’t know what they got into. Expect to do most of your own work on these. The vg30 it self is incredibly finicky, it will have issues over little thing. If your ground is lose you could be looking at a miss fire, if u have a slight vacuum leak, u could be looking at many things including a bad idle. If a sensor goes wrong ( their are many in this car to go wrong) then your car could miss fire or run extremely rough. These engines will run with lots of problems but to get them to run properly Is the challenge. Oh and you'll seem to always have a vacuum leak. Now after saying all this, I can still recommend this car. It’s amazing how much I have learn off this car and how much you can learn. It’s a fun car and such a beauty. It’s truly a great car but not for a first car, don’t make the mistake I did. The car is great just expensive to maintain. Over all it’s an amazing car that I recommend anyone to get as long as they are willing to do their own work and want a fun project car.

It’s worth it to get on in good condition. There’s a grey area when it comes to less expensive high mileage ones that you won’t need to worry about. Make sure to keep up with seals and general maintenance. Turbos should be rebuilt at around 90k
@christophercampbell81644 жыл бұрын
@@HunterZ32 so what is the optimal mileage and how many miles are too many???
@brownie78854 жыл бұрын
I'm not super worried about the mileage. Making sure the 120k stuff is done and compression is good is mostly what I care about. I'm guessing between 5 to 8k if I buy domestic. I've been looking at importing a 2+2 tt also which would probably be around 13k. Havent decided if I want to have my kids in the car or just me and the wife lol

I will say my 300ZX is probably one of my favorite cars hands down. The HICAS system is phenomenal when you’re cruising on highways as you can feel the difference in handling when the rear tires turn even though it’s only 1-3 degrees. If I’m just cruising I average 30-36 mpg, and in Wyoming that’s really damn good! If I decide to step on it and let the turbos do their thing that’s a completely different story 🤔

It does eat up alot of gas I get maybe 12 mpg but it is my everyday driver during the summer so during the winter it's a garage princess I'm from Michigan and it does not do well in the snow and ice. I had to buy a old Chevy pickup for the winter and that gets better gas mileage than the 300 surprisingly.

Main issue with drifting is oil starvation. Unfortunately, the baffles in the oil pan don't keep the oil under control when drifting. However, there are definitely options and it can handle some stress before you run into problems. Go for the 2+2 if you want to drift, their longer chassis is less prone to kicking out the rear end too fast. My dream car and I'm proud to say I have one!

Toe Salad063 I don’t drift mine a lot but I have before. I have a 2+2 that’s all original and it’s very heavy. I have Megan racing springs on eibach shocks and struts but I’m sure your friends coilovers contribute to how easy it is if they’re very stiff

my early 90's 300zx twin turbo was probably the best car i will ever have had. true two-seater, full leather interior, stick-shift everyday sports car that didn't have to be treated like a baby. perfectly reliable, and the best part? the removable t-tops... no question. without doubt the best of both the coupe and the convertible worlds. solid, quiet, structurally sound and waterproof as a coupe and provided an open-air driving experience as good or better than a convertible. only one fault. after two hard decelerations the front rotors warped.
