Hi mate, welcome to the 916 club! I hope your GTV gives you as much joy as my Spider does. Couple of things: Cambelts are definitely 36000 mile/3 year jobs, this was massively revised by Alfa after a number of cars failed around the 50000 mark, the tensioners are rubbish. I would recommend changing the water pump and get the cam variator checked at this point too. Other than that, they do like oil and need to be checked weekly or fortnightly depending on your milage. The other thing is that they do like drinking car champagne (only use Super) in order for the detergents to stop carbon build up inside the engine/break down anything already in there. Would service every 6 months ideally with filters etc. once a year ignoring mileage. Last thing, be careful pulling the bonnet release/adjusting steering column as you can knock the wiring to the immobilser loose causing the dreaded key code problem. Mine did this for a while but after tracing the wire around a dodgy connection was found and touch wood a free fix. Honestly though it is the best car I've bought and they are bloody gorgeous in either GTV or Spider form. Hopefully bump into you at an Alfisti meet soon and can't wait for more Alfa content!

My biggest issue is with people who do not understand Alfa’s and treat then as a Focus. That’s when things like oil consumption/timing belt failures occur. Check under the car aswell as they can rot the floors along the sills and seat belt anchorage.

Just had a thought ! Why not get two Alpha badges or any badges of your choice and stick them over the door card holes. They're both on the same point at each door so it would look fine. Less hassle than changing the door trim panels. Good luck.

The cambelt is NOT a weakness, it’s idiots who don’t change it. The interval is 30k or three years, NOT 60k. It was reduced from 72k due to multiple cambelt failures in part down to a plastic tensioner which wore its teeth away. All cambelt kits come with a metal tensioner made by Littens but for some reason the interval remains the same. The oil level must be checked regularly on a TS. They are specified to run 10w40 but can be run on 10w60 for ‘spirited use’. I only use 10w60 as oil consumption drops to zero. That’s the inertial fuel cut off switch. DO NOT TOUCH.

I'd say from looking at the paint that your best option would be a doors shut respray. Prep it all yourself and you could probably get it done half decent for under a grand. Probably less depending on where you go.

Buy a complimentary piece of fabric/ leather, cut a suitable pair of shapes and contact adhesive them over the holes. You'll invest in a new card and go and crack them yourself. You'll never add value or enjoyment with new cards and if you choose a decent scrap of black leather it'll look fine.
