Fun fact: In this game, the Merlon issue is actually addressed. THere's this one guy, I think in Rogueport sewers, who mentions that there's some ancient race/clan where people are named for their professions. So, this Merlon is a different Merlon from the original Paper Mario, but is from the same clan-I-guess, and has the same specialty - that being upgrading your partners.

Cool fact about thousand Year Door. Those cursed chests ARE the four heroes who fought the Shadow Queen and hid the crystal stars, just after they beat her, she cursed them to be trapped, and the only thing keeping them safe from the curse was the Crystal Stars themselves. But they had to hide them so they wouldn't be used to revive her anyways. So the reason the chests "curse" Mario is because while they're twisted evil spirits, at heart they still are heroes that want to help the next potential person who could defeat the Shadow Queen.

In all other version, the choice to not attack is placed above attack, but in English, the choices are flipped, but their connecting dialogue isnt. Thats why Grodus acts like Mario wants to attack, even though he is doing what Grodus said, wheras if you say "attack" (which is actually Don't Attack in other versions) he tells Mario to stop his blubbering. This isnt a sin for the script, its a sin for the localization team who somehow missed this.

If there was any one game I WISHED was ported to Switch or something, it would be this. It's the only (old) Paper Mario I've yet to play, and everyone has almost unanimous praise for it. I never had a GameCube, I'd love to see this game get a port so I could play it for myself.

I haven’t played the game in 7 years after struggling to beat Grodus for the most part only to THEN deal with Bowser and Kammy with less health, FP and items to spare, which lead to me ragequitting for what was supposed to be a short while but of course- I moved and so did time 😤 I miss playing it tho... @@Embyreal Yeah it's an obscure strat that the game doesn't hint at whatsoever, but it's a really good one. The strat that me and many others went with was getting enough exp to level up after the battle, which will also work
