The relatability they once had was because they were not rich private school girls. They may have seemed wealthy to people in middle America watching their reality show, but by LA standards the Kardashian-Jenner clan was Upper middle class at best. If you rewatch season one of KUWTK, they all lived in a one story ranch style home in Calabasas with 12 children coming in and out. Imagine one income being split between that many kids…. That’s not wealth. Back in the day, it was NOT a flex to say you lived in Calabasas. No one in LA would dare live in the valley. It was an average middle to upper middle class suburban community before the Kardashians gained relevance and celebrities started moving out there to get away from the paps in LA county. Kris had some affluence and money when she was married to Rob Kardashian, but they split in the early 90s when the kids were young. This was before the infamous OJ Simpson trial that Rob is most known for. Rob may have been successful as a lawyer, but he was not as well off or affluent as some of the families the Kardashian kids hung out with, like the Hiltons or the Richies. Even the name Kardashian was mocked and racially profiled by the elitist LA circles the Kardashians (especially Kim) wanted to mingle within. Not to mention, Rob didn’t leave anything to his children. The only thing Rob financed was the kids’ education and always told them to work for themselves instead of handing them money. He only left money for a college fund, but because Kourtney was the only one who finished college and had graduated prior to Rob’s death, none of the other children received a dime from his will. It was all left to Rob’s second wife. Their greed really stems from feeling cheated out of their inheritance. When Kris married Caitlyn (then Bruce) she didn’t have any money. Kris single handedly resurrected her career to bring her out of obscurity and bring home the bacon for their 12 children. Kris then conspired to do a similar thing with her own children, even to the point of pimping out her own daughter Kim by mimicking the exact same tragedy that happened to her childhood friend Paris Hilton for clout. It worked and their empire is built off of that sexual exploitation of her own daughter and Ray J. The point here is that it was their desperation to be perceived as upper class LA girls that motivated them to do their shady business deals and dehumanizing publicity stunts. Please understand: no one who is born wealthy would feel the need to do any of this. The Kardashian-Jenners do what they do because they are aspiring to the older wealthy class just like the people watching them. The difference is the new generation doesn’t want wealth if it means exploiting other people and harming the environment. They don’t know how to stop chasing the bag because they’ve bitten off more than they can chew. They have to keep doing this so they can keep up their expensive lifestyles which is also apart of their brand and the way they generate income. As someone who was raised upper middle class and has hung out with wealthy kids my entire life, wealthy people don’t flaunt their wealth because if you knew how wealthy they really were, you would try to exploit them. The Kardashians exploit themselves for wealth. That’s the most obvious calling card that they’re exaggerating their finances ever. Sad and pathetic.

This is very well said and true for the most part, however, the 12 kids running in and out of the Calabasas ranch is a little exaggerated, Brody, Bruce’s son was famous before any of the Kardashians on the show The Hills or Laguna Beach or both🤷🏼‍♀️ and I can almost guarantee he did not live in the ranch, also his older brother Brandon didn’t live their either, matter fact they barely saw Bruce, his other children didn’t see him much either, Kim had her own apartment and I believe so did Kourtney, Kim had already been married and divorced by the time the show aired, I’m not sure if Khloe and Rob lived in that ranch, as adults I’m guessing not, the only ones I believe lived there and who we saw bedrooms for were Kendall and Kylie, Bruce and Kris. Also Robert Kardashians was a retired attorney by the time the OJ trial came about he reinstated his license to practice as one for the trial however he didn’t contribute much, any clout Kris had came from Bruce the Olympic Star, not Robert, Robert’s name was in the headlines because of the trial but obviously that wasn’t necessarily good… I am not opposing just clearing a few things up I totally agree with you on the context of your comment, I was hoping you would’ve elaborated a little more on how they were not wealthy LA girls but most ppl didn’t see that from day 1, I did, they had many of the same clothes as I did, especially their several Coogi outfits, and the way they flaunted gaudy metallic LV bags was laughable.

I would say that most, if not all, billionaires make their money in shady and unethical ways. The difference is, most don't post about it on social media. If the Kardashians were smart, they would've taken their billions and invested it into actual stocks or businesses that could yield them even more money without doing any work. I worked in manufacturering Private Label Cosmetics. We mostly did all the hotel Spas in Vegas and across the country. We designed labels for their products too. Yes you can choose your own formula in way of samples but it’s EASY if you have the customers. I have to laugh the ONLY reason Kylie sold those lip kits so fast was her Target Market. All her followers at the time were under 18. There mommy and daddy purchased them. And reordered because the kids in school all had them. Now look at Kim her cosmetics didn’t do as good became her following are older hard working woman who don’t have mommy and daddy getting them. Regarding relatability. I watched the Charli D'Amelio "documentary". It was really fascianting to see how this industry is exploiting such a young girl. All the manager around her trying to push her to do as many product sponsorings as possible etc. And parents being in conflict between getting filthy rich or protecting their child. Guess what path they choose to go. When I look at Britney Spears etc. this story just repeats itself. The relatability is just another story to sell. Bread and circuses. This game has been played for centuries.

I really felt imagine all the extra time you'd have to do things if you had someone cleaning your house, cooking your food, picking up your groceries/medications, picking up your children. Taking care of your lawn. The leverage isn't fair because us normal people spend all our time doing these things and we are exhausted.

Out of curiosity I took a look at Khloe’s brand Good American and I couldn’t believe her jeans cost almost $200!!! I was amazed!! I thought, “who is she making these for?” Probably made for $25 in slave trade China and that’s the mark up!!
