My mother was watching that scene with me. She had no interest in She-hulk or any of the marvel propertis. She heard Jen's reason for handling her anger and gave a very loud outburst. "REALLY! SERIOUSLY! IF THAT WHAT YOU THINK IT'S LIKE FOR WOMEN?!" She was very vocally not a fan of that scene and my mother was a single mom who owned her own business. I am not going to say women never deal with this kind of treatment, but it was funny seeing my mom react like that when the scene is meant for people like her to relate to it

I've been a fan of Hulk and She-Hulk since I was a kid. I've always loved her because it was well written, and genuinely funny. This show is just cringy and insulting to fans. Which is a shame because I had high hopes for it, and still think casting Tatiana Maslany was a great idea! Even Jameela Jamil as Titania was a fantastic choice! But it's sad when all they wanted to do was offend their toxic fanbase. The twerking alone should get a few thousand sins. Discounting all the trauma Bruce has gone through deserves a few thousand more sins.

Yeah, this was the exact moment I paused the video and checked out. There is no way that Jen's line can be taken positively there. The scene played out practically verbatim for Toby asking about Tom and Andrews need for "web fluid" down to his organic reveal. Bruce had the inhibitor on, so he couldn't Hulk out. But also, we never saw what happened with the suicide attempt and only know that Bruce turned into the Hulk and recovered. It's the same as when Bruce died from falling onto the rainbow bridge in Thor Ragnarok and then resurrected when Hulk took over. The implication is that any damage he gets is fixed by the Hulk taking over, but that doesn't mean Bruce doesn't get damaged.

I am perpetually annoyed at the accusations of this show copying Deadpool by having Jen break the fourth wall. Jen is a much older character than Deadpool, and breaking the fourth wall was a central gimmick in her books for literal decades before Deadpool was even created. Moreover, Jen herself isn't even the first character to have this gimmick, and she receives tutorials on just how much she is able to break the fourth wall by an even older female character, learning from her that she can freely move between the panels of the comic if she wishes. Having a show centered on She-Hulk, where she DOESN'T break the fourth wall, would be a total betrayal of the character. And yes, this goes for the part in the finale, where she stops everything and rewrities the ending. That is lifted directly from the comics. This show had SO SO many problems, but breaking the fourth wall isn't one of them. I am flabbergasted that people think Deadpool somehow "owns" breaking the fourth wall or being aware that he is in a comic. It's weird to present yourself as knowledgeable about comics and complain about this non issue.

I am a little disappointed at Cinema (TV) Sins. An hour and a half to sin a show with a runtime that’s shorter than either of the Avatar movies, and they don’t mention how stupid it is to say she “controls [her anger] infinitely better than [Bruce].” Who watched his mother get beat to death, attempted suicide, had 2 of his best friends die, be hunted by the government for years only to do a 180° and help them when they were somewhat complicit at literally creating a monster and Hulk is the only one to stop him from destroying Harlem. Also, he was stuck on a gladiator planet for years as well, but she’s “infinitely” better at controlling her anger (she isn’t) because she deals with smug co-workers, MIGHT get called “emotional” (which she clearly is, so it’s not like it’s an unfair thing to say to her) gets hit on in public, which doesn’t seem to be a problem for her since she slept with 3 people in 2 months, that’s 18 people per year on average! (and the “literally murdered” line is just BS because men get murdered much more than women in the US) The show does this as some “girl power” moment, then completely undoes it in the penultimate episode when she Hulks out from being doxxed and embarrassed at some awards thing, where every woman gets an award (seems a little patronizing) that no one has ever held in the history of lawyering. It would be different if she was being coached by someone that Bruce recommended, but in no way is she “better at controlling her anger” than Bruce. Not only did She Hulk do it before Deadpool, but he didn't break the fourth wall until a couple issues into his comics. The biggest thing wrong with She-Hulk (and also Velma) is the sheer amount of blatant misandry included in their scripts. This show wasn't meant to be a good She-Hulk show, or a fun "lawyer" show. It was meant to bash men for existing at all and constantly buzzword or gasslight the message "men are bad, rude, rapey, or incompetent". Quite frankly, it should've never passed quality checks to be greenlit.
