Regarding Jeremy's last sin; 1. Logan is a fully grown adult, not easy for a couple of kids to move around. 2. I was so freakin' in awe first time I saw Logan in the theaters- and of course any time I've watched it- but especially the first time, HOW MUCH she got across with just her eyes and expression. Like seriously? What she did with her eyebrows, knowing nothing else about the movie and just knowing it was a Logan flick- would make people go "Yup, she's his kid...", and the touch at the start where Logan tries to take the bag from her, she grabs it, and he looks surprised that she's strong enough to not let him take it before he puts more effort into it and still failing to get it. Wolverine is a tank- even in a more broken down form dude snapped a shotgun (or rifle? forget) with his hands and his leg- That she was strong enough to get it out of his grip- even taking into account him not having expected an actual challenge getting it- and her looks they gave each other the whole time??? The three of them had such an amazing dynamic where you knew what kind of relationship existed between Logan and Charles, and more impressively, the dynamics she was forming with Logan and Charles, because it was very different, expressed on her side by facial expressions alone. They were robbed at every award show. And what irked me about the sins was that she didn't need to talk, she communicated with Charles in her head- clearly in Spanish since Charles responded in Spanish when he could, and until Charles died with Logan being hostile, she wasn't at the point where she was ready to open up to him. If the sleep over didn't end in blood I'm pretty sure she would have started talking to Logan with Charles since they were all laughing and being a family the night before. He might have been her bio donor, but he wasn't "dad" yet- The level of detail that went into every interaction, the care that went into figuring out what scenario would push the story to evolve into something amazing... them not even being nominated for best picture, best actor, best actress, and best supporting actor blows my damn mind... Crap, like 3 years later or some crap and I'm still pissed off Logan didn't end up being the first comic book movie to be nominated for best picture and it should have won it...

Never understood that sin when 2 characters speak different languages but can understand each other. Especially with aliens who have a vocals build completely different from our and so they can't pronounce very well our language, also we can't pronounce very well theirs. It is completely normal for those cases to be completely possible to understand the other ones language but not being able to pronounce it so they speak their natural language to be able to better to communicate. What is so strange and unrealistic to comprehend?
@wolf10665 жыл бұрын
I find it strange and unrealistic when movies depict aliens (and terrestrial animals) that somehow manage to speak flawless English (or Interlac or whatever the setting's chief language is) despite being physiologically different than all the other species. Hell, _humans_ who were not raised listening to another human language cannot properly replicate all the sounds in that language if they try to learn it in later life - and _we've_ all got the same sort of vocal cords. If you know that your friend can comprehend you perfectly when you speak in your native language, why the hell _wouldn't_ you use it? If you can understand them well enough when they speak their language, why would you expect them to speak yours? And that's just human language differences, never mind human/alien differences.
@Oscar-j6b5 жыл бұрын
@@wolf1066 exactly. Some of this aliens in movies have giant mandibles, tentacles coming from their mouth, a snoot and people are expecting them to find common language dispate the fact they can't even pronounce the same sounds like us. Also really good point with different human languages. You just brought that to my attention and I don't know how to feel.
@wolf10665 жыл бұрын
@@Oscar-j6b Thanks. It's not something many people have to deal with so it's not surprising it hadn't occurred to you. I've learned other languages and associated with a lot of people for whom English is not their native language who have learned it at different stages in their lives. A knew a German bloke who opined that "you can always spot a German by the way they pronounce "th" - we just can't do it." In his case, he would say "munt" instead of "month". However, I've got another German friend who _can_ pronounce "month", and other ~th words, perfectly - but then, his parents had frequent English-speaking visitors while he was growing up. I did fine picking up the phonemes of French, German and Māori - all of which I heard spoken or sung when I was a child - but I have difficulty in _perceiving what I should be saying_ with other languages with which I'm not as familiar - I can only approximate with sounds with which I'm familiar because "that sounds kinda like the German "ch" or that's like the Māori "ng" sound or close to the O in "tone" etc." A native speaker of the language would no doubt hear differences between my attempt and the speech of other native speakers.
@mordirit87275 жыл бұрын
2 anedoctal examples: My parents and my sister's in-laws aren't huge on the whole studying thing; her in-laws are from a French speaking region in Belgium, my parents are from Brazil; after almost a decade of knowing each other, it's actually quite fun to watch the four of them sit for a chat: my parents speak Portuguese, my sister's in-laws speak French, and everyone walks away understanding pretty much everything, rarely ever needing an intervention from me, my sister or my brother-in-law for a more complex or (more often) too slangy sentence/term. So hell, even *without* each person knowing both languages and it being a matter of comfort, it can still happen. But then we get to me and my sister; I started studying English when I was 4; my sister started when she was 7; this small gap had some huge consequences: I frankly consider English to be my main language; it's the language I think in, it's the language I dream, it's the language I fall back on when I'm too drunk to properly realize what I'm saying, it's the language I instinctively jump to when I smash my pinky finger against the goddamn leg of the goddamn table and just need to curse; my sister, however, still thinks of Portuguese as her main language; whenever we are talking, it is *very* common for the both of us to end up carrying a conversation where I am speaking English and she is speaking Portuguese, just because neither of us feel like putting the effort of forcing ourselves to speak in a language we don't use naturally.

@@typo691 Logan's Run is a 1976 Action/Adventure movie with a PG Rating, based on a book by authors William Nolan and Georage Johnson; the publishing date of the book being 1967. Logan is a rated "R" 2017 Action/Adventure Superhero movie adapted from a comic series entitled Old Man Logan, published in 2008 by Marvel Comics. CinemaSins published their video of "EWW Logan" in 2017. The "joke" I'm making is that the age disparity between an audience who has seen "Logan's Run" and an audience who has seen "Logan" is quite large, roughly 41 years, making it very unlikely that a great many people will understand the reference "and" have a firm understanding of the times that both films were made in. The crux of the joke is actually that Logan's Run is a semi-obscure pop-culture reference within a comparatively mainstream property like Logan.

I've seen both, but then I've seen roughly 8% of all popular films made so I'm clearly not in either demographic you mentioned.

Given how old Logan is I don't doubt that he DOES speak Spanish along with plenty of other languages but chooses to speak English because its the language is the most comfortable for him like Th3Birdman mentioned. I'm 5'0 and I can drive but have to move the seat ridiculously close to the steering wheel in order to reach the pedals. No doubt Laura had to do the same, it just wasn't shown

My favorite scene in this movie was when Logan was swearing at the semitrucks and Professor X told him "You're yelling at a machine.". Mainly I've had my own "you're yelling at a machine" moment. Over someone yelling at a GPS.

The previous movies they had sinned were ones I had really just seen once, or hadn't seen in a while- and often I wasn't actually looking at the screen when "watching"- so Logan was actually the one where it absolutely hit me they were making up sins completely, cutting away so they could outright lie about what happened in the scene... That's what lead me to end up finding, somehow- I forget how exactly, "everything wrong with everything wrong with..." by bobvids... And because of that I'm pretty sure that's why you just popped up in my recommendations, ironically, with the movie that made me realize cinemasins was full of outright lies and creating mistakes where there were none. The specific sin? When Logan puts Xavier in bed and the wheelchair's knocked over- they sinned him for not putting the wheelchair back before he leaves... But he puts the wheelchair by the bed before he leaves like 2 seconds after they cut... I couldn't finish watching it- and that's when I looked into what other movies I honestly thought I had missed mistakes and hadn't- and realized how fucked up it was. When they started, when their vids were like, 3 to 5 minutes long- they were good. Legitimate continuity things that really aren't a big deal, some loop holes- every movie will have those things- they're right when they say no movie is actually perfect... but it was in good fun and wasn't anything to like- ruin someone wanting to watch the flick. You could tell they often did movies they loved. That said people do forget Jackman is a damn giant... lol, I was lucky enough to score Logan Noir tickets, got the poster they gave out too... our theater wasn't the one he and Mangold were doing the Q&A in, they would do that next door to us. I was in the front row (you get the recliners in the front row in that theater), the seat to the left of me was empty and I noticed some one come over and stand there. I got annoyed because they cut off "When the man Comes Around" which is a great song to go to... and then I got annoyed this dude towering over me was just standing over me... Then I noticed the mic, and that he wasn't actually standing over me, he was just so tall out of the corner of my eye it seemed like he was, he was at a perfectly fine distance away from someone sitting down. Then he said hi to us all and he and Mangold went up saying they wanted to thank us for coming before the Q&A. Seeing how tall he actually, yeah- where Laura comes up to him she can definitely use the pedals- especially since they show her like- using bags and even his legs to hold her forward enough to reach them! Sometimes I feel people forget that while they had originally tried to make him look shorter since Logan is really 5'3" in the comics- that went out the window looooooooooooong ago. It wasn't really working, and I'm sure making trenches and having him barefoot bending his knees was just a pain LoL!

My biggest issue with Jeremy is his ridiculous notion that just because someone speaks a different language that yhe other person cant talk in their own and the other wont understand. I have 2 brothers who like me speak fluent english, German and Portuguese. We constantly switch and mix all three when talking to each other. If people speak the same languages it makes zero difference which one they are using. They WILL understand each other. At that point it is all a matter of preference.
