The video forgot to take into account that he's actually being told by the Spur's coaching staff to shoot that many threes. There's a number of post game interviews saying that it's the coaching staff. I don't know what their vision is but its obvious they want him to improve his three point shot, since no one can actually guard him on the perimeter. Give it time. He'll balance it out.

That's backwards. It'll be harder to get a low post game later on. Probably because of his size.
@emperor_23897
@emperor_23897 2 ай бұрын
@@trips963Yeah, it's backwards to me too but that's the coaching staff's logic. To me, he's still young so he's got time, look at Chet. He's out because he's been playing alot in the post. Edey isn't injured yet but that's because he's older and his body is more mature and he's definitely trained to play like your traditional center. Wemby was trained to play like a guard ever since he was a kid and he never deviated from that unlike AD who went from playing like a guard to playing a Centre. It's weird to me but Wemby is already a weird player. All i want from Wemby is that he learns an easy go to move like a hookshot or a bank shot so he won't need to force himself to chuck threes. He can probably pull off the Skyhook too if he actively tries to learn it. In terms of post play, he's actually got good footwork but he's so light that he gets pushed out of the paint by bigger centres or forwards that know how to use Wemby's centre of gravity to their advantage. The fast solution for his post problems is that he gains weight, but if he gains weight, he risks getting injured more frequently due to the weight thats putting more stress on his body, it would also mean that he won't be as agile or flexible so he won't be able to do any of the freakish stuff he's known to do. He'll end up just being your typical tall centre. There's not an easy or fast solution for Wemby really. He just needs to stay the course. He also needs to get some post lessons with Hakeem. Hakeem will be perfect because Hakeem uses his finesse and his footwork to dominate the paint. Something Wemby can emulate a bit easier compared to doing drop steps and pushing out players to get a better look at the post. Sorry for the long paragraphs lmao.

This season and last, Wemby’s shooting has lead to many of the Spurs wins especially in comebacks. People will always complain about it, but you can’t just judge based off of stats. If you watch the games, you can see how big of an impact Wemby making his 3s has on swinging the momentum of games. Funny enough, the season when Giannis actually had the courage to shoot more 3s and make more free throws, was when they won a championship. Because it makes him a more versatile player, and forces the other team to guard him at the perimeter, so his drives are even more lethal. It’s the same logic in football, of getting teams to respect the run, so it makes it easier to pass. If you force teams to respect you from 3, then it makes it easier to score in the paint.
@guiseppejacobs2357
@guiseppejacobs2357 2 ай бұрын
What he's saying is Wemby needs to find the balance and not take so many 3s. Giannis was never a good shooter, the year they won the chip he was an awful shooter in the playoffs but they won because he dominated inside 10 feet like he was supposed to along with them just being a better team overall. It had very little to do with his shooting. Wemby is 7'4 and yes although he's already better shooter than giannis ever was, he still needs to work on his inside game and make that a priority. He's always going to be respectable from 3.

As a Spurs fan, we might not see a change in Wemby’s 3 pt volume because we aren’t a good shooting team to begin with. I’d like to see him play inside out more than anyone but teams crowd the paint currently because we can’t consistently make 3s if he were to kick it out, so I think he just says f it and takes it upon himself. I do think he needs to take his shots closer to the 3 pt line though as no one is blocking the shot. No need to rush.
@emperor_23897
@emperor_23897 2 ай бұрын
He actually struggles to shoot 3s near the line in most of his games Most his threes come from way behind the line. It kind of makes sense since he's taller which generally means his shooting arc is going to be higher than your regular NBA player. As an oversized guard essentially. The closer he is to the line, for him, he's essentially shooting a mid range shot which alot of modern NBA players tend to struggle.

Yeah, they clealry want him to be as healthy as possible. Going inside will just risk injury since he's centre of gravity isn't quite balanced enough to do any physical play on the paint and I dont think he'll ever be as solid or sturdy as Giannis is. I feel he's got that kind of frame where he won't ever fill it out, similar to KD. The coaching staff clearly want him to improve his three point shooting too as it benefits the whole team since alot of his teammates can't shoot as well. People forget its a team game.

I agree with everything you said expect for Wemby shooting 3's. I think it's too early to be critical of that because he's still in his second year, he's still experimenting on what is and isn't best for him in the NBA. And I think that's one of the advantages of playing with Chris Paul, as he could be driving to the rim only to pass to Wemby at the top of the key to make a 3. I mean, Dirk was 7'1 and he took 3's, so Wemby experimenting with attempting 3's consistently at 7'4 could be a big help in a future situation.

Yeah I notice that Klay and Kyrie don't have much chemistry specially on that miami game. I don't know why but Kyrie sometimes does not pass the ball to Klay and force a contested mid range shot, which he makes most of the times but you can see that Klay is open beside him maybe its just Kyrie not being tall enough having the height and vision of someone like Luka. And I don't get those that says Klay should be benched and make Grimes the starter since he is playing well, I mean Klay is someone who can be easily affected by his emotions and benching him will hurt more than making him a starter and pairing him with guys like Luka and Lively who feeds him the ball and set screens for him plus they also have great halfcourt basketball style with slower pace. And if they want Klay to be at his best and contribute specially come playoffs they have to boost his morale by making more plays for him and letting him play a bit during garbage time to let him get on the groove because if they get Klay at his best come playoff time they will be hard to beat.

Wemby shoots 33%. Thats 1/3. Assuming possession ends on miss thats 2 empty possessions. Due to his size, every possession he has a guaranteed 2 pts. Which means for every 3 points he gets via 3, hes leaving 1 potential point on the table by shooting 3s & not getting the unstoppable pts he can get at the rim. 3 possessions = 1/3(3pts) When it could be 3/3(6pts). Great video man but 1 point 1.The timberwolves are in NO danger of losing Antony edwards. (Coming from a bucks fan) As I think they are going to take this year to re-tool as they probably will either trade Randle at the deadline or not re-sign him in free agency, so they can bring in 2 good/1 elite role player with his salary. Also Donte will pan out it just might not be this year, Ant's offence is also a sign for them having a Devolpmental year as the volume of 3s he's shooting is absurd, but I think this is mainly down to Randle being a non-spacer so ant is shooting the fuck out of the 3 and not being able to get to the rim as much because of minnesota's shitty spacing. When Randle moves on and minnesota don't have 4 non-spacers around ant nearly always (I love u Rob) I think his game will be amplified with him being able to shoot 9 3s on like 40% constantly and getting to the rim when he wants that's when ant is going to take that MVP leap

@dolby8334

Very casual take and just plain wrong. The Suns missed the playoffs the year before CP3 went there, despite being the only undefeated team in the play in. In other words, they got screwed out of the playoffs, maybe you don't remember? They were in a build for a few years and finally had a team built up of young great talent. Ayton, Bridges, Booker, Oubre, and Payne were all solid, as well as a few other good players. They were just young and finally adjusted to the NBA and the system Monty Williams had going (as well as being in the toughest conference). CP3 joined a good team with talent around him. In that Finals run, every game CP3 missed in the playoffs the Suns won without him. They were a solid team, even without CP3. CP3 didn't have MVP numbers that year, and they were even lower than his career averages. The next few following years, the Suns got rid of nearly all the young guys they had built up and got old superstars past their prime with huge contracts. CP3 pretty much ended all these young players careers, and the Suns sold their future out. CP3 went to a good team and stole all the glory because of the media and casual fans pretending he went there and turned the whole team around, when that isn't what happened. This narrative CP3 goes to teams and they just get better is false.. When he went to the Rockets, they had just been to the WCF finals, had Capella in his prime, and James Harden in his prime/Scoring Champ/MVP, they also had a solid team around him. When CP3 was on the Clippers, he had prime Griffin and Jordan and a great supporting cast. Before CP3 went to the Rockets, he never made it out the 2nd round. He didn't make it out the 2nd round until he was 32 years old. He went to his 1st Finals at 35. His stint on the GSW was horrible. Him on SAS right now, has Wemby looking like he's gotten worse. Chris Paul has played with more talent than any All Time Great PG, and way more teams as well. The Suns lost their identity when CP3 joined the team, and completely got rid of the young team that they spent a few years building up. Their identity shamelessly became "a team that can't make the playoffs unless carried by a 35+ year old PG). Again, the year he joined.. they won every single game CP3 didn't play in the playoffs. They did not suck without him by any metric. Look at how they did the following year after the Finals run.. They lost in the 2nd round to Dallas, despite Booker and Ayton carrying them to 7 games(and playing great) because CP3 was constantly getting beat by his man and couldn't preform. His last year at Phoenix they lost in the 2nd round again to the Nuggets. In that series Durant and Booker were both dropping 30 pts a game.. CP3 was again the weak link and was constantly getting beat and couldn't preform and had abysmal numbers in that series (yes he was 37, but that is an excuse people use when his narrative of being this all time great PG falls apart). They tore apart Ayton and blamed him for the loss... who mind you, was guarding the best player in the league. Same as the Rockets. Same as the Clippers. Teams where CP3 is arguably the best player don't get out the 2nd round. And it's not because he doesn't have talent around him, it's because he is the most overrated player in any sport all time and unreliable because of his injuries.

@@dolby8334when CP3 joined the rockets, they were eliminated in 2017 in the second round by the Spurs. They didn’t make the WCF. 2) Nobody had the Suns going to finals in 2021. To say he joined this stacked Suns squad in 2021 is insane. 3) it’s subjective, but I don’t get Wemby got worse when CP3 joined the team. wemby taking more 3’s isn’t CP3’s fault. There’s another comment on this video talking about how the Spurs want We,by to shoot more 3’s.

Also how we got vando being a bench warmer and jus watching us fall below 500 we had a good record coming into the season but now as the season is coming to the best teams we are not one of them we need to see improvements both spacing and defense because it seems to me like Anthony Davis has been a key reason why we are still in contention and it’s sad to watch as a Laker fan and the history and culture the legends of the past has brought to that team

For those who don't follow the Spurs and are confused by Wemby's 3pt attempts... The coaching staff is telling him to shoot those 3s. This is the thing he's developing this year. He can't be a Giannis or a Jokic right now because he's not strong enough. That too is kinda by design. He is getting stronger slowly so that his body doesn't break down from a sudden weight gain. So until he gets stronger, hone the perimeter game. When he gets stronger in a year or two, hone the inside game. Let the kid figure out his powers lol
