The LS400 was my favorite car of all the cars I have owned since I passed my driving test (first time) in 1975. I exchanged my crysler grand Cherokee for it. I have been driving lexus ever since. Unfortunately due to the side effects of Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy neck and throat cancer I haven't been able to drive. I love that you are going to save it. I have been following your KZbin channel for a long time and your enthusiasm is infectious. Looking forward to seeing the final result. I live in the UK but I seem to be more connected to the US since I was 17 and all being well I will be celebrating my 70th birthday on 8th October 2025 in New York and your welcome to come and have a beer. In the meantime, best wishes and stay safe J.

@@Sam21998 they're all really good vehicles. can't stress the importance of regular maintenance enough. ive got a 2004 is300 with 270,000 on the clock and you can't feel it idling. change the oil every 3-4k miles and service other fluids once or twice a year depending on my mileage. oil, trans fluid, and monitoring leaks is always prudent. oil change intervals on the fwd vehicles is top of the list. they tend to sludge in the rear valve cover bc the engine tilts back slightly. So, oil change intervals are gonna be your biggest proponent on the 330's. it gets costly if they sludge.

Just goes to show, when the Japanese make something to rival the Merc S class, which the LS400 was, they do it well. I doubt that there are many S Classes of the same year on the road with a Million+ miles. What would make it far more interesting is to understand the service history of the car. Whats been changed etc in its lifetime. Other than needing every rubber component replaced underneath, and a little bodywork, shes not bad.

I've been waiting for this video! I hope you add a little style to it. Maybe an OEM+. But a little Tavarish flare.

I can't wait to see the series on this car, being I drive a 08 gx470 with 230k miles on it and would drive it cross country tomorrow.

I've been there, 3 thousand years ago, when we first saw this car in background in one of videos. Didn't expect to finally see something was done to it.

Should take the cluster out and send it to Lexus before it flips. It is a Toyota however and didn’t they offer a new car if reached a million miles?

Not surprised at all from the lack of sludge under the valve cover. As long as quality oil is used with reasonable OCI's (i'd say 4K max on conventional / synthetic blend and 7.5K max on full synthetic), a decently designed engine shouldn't have sludge, even after a million miles. The fact that its still running at a million with the original engine suggests it didn't suffer from extended OCI's. If you do short OCI's and use a quality synthetic, you shouldn't see much varnish either.

This is a great car to restore as I think its earned it, not many cars go a million miles and keep on going. Fully restore it and see if it can do another million.

Gauges likely just need new stepper motors and the grounds to be checked. Should be a fairly easy swap on the stepper motors.

The shafts need to be re-lubed. Smacking the top of the dash while at speed should free them. Very common issue.

Exactly Range Rovers and European cars in general are unreliable money pits, you can’t beat Toyota/Lexus.
