I really enjoyed watching your videos when I first got into smart homes with Google Home. I’ve since moved on to HomeKit for all of my smart home needs. Really appreciate the detailed review, Brett. Mine's coming tomorrow and I'm very much looking forward to setting it up. Making a Homekit-only cam is an interesting idea. Yes, it does lock you into Apple's ecosystem. But then again, usually whatever is supposed to work just works, much like Eve's gadgets. Really like the privacy approach behind the whole idea.

I see the wire on the back of the camera does not come out, but I want to mount on the wall beside the garage door. I planned to drill a small hole through so I can access electric power inside the garage. In this situation the hole will have to be large enough for the usb plug tip to pass through. That’ll be too big !

Yep, I have no idea where they clone engineers these days, but using a USB-A plug on the other end of a non-removable cable that is supposed to go through walls in most cases is such a bone-headed decision. They could at least have chosen USB-C for the smaller form factor. Smh.

Does the iCloud motion recording include the moments before the motion? Or only once it has detected the motion? I know it is not continuous recording (sadly). But had Arlo cameras and by the time it was recording, the object was nearly out of frame.

Brett - All cameras that are HomeKit enabled have all of the options that you showed for the Circle View camera. That is not unique to Logitech Circle View. That is a requirement by Apple that all of these work this particular way. This is great in that if you use different cameras from different manufacturers and they are enabled for HomeKit, they will all work the same way. The only difference will be if they have additional sensors that are exposed to HomeKit. Now some cameras like this one do have intelligent motion detection where they can differentiate between people, vehicles, and animals. Not all HomeKit enabled cameras can and that part will be unique to the camera manufacturer and will be exposed to the user if the camera is capable of doing that. And yes, I would appreciate more reviews on HomeKit items.

on the box you clearly see the camera mounted against a wall, but when you open the box the cable is already attached and with an USB mount. Is there anyway to detach the cable get it trough the wall and reattach? or do you need a really big hole to get the USB trough. ?

Great review. I purchased 3. The audio basically does not work though. The subject basically can't hear me though I can get some very low small muffling feedback when I speak. It is inconsistent the I can hear the subject. Basically, the audio is currently completing, well...crap. I'm hoping it is user-error but I have read online that Logitech says it is a HomeKit (e.g., apple issue). Have you or any readers run into this, and are there any suggestions for fixing? Hi quick question I had had camera for 1,5 years with little to no issue. For a couple of months now it keeps going offline after 6 -12 hours if I set it to stream and record in HomeKit. If I set it to only stream it stays online for days but goes offline again. Have you encountered this and if so any idea on how to fix?

I picked up 2 Circle View cameras to replace Nest Google Cams. Unfortunately, the Logitech did not perform well compared to Google in one key area - image brightness. Set-up outdoor side by side and buy the Logitech is DARK compared to Google. I really wanted to like the Logitech and get more invested in HKSV. Surprisingly, the Logitech doorbell is nice and bright compared to the Nest Doorbell.

Had problems with this camera. When I received notifications in away mode and in Off mode no sound accompanied the notification so therefore if I was away from home I would be unaware motion was detected until I checked my phone. Also I placed the camera in a locked room at night with detect people only on but the camera sent multiple detection messages to my phone approx every minute and when I checked the recording I could see a dot flash across the screen which triggered the alert but it certainly was not a person

The feed can be viewed on the Home app on Macs and tablets. Apple doesn't have a smart display.

Brett what is your recommendation for a outdoor wireless cameras... I've tried Arlo 2 and the Eufy Pro 2k camera... was disappointed with both camera's... I found they missed people walking along sidewalk more than I feel secure with... only thing I can figure out is wirelees being a wifi connection not as stable as wired connection... thanks for your help

Have one of these installed. Don't be fooled - the video quality is awful. Mine is mounted externally. WiFi bitrate is in excess on 300 Mbps and broadband is high-speed fibre. Even in bright sunlight the video is pixelated. It is almost impossible to make out faces and absolutely impossible to read number-plates even close up. It is a good thorough review but it would be nice to have some detail of your broadband and wireless setup. I can certainly get much better quality video from my iPhone XR set at 1080P so maybe this is a problem with Apple Secure Video.
