They just wanted him to be threatening to them, didn't matter if it made any sense at all. +Paul Dennett Well... I guess..... Yeah I got nothing. John Connor exists because his mum and dad hooked up. Terminator John Connor can therefor not kill his mum and dad before he is born without completely fucking up... well everything really. 13:35 from what I understand, this actually *is* how helicopters work, to some extent. helicopters *can* coast (albeit not nearly as well as planes), despite what most people think. for example, when a helicopter loses power high up in the air, and if the pilot steers with the proper technique, the air flowing over the helicopter as it falls will actually “auto-rotate” the blades enough to still move the helicopter in a relatively forward direction, and/or left and right. although this movie demonstrates this in an extremely exaggerated and ham-handed way, it’s definitely still possible.

Jai Courtney *_sucks_* as Kyle Reese, not only did he even look anything like Reese in the '84 film - even physically, he looks too muscular compared to Biehn - but he doesn't even try to mimic Biehn's mannerisms in the orig, he always has that same stern look, like as if he's trying to act like a Terminator. Hell, I could perfectly mimic Biehn's Reese performance down to a T, and this is coming from a huge Michael Biehn fan. Another problem I have is that Courtney's Reese seems to be too invincible, what made Biehn's Reese appealing, to me, is that he was an ordinary human soldier who gets wounded and bleeds, he's got scars all over him. After being shot in the climax, he obviously is shown falling down sometimes from the wound.

I can't say anything for this new timeline, but in the original, the T-1000 was a prototype (stated in T2). And Skynet specifically aborted the idea of building more because they proved to be very adept at learning (I believe this was stated in the Sarah Connor Chronicles?) Given Skynet's demonstrable wariness of allowing T-800s to study and learn from their environment (a plot point in T2), extending that fear to a *much smarter and more dangerous* T-1000 makes sense in all the right ways.

It's also disrespectful to the original characters. Sarah and Kyle were originally played as tough-but-damaged people whose experiences had permanently shaped them for the worse. Remember Kyle saying "Nobody goes home. Nobody else comes through. It's just him... and me."? The intense glare he gives Silberman embodies everything about the *hell* he's been through. Sarah and Kyle are *not* squeaky-clean badasses holding big guns and spouting insipid one liners ("rule this!") like they're in some shitty sci-fi disaster/alien invasion movie rated PG . They certainly did *not* respond to combat with that sense of self-aware mirth reserved for main characters who know they're in no danger (because their names are on the cover).

Crazy how this and Salvation had ideas for trilogy's and neither happened. I know one of the big problems people had with Salvation was that it didn't represent the future we had seen in the 1st two movies. I didn't mind it as I felt the 2nd would have been the proper war with the storyline of capturing a T101 and reprogramming it, finding out about the time portal and sending Reese back and the Terminator to the two times, then the 3rd movie going up against Skynet. As for this movie, have zero idea what the plan was for the sequels. I tried rewatching this the other day and just the way they talk to each other is so wrong. I'm worried about Dark fate being similar.

I never thought another Terminator movie could make T3 seem well written, and also take away the title of worst Terminator movie ever. They should have at minimum brought in a Dr.Who writer with Matt Smith, and made the multiple time travel jumps and conflicting timelines clearer

@@judgewilson2410 Salvation was the logical next step in the Terminator franchise after T2: Judgement Day, regardless of how you felt about the film itself. T3 was a completely unnecessary retread of T2 minus any of the grit and heart of the former. Genisys is its own nonsensical reboot that nobody wanted. Now Dark Fate is yet *ANOTHER* reboot that nobody asked for, that appears to be, like T3, another beat for beat retread of T2... except it's all woke now. In short, Terminator, T2, and Salvation is your logical trilogy.

0:50 In the original movie, the bar code brand was on his right forearm. Not that continuity means anything anymore. Granted, that might not be Kyle Reese's left forearm in that scene, but it just seems like machines would prefer consistency, so they'd brand the bar code onto the same arm. The only time they'd differ from that is if a person was missing their right arm. 3:09 Two points. One: Michael Biehn can act circles around Jai Courtney. And two: Why would that particular T-1000 just happen to also be disguised as a cop other than fan service? 7:17 Jai's Reese's scars are completely different from Mike's. That doesn't make sense because that's "supposed" to be the Reese we're familiar with (yeah, right) which means his scars should be the same because everything he went through up until he went back to 1984 from 2029 was as it was in the "original" timeline. And by that, I mean the timeline of the first movie. 11:00 The inside joke might be that Arnie was originally supposed to play Reese (and kinda sorta did in T2). 11:21 * *insert GIR's head explody* * 15:53 Callback to T2. You know a saga has gone "franchise" when it can't even do callbacks right. 15:58 Most likely seven or eight (maximum of nine judging by the flush-fit magazine tube). Hard to tell exactly what make and model it is.

+Venom HD It was in the original timeline or to be more exact it was pushed back roughly a decade (T3). However AllThingsLemon is correct, in this timeline judgement day should have occurred already (with the intro stating it occurs in 1997 and genisys goes live in 2017). Except the movie attempts to write it's way out of it with a half assed "oh the timelines been altered so judgement day is now in 2017" excuse.

Enjoyed the nostalgia emensley. Its fun. Yeah, mayne they could have had a different actor for biehns character, being that those soldiers were malnourished because of how they were living because of skynet when john sent him back. Still fun though. My 12 y.o wants to see the previous 4 now. Everything can vhange when you mess with time. They did the best they could with what they have, I enjoyed it.

I mostly enjoyed the film until just after the point where Sarah says "come with me if you want to live". After that it descended into a typically atrocious action movie. The modern type of "action" film is arguably the worst thing ever to happen to cinema. The disappointment was foreshadowed by the scene where Doctor Who turns up in a time-travel movie.

This movie made some terrible mistakes, really terrible mistakes with the writing, but I want to fire the guy who thought it was okay to put Jai Courtney in a veteran soldier. Sarah Connor and Reese were the worst characters in this series. I'm sorry, by characters, I meant actors. They were just... so bad, bland, and unbelievable. The girl from games of thrones is mediocre at best, but in this, she is barely better than a high school play actor. And the guy who plays Reese... sigh... But yeah, I would have probably preferred to watch what Arnold did for the last 18 years in the movie... as opposed to the actual movie. That would have been more interesting than what we got.
