That’s not a good lesson. If a friend is being that, you should do that. How are you getting that moral from this episode. Sure, Starlight decided to turn him into stone before turning him back. but he wasn’t being toxic, manipulative or abusive this whole episode, just his usual trickster self. That is probably the worst moral someone could possibly take from this episode.

I love that the writers just shove Discord back into the “villain” box every time they need an antagonist. This is like 3 seasons back from his behavior in the Break Up Break Down. Last time he acted this outrageously was at the Gala in season 5 and at least then he was told off for it. None of the writers seem to remember that he’s been showing character development.

Oh you know, it actually would have been super interesting to see those two interact! It would've helped flesh out "Professor Snape-Pony's" point of view, and demonstrated that of course he's wrong about other creatures in general, but there can be cause for concern bringing previously dangerous beings into their society straightaway. Would have made a better case for his actions in the finale too, if there'd be any acknowledgement that there actually were dangers facing the school

Mike Burnsy good point, I'm not sure if any of them are royalty but the last time the Professor Snape Pony showed up and insulted all the non-Ponies all the Royals were there (except the Hippogriffs since we know Skystar is the Princess there) so at the very least these children are known to and protected by their respective Royal Families ... or the Rulers could just be interested in the safety of their people? I know Ember speaks with Smolder but the rest of them seem to be a 'representative of the people'. Not sure, but I stand by the point: if any of these kids got killed or horribly maimed then there would be *trouble* 😅😅😅

the fact that discord expects to get what he wants, and then makes a huge fuss when he does not, shows he knows nothing about true friendship. he is a huge baby and Starlight should not have forgiven him for ALMOST KILLING HER STUDENTS. Discord was a huge asshole this episode, and did things he normally wouldn't do. he does insult, but never so bad as what he said to Starlight. he got what he wanted after almost killing students and having a temper tantrum. this should not have been allowed. teaching children to have a hissy fit for not getting what they want, so they will get what they want, isn't friendship at all.

Sin 6: What about this actually looks like a trap? We find out Discord really did trick them, but it worked because this looks exactly like the beginning of every quest of theirs. Sin 36: Spike's point is that Discord's so OP, trying to match him in magic is usually a bad idea. Saying magic is the answer to him because there's one move out there that can petrify him is like saying rocks are the answer to Superman because kryptonite in particular is toxic to him.

Phesheya Bhembe Actually when they show the "glowing marks" in this episode, it show pixely sparks. When the real Cutie Map signal shows small copies of their Cutie Marks spreadoutwards from the main one all of which are flashing with a see through like look. It is subtle but it IS there.

Also why does Discord care so much about being invited the school it's not like he would even care about friendship lessons and lessons are not really something Discord would be interested in so basically this problem with Discord and Starlight shouldn't have ever happened and it was definitely not necessary to begin with.

7:30 Actually Spitfire does teach at wonderbolt academy, occasionally volunteers as subsitute for flight school teacher for younger foals, and knows how to keep the body heathily trained & fit. Maud Pie has a Rockorette degree, is well traveled, and is pretty insightful. Trixie....knows how to entertain and grab the attention of others. Especially if they are young foals. Also you are forgetting about Spike and Starlight themselves as well for your headcount.

This plot is similar to Make Friends But Keep Discord, only unfunny and painful to watch! That's another season 8 episode recycling plots from previous episodes. Seriously, who are the writers now cuz some of the old ones are gone? This is breaking my heart that the show's becoming less entertaining. snailgirl6 this entire Season is the weakest by far (to me). The Mane Six aren't even aware of what Chrysalis nearly did to the Tree of Harmony for Faust's sake! Rainbow Dash was yet again acting like a remorseless prankster, Twilight is devastated over being snubbed by her super old, super lame role model, family bonding holiday time (okay that last one I can forgive cos it was so cute) just so many weak points it may as well be a Final Fantasy Boss!

But that entire episode they spent 'friend bonding' in the woods they never caught on something was wrong while Chrysalis was making the animals hate Fluttershy, have Applejack be upset with Rarity etc even though Thorax and the rest of the Changelings are good now you can't tell me they've forgotten about the Canterlot wedding fiasco and how easily Chrysalis got between them. It just seems they forgot about a major villainess who got away and (to them) has not been seen since. Thanks for the reply!

The school seems to have been an excuse for lazy writing as well as a political statement about racial diversity. The show is supposed to be about the ponies first and foremost and it seems like the writers have kind of forgotten that.

When plunder wines sprouted we saw while he 'valued' the main six we saw his more rutless and cold blooded side as he didn't give two licks of a shit about rest of the pony kind or other creatures. Why should he? Basically the only true immortal in the series what is the point of caring for unnamed people? Discord was a being while enjoyed the friendship Fluttershy gave him deeply and in turn valued her greatly never had much interest in expand that beyond main six spike and perhaps big mac. And small chace Celestia and Luna. He still loves to screw with people especially Twilight and all his competantly done interactions during a crisis have the Star Trek Q's brilliant trial teaching method. Episodes like Twilight's Kingdom , Three is a crowd , and the one with Starlight becomes the principle hurt his character. He is the strongest character in the MLP no questions asked and if he was a truly melicious creature like Sombra or Sheogorath then Equestria would have been fucked millenias ago. One snap of fingers and bam! Ponies inside out. What I am trying to say is DHX sometimes really fuck up. Sorry for the word vomit Discord is the only reason I watch this show and seeing how they waste a characters fucking john de lance voices tick me off.

8:45 it's probably for international versions. I don't know for certain if it's the case with mlp cause I've never looked it up, but a lot of movie and tv show characters have different names or spellings in other languages, they probably just make the original with things like pictures in place of names rather than either putting names on there that don't match every country's version or having to change it for other translations. That's also my theory on why written words in this show are almost always illegible scribbles

Discord wasn't evil to begin with, he was just against ORDER, not Harmony. There's a huge difference, and besides... Another thing I'd like to point out is it seems anything non-pony is instantly "bad" according to the ponies without even getting to know the species. Like how the mane 6 was jumping straight to being colossal dicks towards Zecora in one of the older seasons just because she's different, and in the end she was actually really nice and friendly. Casual racism... you know, for kids!! TL;DR MLP is fucked up on many levels and Discord deserved better.

This episode actually was What about Discord 2.0, they wrote Discord like the way he act in Season 2-4; is like they completely forgotten the continuity of Discordant Harmony and The Break Up and Break Down. Nice job writers, you make another Starlight episode into people worst list again.
