The whole point of the no Russian mission was to create war between USA and Russia. Shepherd and macarov were working together (replay the scrapyard mission and listen to price and macarov’s conversation). And shepherd chose pvt allen because he was a rookie private who was expendable. Shepherd basically wanted a war so he could rise up as the victorious war hero that saved the country after he was basically destroyed and humiliated when 30,000 of his men died from the nuclear launch in cod 4. You’re missing the entire point of the whole campaign and giving it sins.

Raging 12 year olds, that shout in their microphones (not an issue from the game itself, but Activision is baiting those fuckers to ruin the game for everyone else) 4. Killstreaks (They were already stupid since their very first introduction in MW1) 5. Way too overpowered Killstreaks 6. Idiots that ruin public SnD matches just for some fucking wannabe fancy killcams and then scream the shit out of the voice chat (See 3.) 7. No dedicated servers 8. No modding support 9. People get banned for joining lobbies, hosted by a cheater 10. Infested with cheater 11. No fucking FoV slider I could do this all day and still wouldn´t be finished. I do like MW2, but only the singleplayer and the coop. The multiplayer was just one mess of toxic cancer and led the way to kill the entire series. It got worse with any following game. And no, the Black Ops games weren´t that great how everyone claims. Black Ops 1 was boring as fuck in multiplayer, not as terrible like MW2, just boring. Because with less of the stupidity from MW2, you could see how generic and boring the gameplay was and didn´t change since Call of Duty 2 from 2005. Black Ops 2 multiplayer got worse again with way too overpowered killstreaks, a toxic community and with the billions of KZbin videos, where people farm their 200+ kills from Killstreaks. I´m glad and proud that I dropped the franchise after MW3, after this disappointment and anger. But I don´t regret the time I had before that. 2 years ago, I decided to give Black Ops 2 a try, because a friend of mine annoyed me to play the Zombie mode. I already had no expectations to that game, but it still made me disappointed. I´m only glad that I didn´t waste more than 10 bucks on it.

Most of the things that were complained about were the highpoints of the game. Noob tubes. One man army. Commando. Quickscopers. Trickshotting. The lack of balance in this game is what made it unique and fun. Rewarding bad players who use op guns while keeping things fun by providing more creative while still strong classes for more experienced players (knifers, quickscopers, etc). Over the top unrealistic action sequences. The stress induced by this game is iconic. This game had it all. No wonder so many people played so many hours of this game. It was a masterpiece.

Here's my three answers to why you can't kill Makorav in this mission and your other questions. 1. Allen is under very clear orders to NOT kill Makorav but to gain his trust. This means, Shepard wasn't just thinking about Makorav, he wanted his whole terror cell organization and all of his contacts. Which would require Allen to spend alot of time WITH Makorav and his militia. Not to mention, Allen knows his chances of being the hero in this situation mid way through would get him killed by Makorav's associates. He's under orders and is outnumbered by the enemy, he has no choice but to go with it either way. 2. Makorav is a professional at what he does (he wouldn't be at the level of command he's at otherwise) and his attacks are well funded/planned out precisely, meaning he likely knocked out the airport's security system before going in. Otherwise, ofcourse, they would've worn masks. 3. Makorav didn't kill Allen before hand because he likely knows if Allen was there to kill him, he wouldn't be undercover. Makorav is the prize overall sure, but he still basically is guaranteed to be their middle man to connect to other major crime organizations. Alex the Red and the Brazil militia for example, if Makorav didn't start World War 3 then Shepard would've found so many other hidden contacts through him. Thus, making him a prize in a different way than what he becomes later on which is a blatant global threat and the only salvation the US has to bring back peace with Russia. 4. Makorav is there because he knows those men personally and has likely worked with them several times before this, making them a unit. Sure, the average terrorist leader usually doesn't throw himself out there but there are always exceptions and this is the most important part of Makorav's plan to start World War 3. Which means he could've also felt that he NEEDED to be there, to ensure it was done exactly how he wanted. Personally, when it comes to something that means everything to me, I'm never comfortable leaving it up to someone else to do it for me. I'd rather be there so I don't have to worry.

None of that makes sense 1. Yes, but a CIA agent would not go through with something like this, regardless of orders. He would kill Makorav before carrying out a major terrorist act that would plaster their faces all over the international media and potentially damage America's international reputation beyond repair. It would just be too risky. If it ever got out that the CIA not only knew about a major attack before it happened, but actually participated in it, the reputation of the United States would be tarnished globally and there would likely be major economic and political fallout that just wouldn't be worth capturing Makarov over. 2. How would Makarov knock out the security cameras of an international airport? Wouldn't that tip off airport security immediately that something is up? Makarov not wearing a mask actually makes since. He was described as being a terrorist for hire, if for some reason the US government want to attack Russia he would the one to do so. It would also make since for a Ranger to be there, someone loyal to US government, but that can still keep up with hardened terrorists. At the end of Call of Duty 4, we see that Price may be dead, but sometime between Call of Duty 4's and MW2's storylines, we learn that the Ultranationalists won the civil war in Russia, and thus Captain Price being in Russia at that time, recovering, was probably sentenced to hard work in a gulag for aiding the loyalists in the civil war. That's why in MW2 cutscenes we learn that Makarov wants to get him, which means that he didn't actually get him in the first place.

You have a fair point about the CIA operation. It likely wasn't an actual CIA operation, and Shepherd was just trying to make Allen feel special. No idea. No, Shepherd and Makarov didn't show any signs of having contact in the game, but there was that part in MW3 where Yuri reveals he tipped off the authorities and Makarov put a bullet in him. But what else would Shepherd want inside that DSM? There's no leads in the following game that imply it lead to any of Makarov's other properties, so it was likely something that incriminated Shepherd. Regarding the declaration of war, in the Operation Kingfish video short that you can find on KZbin, Task Force One-Four-One engages the Ultranationalists in a bid to kill/capture Vladimir Makarov. Even if it did take place in the Ukraine, they still tried to take out a member of the Ultranationalist Party, especially if you put these into consideration: callofduty.wikia.com/wiki/Vladimir_Makarov/Newspaper_Excerpts The nuclear silo incident at the end of MW1 was ruled off as a test launch, and Zakhaev is hailed as the "hero of the new Russia" in MW2. The Ultranationalists might not have scored a total victory, but they secured a nationalist sentiment in enough of the population to hold sway, plus the newspaper excerpts show that Makarov was gaining a large following and had the Russian Federation on their heels. And therein lies why the Russian president was so willing to go to war over this: tension was building against the West, Makarov was gaining power and proved he was able to seriously harm the government, and then, an American gets caught on camera leading a terrorist attack. It's either WAR, or a COUP from the Ultranationalists. The Russian Army, as I recall, has over one million soldiers. They crippled the US by diverting and surprising their forces via use of the ACS module, then straight up went for Washington DC. They had enough troops to attack DC and plan for an attack on Europe. The president was losing control of the military, until MW3 when everyone realized that the death toll was getting too high. But the Russian Federation's military was still turning over to the Ultranationalists, and it's very likely that they had begun regaining and arming like-minded troops in various countries that used to belong to the Soviet Union, like Ukraine. And BOOM, the chemical attacks happen. Europe's armies are crippled, and limited in movement, and their special forces -like the GIGN, whose barracks was hit, proving that the attacks were expertly planned-, and the Russians still have plenty of troops to engage at least three countries. But to actually conquer them? I doubt it. The plot is more in-depth than many gamers realize, yet still contains bits and pieces of flaws that are straight out of an action movie.
