Something wild I’ve learned about Def Noodles is that he genuinely believes everyone who doesn’t like him is being paid by Keemstar to further some agenda. Like, Def thinks even Jessi Smiles is on Keem’s payroll because she just… doesn’t think he’s very funny.

*Not-so-fun fact: Def Noodles is 100% going to lose the defamation case against Keemstar. Here's why* 1. Keemstar basically said "Def Noodles is a pedophile." 2. Dennis decided to sue Keemstar for defamation. 3. Dennis publically states "Def Noodles is a fictional character that I play." This utterly DESTROYS his case against Keemstar, because according to Dennis himself, Keemstar only defamed a fictional character, not a real person. I fucking hate Keemstar, and really wanted Def to win, but he ruined any chance of that happening. To put it very, VERY lightly, he is not a smart person.

Lol your right Americans atm cannot understand sarcasm. But I like to think that it's mostly because extremists abuse sarcasm and jokes in order to get their ideas mainstream. So in retaliation people who are sensible now are hesitant towards thinking something is actually sarcastic. Especially the younger generation. So if your viewers are younger Americans it would make sense that they are defensive of statements even if they are supposed to be interpreted as sarcastic.
@purplesapphire35422 жыл бұрын

As an American, I've noticed the sarcasm thing too! From what I've observed, Americans generally have a cultural sense of humour that is less dependent on sarcasm, as while we utilize it fairly often, especially with older generations, we tolerate it less in especially taboo topics. I think this is why we'll be sarcastic around a barbeque or playing cards with our great uncle twice removed, but not expect or process sarcasm when talking about the Lopez brothers' allegations and similar topics. It's like an unwritten social rule with the younger generations that if the topic is serious, you shouldn't really joke about it in any way, including in a sarcastic manner. Of course, I'm not an expert, all of this is just random kid's observations. Don't take this as the be-all of social-linguistic information.
@tiffany17052 жыл бұрын
I was thinking this but couldn't really word it. Totally agree

Something else I've noticed is that a lot of Americans are basically incapable of distinguishing between stuff that is just gross/different and stuff that actually causes harm. We are always ready to go full moral panic at the drop of a hat (thanks, Puritan cultural roots). So when somebody makes a joke/sardonic comment about a very serious topic, it's like Americans are never able to think beyond the emotional reaction they're having to consider what the joke/comment actually means. Our national sport might as well be pearl-clutching tbh.
