I've been waiting all year to check this out and it was worth the wait! What you prefer to have this dedicated digital frame, or a TV that turns into a digital frame?

man they did a really shitty job at hiding that ambient light sensor i am not even a fan of adaptive brightness either , the google home 7" smart display has a less noticeable sensor the least they could have done is make the light sensors and the motion sensors not at all visible for that kind of money it should look like a real framed photo with a nice matte not like a cheap Chinese tablet still waiting on Google to release photos app for android TV for the money this thing costs i would just put it toward a Samsung frame TV instead but what i would really like to see is an electronic ink frame of this size ,there have been amazing breakthroughs in color e ink displays as of late ,better to wait for something like that instead , also low power consumption of e ink displays means you could have it run on a battery and have it last for years between charges so you could hang it wherever you want and have to worry about being near a plug

I love looking at your videos man. I appreciate you going over the tech that I actually have and like as well (Google) You did make one comment about electrical wires in the wall and you are correct. The only thing is that the electrical that cannot go behind the wall is line voltage (120v) in a plug style. What you have is low voltage, that is okay to go into a wall. I work as an electrician, so that is the only reason I am bringing this up. Otherwise, this makes me want to strongly consider getting this frame, because we have so many digital pics that I would prefer to show other than just static ones.. Thanks again.

Great review as usual Brett! Looks like a quality piece of tech but $300 seems a little steep given it's limited functionality at the time of making this. If they make some more useful channels and make this like quick smart home view and security cameras that would be awesome! Now if it can just have a motor to automatically swivel depending on whether it is landscape or portrait. Or, or, wait a minute, how about a big square frame to accommodate both landscape and portrait or any format even - panoramic, round, videos, etc. And that white mat would also be digital so it automatically changes shape depending on the format. And when the doorbell rings, you can see who it is. I know, asking too much, but, get the idea?
@cameranmanner47013 жыл бұрын
that sounds insanely complicate. I would just buy 2 frames. portrait and landscape. Then have photos upload to which orientation suits best. The other option is to have a zoom fill feature so there are no black bars visible when picture is displayed.

Hi Brett... I am in a bit of a trouble. I moved homes and now the smartframe wont connect to the new wifi network. I am reading that pressing the star and the minus sign together resets the frame but it is not doing it. Do you have any suggestions?
@TechWithBrett3 жыл бұрын
Is your new wifi the same name as the old one? That will allow everything to connect again if it is. If not, I did have this issue once. If you hold down on the star and volume down for 5 seconds it should factory reset and then you can set it up again and connect it to wifi.
@kingrajiv13 жыл бұрын
@@TechWithBrett - Hi Brett... Thanks for the quick response. The new network has a different name and pressing down the star and volume down key for 5 seconds or longer is doing nothing. The smartframe powers itself down after giving the message network not detected or something like that

Maybe you can explain why a 21.5" photo frame costs as much as a 32" FHD smart TV. EDIT: 7:12 that can't be right, I hope! You can't use this frame without going through Google Photos? No, I don't accept that deal breaker (as if the price wasn't already a deal breaker). I personally avoid Google products like the plague. The thing MUST have USB flash drive capability. That's insane. Garbage. The necessity to use a smartphone for full functionality is another deal breaker. That's three deal breakers for a single product. Your review is excellent. It really shows how absurd this device is, beginning with the price. But, exorbitant pricing for large photo frames is the norm.
@veryboringname.2 жыл бұрын
You are in the minority. Few people will bother with a photo frame that requires you to update the photos manually with a usb drive. Those photo frames came out over 15 years ago and failed because they were a hassle. Nowadays people take photos on their phones and back them up to the cloud, so smart photo frames and displays make a lot of sense. You're totally within your rights to avoid Google products, just bear in mind that there's a huge world out there filled with people who are not like you and appreciate the convenience of Google Photos. That is who this product is for.

Pretty sure you could run the low voltage blue plastic conduit (smurf tube) in the wall and run the wire through that. Then simply use a brush plate at the bottom and have it plug in below. I believe as long as the wire is in conduit it is according to code.
