Let's be honest. Nobody who went to watch this movie went to watch it for the plot. We watched it to see the most over-the-top, batshit crazy, totally cliche, and testosterone filled badassness that is an entire action movie with a cast made up of the most badass action stars ever. And it was awesome... and no one cared. But damn it's funny to see how many things the writers overlooked while making this the most over-the-top, batshit crazy, totally cliche, and testosterone filled badassness movie we've seen in forever.

And this cannot be made more clear when Terry Crews Tells Arnold "you'll be terminated", Arnold says "I'll be back" twice and "Yippee ki yay" To Bruce Willis. These are obvious call outs to the movies that made them famous as action stars, and The Expendables is not trying to hide that one single bit. They even have Chuck Norris tell a freaking Chuck Norris joke!

Why people lie to themselves calling this movie a parody when no one in the cast, the director or even Stallone say that it was a parody, they really think that is a serious movie with a serious and complex storyline.
@Kryptonater199410 жыл бұрын
Because it is so blatantly a parody they don't need to spell it out, its satire of the movies' most of them are famous for. Why do you think there are so many inside jokes and cheesy scenes with Arnie and Willis; the film has fun, like Pacific Rim, hell when I was a kid back in the late 80's it was a dream for some of these guys to appear in the same movie, and I would have paid to have seen Stallone, Willis and Arnold mowing down bad guys indiscriminately with big guns. I enjoy clever films such as The Machinist, V for Vendetta, Fight Club, Donnie Darko etc But sometimes you just wanna see classic action heroes quipping silly lines and mowing down bad guys because they are bad, Van Damme is called Vilain for Christ's sake! XD

I enjoyed the hell out of the Expendables movies. Of course that's because I accept them for what they are instead of trying to compare them to other genres of movies. If you're a fan of 80's action movies then you'll absolutely adore the Expendables. Hell, if you just go in with the mindset that it's going to be like an 80's action movie you'll probably have fun, even if you're not a major fan of them. However, if you go in expecting Oscar worthy performances and a Citizen Kane plot you'll be severely upset. I mean, the people who complain about it being "mindless" and whatnot need to stop. That's like going to see a Disney movie and complaining that there's too much "kid stuff".
@davidmitchell27614 жыл бұрын
it's a movie for people to enjoy some mindless nostalgia. Its escapism just like anything else , but if you weren't an 80s alpha male baby it probably just isn't your particular flavor of nostalgia.

So true. He's willing to kill his own henchmen which I presume at least some of them must be fighting men. And, you don't get to be the head of a criminal syndicate in Russia without killing "fighting men". And dude, you're a villain and here are people who want to stop you and will have more of a reason now, why not kill them!? Just ugh! I want to make a movie where the bad guy doesn't necessarily win but at least kills people when given the opportunity and like in real life, other good guys have to pick up the torch or just don't find themselves in stupidly dangerous situations that shouldn't happen considering all the technology they purportedly have! You can have a rocket launcher but not a machine to detect incoming aircraft? Just ugh. That's why Die Hard (the original) was cool (I know it isn't perfect) but most of what happened was withing the scope of plausible reality not all though. There are some BS moments in there but it is an action movie after all.

Here's what I wonder: In the first movie, Arnold and Sly meet with Willis to see who gets the job; Arnie backs out so Sly takes it. Presumably if Arnold had taken the job, he would have brought his team of badasses to the island to shoot the place up just like Sly did. Well now in THIS movie, here's Arnold trapped in some jungle so Sly's gang can rescue him. So WHERE'S ARNIE'S TEAM? ARE THEY BUSY? WHY ARE THEY NOT RESCUING THEIR LEADER/EMPLOYER?

I mean I dont disagree re: the films desire for facts being low, however, it's perfectly possible there is a bulgar/ukrainian mix, considering: 1) they're both slavic peoples/languages 2) while Romania is slapped in between them now, there's still a relatively small water & land journey at the thinnest point 3) the Bulgars, as a people migrated through the Ukraine to reach Bulgaria 4) from about the 15th to the 19th centuries the regions of the Ukraine & Bulgaria have bordered each other through numerous superpowers (the Ottoman Empire, Lithuania, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Russian Empire) meaning these areas were prone to forced re-settlement and migration as a result of the lands constantly changing sovereignty (I think "the Ukraine" translates to something like "the middleground" even to emphasize this) 5) as a result of the above factors, there's still a not insignificant population of bulgarians in the Ukraine.... Meaning its perfectly possibly for a cross-language... there might even be one, although I'm not saying there is because I dont know.
@eltoro7474 жыл бұрын
@@anthomer441 Your theory is wrong. You know how I know - because there is NO such a "cross between ukranian and bulgarian dialect". It doesn't even make sense, it is like claiming there is a cross between italian and french because they are both romance languages. (Also the language the Bulgars spoke was not slavic and is extinct.)

@renendarkfire9 жыл бұрын
+TheCephalon I came here to say the same thing.
@Zamolxes778 жыл бұрын
+incarnedine It is due to gyroscope like effect. The front wheel spins - its basically a gyroscope, meaning it will resist outside forces trying to change its state. So as long as the bike doesn't suffer some sort of sharp impact, it will keep going forward and straight.

Superman13195 Expendables was a great movie. It had flaws, yes, but it was good action. Expendables 2 focused too much on the inside jokes and the action scenes were largely like in this video: good guys shooting, then bad guys falling over. I think the difference is the first movie tried to play itself straight and this movie didn't take itself seriously at all. Some good action, still, but not nearly as good as the first. Number three looks good in the previews, but we'll have to see...

To everyone who claims to love this movie: congratulations, now Hollywood knows that they no longer have to give a shit because people are too dumb to care about things like characters, plot, physics, or even real humor.
