I think the fire causing freezing is one of the obvious examples of where they completely messed up. But yes, you have a point with the fuel. The consensus is that the vehicles themselves are inverted, as they are not being driven in reverse gear. This means the fuel in them is inverted and requires inverted air to combust - they would not work. Likewise, sator would not even be able to light the fuel after TPs crash.

(linear) time ONLY flows in two directions: forwards and backwards. Thus, “Temporal Pincer Movement” literally defines itself 👍

There's actually a nice theory about Sator's real employers: So, Tenet is basically a paradox movie in which the past and the future affect each other mutually, with a table spoon of time loops. The theory goes like this: Sator was wrong thinking he had been hired by some bad people from the future in order to assemble all the pieces of the algorithm and bury it in Stalsk-12 explosion. In fact, he was hired for this job by the Protagonist (from the future). Think of it this way (keep in mind the paradoxical nature of the movie): the future version of the Protagonist was guiding the Sator from the past (using the instructions, buried in radioactive hot spots of the planet) to assemble the algorithm and send it into the future to the alleged 'bad people'. Yet the Tenet guys steal it from the hypocenter and keep it until the future Tenet guys (I'd say involving the 'Oppenheimer' scientist) revert it once again, so that the algorithm would travel back into the past. In the past, Sator is tasked by the Protagonist to assemble it and the whole thing starts over and over again. This way, we get a closed time loop that reminds me of a 'hot potato' - the Algorithm is kept relatively safe within a specific period of time between some point in the past and some point in the future, where everyone does their predetermined job and the Algorithm travels back and forth in time so that no one could really get a hold of it and use it.

10:45 according to movie there’s also a thing called entropy wind so if you see the seen backwards the mirror would seemingly get repaired hours after it was broken due to entropic wind (The mirror was fine in the past but according to future events it was broken to be repaired so mirror would actually break itself without any reason to match timeline) but from a normal perspective, first mirror was fine but it would start to break itself hours before the car chase and will get to the stage where it would stop itself breaking without any reason and then happens the car chase which repairs the mirror 20:31 as we know Tenet organisation knows everything which will happen even if it’s in past or future due to information manipulation shown in the movie but it may be possible that Tenet organisation’s few members came inverted to pick up Niel’s body to revert it into normal to get decompose. Because the leader of the organisation already knew Niel will die so he took his body so that his body can decompose like normally (not everything is shown in the movie but we have to under stand it) 2:00 the entropic wind explains this scene too. The bullet hole from a normal perspective wasn’t there at first but it started to appear few hours before even it was shot just so that it could repair itself when it was shot. When seeing this inverted : the Niel fires the shot and the entropic wind tries to reverse the effect of something inverted so it will slowly repair the chair and then it would be gone but the bullet would still be there and there are million explanations to why bullet was there. Regarding the whole reverse gravity thing - the big problem you're going to have with inverted time is Conservation of Momentum. When a person is inverted, they would still retain their original uninverted momentum. So, while all of us standing on the surface of Earth are travelling west to east at the same speed as the planet we're standing on, when you invert, the Earth is no longer going west to east - but you are. Depending on where you are at on the surface, the Earth is rotating at between 0mph and 1040mph. So let's say where you are, it's going 500mph. So when you invert, you're still going 500mph east, but Earth is now going 500mph west. So you're suddenly going 1000mph relative to the surface of Earth. But it gets better - because Earth is revolving around the Sun - at about 67,000mph. So now you're revolving at 67,000mph around the Sun in one direction, and Earth is going the other way, for a total difference of 134.000mph. But wait, there's more. The Sun is also revolving around the galactic core - at 514,000mph. And now you and the Sun are going in opposite directions in this regard as well, for a total 1,028,000mph difference. And finally, the galaxy is moving away from the "center" of the universe at about 1,300,000mph. And now you're inverted relative to that as well, so you and the galaxy are parting ways at 2,600,000mph. If you're lucky, you'll just shoot up into space at around 4 million mph and instantly burn to ash via friction. If you're unlucky, you'll smack into Earth at that speed and probably destroy the planet, Krypton-style. Or, like the movie, you can just ignore all of that because cool visuals.

@kirilangelov97522 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I agree with that. It was cool in the beginning with bullets coming back into the gun and such, but went straight to bullshit when they started talking about breathing special air that is also inverted. Pretty sure those masks were not watertight. Also, how were they talking to each other? If they speak through inverted air, then what happens outside the masks in the normal air? And what about air and humidity in contact with their skin? They should have kept the concept minimal and not dig too much into the mechanics of the whole thing until it starts caving in and turns into BS. Which could have been ignorable if they had a coherent, sensible story and characters, which they absolutely did not... Pity, I had high hopes for the movie, but to this day I feel irritated that I spent the time to go see it. And there are very few movies I regret seeing...

Having the movie sin timer move forward or backward depending on which direction the scene is moving is genius
@bjcooper43653 жыл бұрын
Multiple times you gave sins to parts where something is damaged by something from the future moving backwards in time. For example, the bullet in the opera siege. The effect of the inverted object will propagate in the direction it is flowing, here it is in the opposite direction of forward time. This effect will be visible, but the distance into the opposite direction of time will be reduced because the entropy opposes the natural entropy of the world. Neil explains this in the cargo box on the way back to Oslo. It is a concept known as entropic wind. Objects and their effects will not propagate very far into the opposite direction of time because entropic wind is pushing against the inverted effect. Hope this makes sense and clears up any confusion there.

First time I watched it, it actually made a surprising amount of sense; more than enough for me to understand... then I started thinking about the science and logic behind things and my head hurt. Just think about this: that final pincer attack from the perspective of the forward time people would look as if the battle field was already there because the inverted people are already there, and they would have to go into battle some time before the inverted people because they can coordinate attacks like bombs. Plus they would see dead inverted people come back to life, meaning they know what is going to happen to the person before they die. And all the damage is being repaired due to inversion, so they can see the aftermath of explosion, meaning that could change what they do, and there for paradox. All the damage done by the inverted people will forever go into the past. From the inverted people's perspective, they would have to arrive later that the normal people in order to attack at the same time, and the place would already be damaged from the forward people. Every above applies to the inverted people as well. All this to say this: 1- the battlefield will be destroyed infinitely: it was built destroyed, and it was destroyed again. How could something already destroyed be destroyed again? And 2nd: from the normal people's perspective, after an inverted is brought back to life because reversed time, and walks backwards into the time turning machine: what happens? After they come out unreversed, they aren't reversed anymore, so do they go into the machine again? That would cause an infinite loop. See what makes things so complicated?

The inverted soldiers in the pincer movement would have to wait until after the battle is over, to leap into their turnstile and be reversed, to then fight backwards in time through the attack that just happened. Which seems pretty daft if you even think about it slightly, as you're basically wasting half of the army "sitting on their hands" and waiting until afterwards to invert themselves, rather than just sending everyone in to attack as one big group and having an even greater numeric superiority over Sator's men.

Your second question makes no sense. If you observe an inverted person walking backward into a turnstile, their un-inverted past-self will be simultaneously entering the other half of the turnstile, and they will both seemingly vanish "into the past". (Think about when sator enters turnstile at freeport after car chase). If that same person un-inverted in THEIR future, then a third instance of them will also exist in the observers time frame.
