So she goes and finds appleland because Athena, the robot girl who you know, is working years and years after she was kicked out of appleland gives her a magical pin, and the random ass girl( I'll just call her rag) decides oh lemme go on this random ass adventure (Raa) to find out the fuck this random pin is, even if it could have just been a mistake when she got released (she got under arrest for denying NASA is bankrupt), so they go to appleland, and the guy who bitches about evil humans does evil stuff, cuz you know, it's apple land, they brutally take over appleland, murder every citizen, and then they rip every genius from their lives and psychologically force them to go to appleland! role credits!

I think Clooney help ruin this movie like he ruined every movie he was in. I will never get why is he considered an A lister, he is just not believable and always looks like a rapist, a perverted uncle that just can't seem to keep his hands to himself. Just don't put him near any little girls. He's "ok" in movies with Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock and was good in ER, but that's about it.

So.... They just murdered four innocent dudes on-screen. Pretty violently, too. How did this get its rating?
@ithildins
@ithildins 8 жыл бұрын
+OBPguy I think the MPAA system has something about violence and death being okay as long as there's not too much blood or something. A tiny injury or scratch with blood effects would be okay and pass probably on a G-level because no death. People getting vapourised cleanly to kill them, fade-to-black crushed to death, and/or robots "shutting down" - while death-related is okay because you don't see a lot of up-close blood and guts everywhere. PG while normally targeted more for kids does literally mean: Parental Guidance. It allows a bit of language (probably things like hell, ass, and damn) and violence (bloodless as possible), but as long as no stronger language is used, there aren't massive amounts of violence, no one's horny or making sex jokes, no drugs, no strong abuse of any kind - the movie can probably get a PG rating. There are most likely exceptions - maybe a "shit" might find itself in a PG movie if no one caught it because of the decade or it was in the background or something (I'm looking at you, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Back to the Future), or movies might have a higher rating due to the target audience. But yeah - PG can get away with a lot of stuff as much as PG-13 can get away with a lot of stuff and still maintain their rating goal - once you know which lines you need to avoid crossing - you can do whatever the hell you want then tell the board you technically followed their rules. If no rules are broken/they can't prove you broke the rules - then you get your rating. I mean, Suicide Squad is going to get a PG-13 rating - seriously? A movie with Arkham criminals as the main characters and it's not R - are you freaking kidding me? I'm going to enjoy the CinemaSins video to that movie when it comes out. DC Comics - ding!

Honestly, I had fun watching this movie. The simulation of Tomorrowland itself looked really cool, I liked its message on creativity and imagination, but Athena for me was the best part of the whole movie. Maybe it's because she's named after my favorite greek goddess, or more accurately, she's shown as a somewhat sassy robot character, and I'm a sucker for those.

+fenrirdies It's actually fairly spot on. This movie seems like they made a paradigm shift in how they edited the story all throughout the film. Zero consistency. Budgetary constraints, i'.e. them only being in "Tomorrowland" all of 15 minutes. Not to mention gaping plotholes. All that happened in Destiny's development as well, the main reason being that Bungie ran out of time, and had to make a patchwork frankenstein story to compensate.

Huge plot hole? Film is convincing us that Clooney got kicked out from Tomorrowland for building something terrible. He acts like he feels guilty and believes his punishment is justified because his creation is something that shouldn't have been built... It ends up that according to his knowledge all he ever did was building a machine that can predict the future, and neither him or the machine are to be blamed because it ended up predicting an undesired future. So according to the general knowledge he is the greatest inventor of Tomorrowland, and he got kicked out why exactly?

RuleofVicus technically man does have the ability, but not for the same reasons that the liberal and mainstream media are telling us, they tell us it's co and co2 emissions, pollution, and CFCs causing the so called climate change, that is all false and is a lie that is used to brainwash the public in to using vehicles and items that can be destroyed by an EMP and to cover up the HAARP program which stands for High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program which shoots beams of high frequency energy into the ionosphere and is used by the military for weather control, what it does is push the ionosphere out into space so the that creates a void in our atmosphere so then our atmosphere fills in the void and that changes the flow of the jet stream and can cause severe droughts, hurricanes, tornados, blizzards, and how they do it is point the beams using geometry in an area where they want the jet stream to go which causes whatever they want to happen, it was made by Bill Clinton for weather control, population control and a weapon of mass destruction, but not too long ago the Russians have got their hands on the technology and the information and since then they've been doing their own research, it's believed by some that they are responsible for Americas droughts, but keep in mind, it's not putins doings, since the station is under ultranationalist control, and the Russian government is controlled by the loyalist party, but mark my words the ultranationalists are going to seize power and will starts world war 3

Everytime Disney comes out with a movie based on Disneyland attractions, they always end up having such amazing results! I've seen that with movies like Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, and, of course, Tomorrowland, and the story elements, set designs, and characters are always very sophisticated and original! That's what I love about Disney's film adaptations of Disneyland attractions! They're even better when they're live-action movies!

(For example, they never do explain how Clooney's character got exiled in the first place, other than that it was somehow connected to his help building the future-predictcing tower thing. Or how Clooney could be responsible for single-handedly coming up with the tower's programming yet not realize it was also being used to broadcast despair to earth.) So yeah. It actually makes less sense than the sins guys let on. It has nice visuals, at least?

+Kaity Bayne 1) The fact that it's a prerecorded advertisement DING 2) The prerecorded advertisement is build around you walking a pretty exact path DING 3) Somehow, both people who we knew touched the pin DID walk it DING 4) If it resets you to the same place then why are the people all in slightly different spots? DING 5) If it's a prerecorded advertisement then why are multiple people shown each other in it? Wouldn't that mess a lot of things up considering it's clearly designed for one person? DING Overall, the explanations only add more sins. And if you want to nitpick, then he missed tons of things. Like how was the recruiter able to resist programming? Why did they kick Clooney out for building the death clock that made them realize they should close down the borders? Why did Clooney keep tracking the percentage on a live feed when he thought there was no chance? Why did the death clock only respond to one person right in front of it at that exact moment only rather than taking it into account from its creation? That just shows that it's inaccurate to begin with. And the death clock is pointless anyway, it counts down to the static, not as he describes it the exact moment everyone dies. And why would there be an exact moment where things suddenly goes bad so fast that everyone will know, but it will be too late to save? Oh and my favorite, Clooney could have most likely easily saved the recruiter bot with the time given.

I think Tomorrowland wasn't a _bad_ film, but I think it was so over the top preachy that it made me roll my eyes multiple times and I hate that, especially because I do agree with the anti-cynicism message. But on the bright side, it was an original story (rare in the world of today) and the action scenes were really fun, like the one in the house and in the toy store. Brad Bird seems to be really good at character-driven action scenes with interesting gimmicks. So I'd watch the film again just to see those fun action scenes.

God, this movie was such wasted potential! I thought they were going to explore Tomorrowland throughout like _Meet the Robinsons_! Instead, it was just another "Save the planet!" story -- and a boring one, too! When the ending came with all the people getting the pin and going to Tomorrowland, I thought, _This is what the movie should have been like the whole time_! _Mad Max: Fury Road_, a post-apocalyptic film, not only had better writing, but some hope spots for a better future!

Totally agree. I liked the whole "why can't we have an awesome outlook on the future like we did 50 years ago?" concept, but the weird angle of the story took a great idea and made it overly convoluted. I still thought it was okay, but it definitely could have been done WAY better.

I believe Tomorrowland is rather confusing because it's supposed to reflect Casey's experience, so we learn things as Casey learns things. Remember when the storyteller in the beginning switched from Frank to Casey? Nevertheless, you were really funny finding confusing and/or ironic details, yet Tomorrowland in my opinion is practically flawless, inspiring and my #1 favorite movie of all time.

Jonathan scott Well if you play video games it's basically a light hearted Bioshock, sort of different. They discover an alternate dimension and build a city there(Tomorrowland). They invite only the brightest inventors and creators to make a better world. They sometimes help Earth as well. (Are people actually having a hard time understand this? They basically spell it out.) As for the future reading machine...thing. There are many issues when making time travel a thing in a movie so explaining that is nothing but subjective to your own views on it. But it basically made people believe that the apocalypse was coming and in this movie belief is powerful enough to affect the actual universe, so in turn the world would come to an end if enough people believe it. (Akin to our own world.)

I don't think the movie is bad. It's a little over the top at times, but I think Brad Bird and the writers really put his heart into this movie and it shows. I get why people don't like it, but I think it was better than many gave credit and it should of done better. The worst part is that this is one of the only films Disney or any other major studio has made recently that isn't a reboot, a sequel, or a remake. Brad Bird passed on Star Wars to direct this and that was his reason. There are few movies coming out these days that aren't based on an existing work, at least from the major studios.

Anyone else got bioshock flashbacks from watching this? Think about it. Science focused society built around the 1950's where all the world's greatest artists, scientists and engineers can go hog wild with their experiments. One major invention brings the city to ruin! The only difference is someone looked at tomorrowland and thought they just need to be optimistic and nothing would go wrong

The pin is supposed to be an advert, inviting people in, so why do they have to physically move anywhere to see the rest of it? If it's an advert, why are all the people watching it starting off in slightly different places yet all in the same field, regardless of where they are in the real world. Frank talks about the 'we're waiting for you' invite at the rocket, but what if you went into the pin vision and didn't choose to go that way, what if you ended up in the public toilets instead?

This whole movie felt like something Disney's live action division rejected back in the 70's-80's because it wasn't good enough and then someone decided they could make it now because special effects caught up...except, the effects are all terribly bad, and the story is still awful as well. If that was the scenario. I know it wasn't, but it sure feels like it.

@@extropiantranshuman most of the film. I realize this was 5 years ago and I might've over-exaggerated saying "the effect were *ALL* terribly bad. Especially with how a lot of modern stuff has had a large amount of trashy CGI for every solid or really good use of it there's 10 others being lazy with it as can be. I'd call this film lazy, and also just a mess of random events, along with being kinda boring and generic. Really no different from Jungle Cruise except Jungle Cruise for the most part looked fine was also very lazy and uninspired, along just like the haunted mansion movie. Also it always pissed me off that tomorrowland is partially responsible for a sequel to tron legacy not being made (and if they do it'll probably be a total reboot or a "soft reboot"). As if this movie excited very many when Tron got the entire "underground" of fans ready (and no, I DO NOT understand the "Clue" criticism he looked just fine he's a other world/cyber world creation who cares if he looks slightly creepy he's literally lost his cybernetic mind).
@extropiantranshuman
@extropiantranshuman 2 жыл бұрын
@@oneandonlysound3453 I think it's good to separate one movie from another. I don't think the cgi was bad in this movie - it might've just been poorly placed and utilized at most? I figured and thought it was funny to reply to a 5 year old post, but I don't care about dates like others. It's all progression. I didn't watch the jungle cruise - at least tomorrowland had a drawing trailer. The haunted mansion movie wasn't entirely bad - it was passable, but not great. I can't remember, but remember dumb moments. I felt tomorrowland was very inspired - and tried to be creative with its story playing - starting a plot in the middle of the movie. If this movie was bad, then why did Logan get praise when it was the same thing? It's because that one had violence and this one took the heat for other movies. THe problem with Tron started with Tron and yes, this could've been the savior - but honestly - I haven't seen Disney pull out any futuristic movie and make it work - Marvel doesn't count - as that's from the comic book past. Maybe those people care more about the future than newer generations? I mean if you go way back - it's tomorrowland at disneyland that went to defunctland that started this spiral. No more world fair as the person in the video explained. Not sure what you mean by Clue - sounds like a character in Tomorrowland, but somehow I feel you're relating it to the movie Clue. Anyway, it's not just Tron, etc. that took heat for movie tanking - it's other reality-applying, sci-fi movies that took the heat too - like blackhat. People just don't want to think about the future in their real life - even though we live in the 21st century. Sorry if this was too long - I love getting ranty with other ranters.

Flawed as it is, i do like this movie's ambitions, trying to find motivation for positive change and innovation in a cynical world. And I think Nix's monologue is one of the smartest scenes in a Disney movie to date. But i suppose it's a tough sell, since the film is a little hard to classify. But overall it's an underrated work, worth seeing once. Sometimes I wonder if this movie was designed to evoke the spirit of Disney's Epcot ambitions.
