Oh, if you people only knew how your world truly works. This planet is a Jew World Order now and all the politics are a scripted hoax. In real life Air Force One is just a regular plane that is used as a prop for theatrics before the goyim by the puppet president you falsely believe you voted for. You are all living in a zoo habitat and movies like this are propaganda to reinforce the illusion you are presented. Keep staying under this illusion. 25 years old and this is still one of my childhood favorites of the action genre thanks to my late father! I remember watching this lots at night at my camp in the Adirondacks This was the 4th highest grossing movie of 1997 making $172 million domestically and $315 globally This is still one of Harrison Ford's best roles being not only as commander in chief but as a father and husband and a fighter not abandoning his crew taking out the enemy Gary Oldman is top notch as the villain invoking Soviet insurgence as an excuse for Cold War tensions; still it’s a portrayal that looks more believable with the benefit of hindsight, especially regarding the end of the decade and more recent events He sees freedom as an infection given how his country has been overrun by crime, death, and prostitution Kroshunov sees Marshall as a coward playing god killing without a second thought I kept forgetting who Glenn Close was playing first time I watched; she's good as Madame Vice President stuck in a corner about how to assess this situation although the conference room scenes do tend to stagnate Marshall's wife and daughter I like very much too, Mary truly stands by her husband's stance not letting the enemy dictate hostile negotiations and Alice being only 12 feels she's ready to take on more responsibility rather than just watch the news about her dad's job running the country The movie is like die hard on a plane but with exciting action, amazing sound editing, amazing music by Jerry Goldsmith, and top-notch tension seeing one man try to foil the bad guys from the ground up Funny because it inspired a slew of action movie imitators over the years with 'Speed' being the most propulsive Although at that point filmmakers were running out of fresh ideas of being stuck in confined environments at high speeds This script shies away from character development, although it's clear President Marshall's politics are going to be challenged in a very personal hostage situation It helps he has actual war experience in Vietnam inserted into his political actions Atrocity and terror are not political weapons, real peace is not just the absence of conflict, our own political self interest shouldn't deter us from our duties This came out with an already scandal-prone Clinton presidency and the optimism from the fall of the Soviet Union slowly dulling, that sounded like a very attractive proposition It's always risky speaking out against terrorism on film or in real-life The movie represents both the pinnacle of the action-disaster movies and a leave-taking Its great location is also its biggest liability Director Wolfgang Peterson manages to craft a brilliant summer blockbuster that never lets up until the very end You'll be biting your nails in suspense, cheering, and applauding by the time the credits roll Peterson and Ford deliver a tension-fueled actioneer if not fully plausible one with a delicious villain and sharp politics

@@FJoeB1998 yeah. I bet in 1997 they had CG so good that your brains would blow up
@buchiklop1104 жыл бұрын
@@FJoeB1998 It wasn't quite MMPR Movie bad, but it wasn't anywhere near, say, Independence Day or Men in Black. The dogfight beforehand is pretty good, it's just the plane crashing into the ocean that is horrible.
@talandelana68734 жыл бұрын
I saw this in theaters as a teen. When the plane crashed, I remember thinking: man, that looks awful.
@BennyLlama394 жыл бұрын
My problem isn't the CG per se, but the plane's crash physics as it noses down and flips over. I always thought the initial crash was at least plausible.

I feel like there's a sin about how the scene depicted at approximately 1:01 somehow inspires the lighting in the banquet hall at Hogwarts that also got away... lol.

Well, it was out of fuel (and according to Andrew Marlowe, the film was out of CGI money), so there was nothing for it to do but bounce.

Uninspiring titles are always annoying - but at least it’s still better than movies simply called ‘The (insert creature, item etc here)’, like they didn’t even bother trying to come up with a title that could sound interesting.
