Im a 100% believer in people can change, but this is not how someone who changed explains the journey of a whole mindset shift. I’m not going to sit here on my high horse and say that I have not had some problematic views in my life because I have, but I did not change them by isolating myself from the world and going on a vacation for 6 months. I changed them by exposing myself to people who have different views, being open to listening to the experience of others, and learning that my experiences growing up do not diminish the experiences of others.

The gross thing about her and her tweets is the amount of support she got from other famous people and influencers. If I EVER found out one of my friends was a racist and a xenophobe, my friendship with them would be OVER! People like that NEVER CHANGE! In Europe it's not really colourism in this case. It's more xenophobia and blind nationalism - like these people believe they're inherently superior simply because they were born white and British. It's more of a cultural element than a straight colour issue. Although these people do tend to be racist as well.

There is colourism in the African American community in the US too. Snoop dog’s daughter revealed she tried to unalive herself due to people being jerks about her being darker. The hatefulness a British person would feel towards A polish person is xenophobia not racism. I’m not saying all Americans don’t know what xenophobia is. We just tend to fall back into racism. xenophobia in europe is wild. i live in france and a lot of "fully french" ppl have the same mindset as this influncer. white immigrants get discriminated against so imagine when those people are both immigrants and not white........western europe is a lot worse than ppl think. those famous wholesome looking people can hold the nastiest views and just hide them or keep them for their private circles because it wouldn't be good for their "aesthetic". of course those views often come with the usual transphobia, homophobia, classism and hatred of religions that are not christianity

I honestly don't know why a person like that would change her racist views. They are not obligated to live with people that are not their race in any way. Not in work, not in her family, definitely not in her friend group and probably not in her neighborhood. The only backlash they get is from faceless people online which are fairly easy to ignore if you already don't give a damn about a whole race of people. It impacted her wallet, but she doesn't *need* to actually change to remedy that, she can just put on another mask. What reason would a person like that have to change their views?

I was a fan until I saw the tweets I’m not any of the minorities she spoke about I’m Hispanic but I have family members that are and ever since the horrible “I’m Sorry” video which idk who her people are but that video was a terrible apology I can’t seem to watch her now because of it. She’s “HEALING” from the shame she has put on herself from understanding she is/was horrible. I hate how she centered on herself and not the hurt she caused by her “self-love” instead of emphasizing learning to be accepting of her faults and apologetic of others she stigmatized. If she had made a couple or horrible tweets and had shown over the years she was a nice person in other ways then maybe I would be willing to be more empathetic towards her but she made hundreds of tweets that were racist, xenophobic and homophobic.
