7:15 Also, Marlin actively pushed Nemo to disobey him by breathing down his neck and disallowing him from having ANY autonomy. He was right to call Nemo out on his rebelliousness, but he also has to learn a lesson about overstepping as a parent.
@richardeckert883
@richardeckert883 2 жыл бұрын
That’s what makes “Finding Nemo” so great- Marlin is LAYERED. He’s overprotective, but he’s also loving, playful and even funny when he wants to be for his son (and that’s not even accounting for how TRAUMATIZED Coral’s death must have left him). And he’s also *wrong*, at least when his helicopter tendencies lead him to unintentionally undermine Nemo. In fact, I’d have REMOVED a sin for the setup/payoff of Marlin’s anemone joke to the other dads, because it’s both a sign of how far Marlin has come, and warmly funny.

Yes. That’s what this movie is. It’s him learning to give his some some independence. The man lost his wife and like 399 kids. He is a single father of a child with a small disability. How do you expect him to be as a parent?

@@toptiertech7291 Oh, that’s right! I forgot! Another layer to the discussion! Marlin might not have meant to, but he also condescended to his son... his disabled son, who was probably REALLY self conscious about his lucky fin. Marlin meant “you can’t go that close to the boat because it’s dangerous”, but Nemo probably heard “You can’t adventure out there because your fin leaves you weaker than other fish”. Thanks for the reminder, there!

7:08 It’s hillarious how badly Jeremy misunderstood this scene. Children who have strict controlling parents tend to be very rebellious and that’s the case with Nemo. All throughout Nemo’s life, Marlin has always been so overprotective of him, never letting Nemo have the freedom he needs as a child and unsurprisingly, Nemo decides to rebel against him, tired of never being allowed to do anything

I started watching CinemaSins in high school, during a lot of my formative writing years. I stopped watching them a few years ago because their weird, nitpicky style of critique admittedly really effected my creativity. In their prospective, it's like the mere act of storytelling itself is inherently wrong which really started to un-inspire young, impressionable me. I got over later on and I'm able to write for myself but CinemaSins still really stuck with me I really love this channel because it feels like my young self is getting a kind of closure. Thanks for being able to smartly articulate the many irritating fallacies that I couldn't quite pinpoint when I did watch these guys. It means so much to have their weird bullshit put into words
@HK47_115
@HK47_115 2 жыл бұрын
Did you just say critique? They never did critique. That's the problem. That's your problem. That's a problem with many people who watched him. You all keep thinking he's giving criticism. Please tell me where in any of his CinemaSins videos did he ever ever ever ever give criticism? In a video about nitpicks. Those are two different words with two different meanings that refer to two different things. They're not synonyms. No that's something you grew out of or you're annoyed by the way he's doing his nip pics now then I can understand. In some cases even agree. But if your problem is that you cannot separate the difference between nitpicks and criticisms, that is literally your own fault. This may sound ridiculous because honestly I wouldn't have thought this was possible, but you're literally watching his videos the wrong way. You're looking for criticism in a video about nitpicks. You do not watch a rant video expecting a review. You do not read a book expecting moving pictures like a movie. You do not put your hand on a hot stove or a hot pan not expect to burn yourself. But you expected criticism in a nitpick video?
@Th3Birdman
@Th3Birdman 2 жыл бұрын
@@HK47_115 I've seen you talking mad greasy in other comment threads on my channel, so now I'm about to take you to school. Put your seatbelt on. "Did you just say critique? They never did critique. That's the problem. That's your problem. That's a problem with many people who watched him. You all keep thinking he's giving criticism" It is absolutely amazing to me how people can have not only evidence, but videographic evidence that contradicts their belief system, and STILL believe that which is obviously incorrect. There are 187 videos in this series, a series where I have catalogued almost every instance of (poor) criticism from CinemaSins. I have them ON CAMERA stating in plain words that they review movies. You are arguing against CinemaSins themselves. "Please tell me where in any of his CinemaSins videos did he ever ever ever ever give criticism? In a video about nitpicks" You don't know what words mean. CinemaSins criticizes movies. Period. A nitpick is a form of criticism, genius. Here's the definition: Nit-picking: minute and usually unjustified criticism www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/nit-picking So not only are you contradicted by CinemaSins themselves, you are also being debunked by Merriam Webster. You're 0-2 so far "Those are two different words with two different meanings that refer to two different things. They're not synonyms" As we have already established, you don't know what you're talking about. Nit-picking is a form of criticism, in the same way a Camry is a kind of car. I have no idea where you are getting your definitions from, but you need to go back to the drawing board, considering your entire argument hinges on these concepts being different things. Your problem is that you believe "criticism" is a higher form of review, and are excluding the other kinds of review that count as critique. You believe that what CinemaSins does, does not constitute criticism, but I'm telling you that you are mistaken. Just because you find what they do to be beneath you does not mean it doesn't count. Nit picks are critiques, and a more reductive form of it. But again, you're literally arguing against the dictionary at this point, so I do look forward to you doubling down on this haha. Try again. I'll be waiting.

8:47 Marlin only reacts this way even after learning that they had no intention to eat them due to him still being cautious about every little thing. Only a couple hours ago he lost his only son from a diver taking him to god knows where in Marlin's eyes. At this point it's amazing how Marlin was able to even trust ANYONE to help him after the fact. Also Marlin and Dory have known Bruce and the other sharks for only a few minutes, Marlin being skeptical about getting help from them is understandable since they only just met them.

A continuity error. I've dived before, and there is no way in hell someone can get back on their boat in that short amount of time. But, I'd balance out the sin by removing it because of the diving accuracy of having 2 divers as opposed to 1. You NEVER dive alone.

You would think, as a wildly overprotective helicopter parent, Marlin would have asked Mr. Ray not only where he is taking the class today, but every microscopic detail about it....and then he probably would have kept Nemo at home when he learned they were going to the drop-off, since that place holds such bad memories for Marlin.

At this point, I'm convinced that the writers at CinemaSins believe that any form of setup for the purposes of payoff always qualifies as an "ex Machina" and that's pretty horrendous because I know some smartass is going to genuinely look up to CinemaSins and believe the same thing.

From an evolutionary perspective, mermaids would probably not ever be black (assuming they live deep in the ocean where there is less to no sunlight) if they are in more direct sunlight the skin color would make more sense to be darker in some cases. From a casting perspective and from the fact its just a movie though, it doesnt really matter. The conflict with that casting decision was more just political worries about black washing a role that was always animated as a white character.

Wouldn't it make sense if mermaids had countershading like so many other sea creatures? That is, they would be black on the top and white on the bottom?
