To be honest, there were ppl whining because of mounts. It would have had it's purpose back in the day when azoth/weight was a thing. When combined storage wasn't existing. That time, it would have been useful. Now? It has no use at all. It would save like 5 secs now. All these because people found the game too hard back in the day and even at that time I thought it was too fast and easy. It's interesting how mmo players changed over time. In the 2000s, you level up for months, now if it takes more than a day to hit max level, people say it's too hard because they don't wanna spend too much time until they get to the end. lol. AND these are facts.

The amount of people complaining about the gear system and how "hard" it is to find bis and they can't do end game content because they only play 20 minutes a week and should have the same gear as the hardcore grinders is wild.

I agree that people liked to complain, but I also think that mounts still have purposes in NW. Especially when it comes to open world PvP, I could see them be very involved in the new territory influence pushes.

@@DukeSloth As someone with a lot of experience with Albion Online I can guarantee the mounts will be of no use in influence pushes less getting you from point A to point B. Even then the (1) hit mechanic breaks that. For now mounts will be basically cosmetic. If open world PvP really pops off (fingers crossed) then they might actually revisit / create some skills for the mounts which would then impact open world pvp in some way. Even if it’s one ability per type of mount then we would really see some diversity and usefulness.

i agree i was playin and mmorpg and when ppl see over 70 level ppl we were all amaze man and armors are so special ppl can't even imagine to get it sometime soon. but maybe. and hope grows inside while playing. and you dreaming with other player and chatting about it thats whats they should have. Nowdays mmorpg games are soo easy if you want an item you get it max 2-3 days. after that ppl complain about "there is no content" i wonder whyy 😅

in regards to the Charm for Mount encumbrance, this is similar to something from Albion online that was really important, Players used the high encumbrance mount option for material farming and for merchant trading, i can say with certainty that if AGS brought back the town locked Trading posts like they had in the playtests, the charm would become 10x more valuable, the ability to take a huge amount of Fiber collected from Windsward and using a mount to take it to a low fiber region would make trading materials more valuable and Viable for actual trading individuals. instead of many people farming for certain high value things, straining the market for the more sought after commodities like mid tier materials to refine for their cooldowns. Bottom line, the Mount charm would be useful to dedicated material farmers because the time itll likely take to dismount, gather, remount and move to the next material will probably be faster than just gathering the material and running to the next material, especially if AGS made a charm that increases mount/dismount speeds.

They've already confirmed that there will be mount skins, I'm sure some of them will be shop purchases. Doubt they'll want to do an entire own token system for that, but also wouldn't mind it.

What they can do for mounts in wars is limit the mounts and have them be war specific mounts that can spawn in an area making it first come first serve but this will require an expansiont to how wars are performed.

yes just yes, yes mounts need definitely to be flipping in wars for sure. and add mounts for limit mounts to only have equal amounts on boths ides and max is lesser amount so if one side has 50 players with all mounts able and other side is 50 players none bought dlc xd then 0 mounts is chosen as the limit and no one gets to use mounts!@@iAnt414

Whatever they do i hope the mounts are fun to drive around. Guild wars 2 or even wildstar had amazing mounts because they had momentum behind them, literally mounting up and running around was fun in itself. If mount is just a boost to movement speed then whew, talk about a missed opportunity

maybe its just because they haven't shown anything much but the mounts look kinda stiff, slow, or unsatisfying to ride. Its hard to put into words but theres a world of difference when compared to something like guild wars 2. kind of disappointing but I'll give it a shot anyway. if it doesnt look horrible but it doesnt look amazing either, looks just alright

I'm a returning player and mounts and the other updates are a cool addition. What gets me (and has since launch) is that a game that features Pirates and other water fairing folk doesn't have swimming. I would have thought they might have addressed that by now. Yes swimming in heavy armour isnt a thing, but light armour and such the player should be able to swim. I think it could add a lot to have underwater enemies and resources, sunken treasure, etc. Would be really cool. Anyone know if they are working on fixing that?

alot people say about swimming, but... the game was made about being stuck on a island, if you can swim you swim off it... also they diddnt want players to swim at the start to avoid pvp, that way if u pass players easier in open world if you can swim you dodge everyone

Swimming will never be a thing in the game. Its part of the lore You are washed up on the island and infected with a curse that prevents you from swimming off the island.

All the people that say swimming is not possible because of the lore are the same people that said, mounts will not be added because of the lore: "Please remember that there are NO beasts of burden on Aeternum. No horse or donkey will pull your cart, carry your pack, or tolerate a rider." and now they added mounts. So swimming will be possible too in the future since many people request it and AGS goes with numbers. New World wanted to be a pvp survival game but since more people requested it to be a pve themepark mmo, they just went with that.

just make it like paladins. mount can be used only before taking damage in war. make them permanently gone and came back after you got respawn. just make it you can go back to war zone faster. we're playing war simulation, not WALKING TO WAR JUST TO DIE SIMULATION

Too little too late. I played this game for months and spent most of my time hoping they would add mounts so I could stop playing walking simulator. After a year, I gave up on the idea. Mounts should have been in the game since release. Now they release them 2 years later when everyone has completed the game or got tired of playing it... Classic 2023 gaming problem.
