When this movie came out in 1972, people today do not realize how controversial it was. Frank talk about sex was uncommon in popular media. The book that the movie was based on was a best seller. It was a soft porn guide to sex. But the movie had nothing to do with the book. It is a bunch of short skits written by Allen on topics related to sex, a subject always fascinated Allen. It is a mostly forgotten comedy classic.

I saw this as part of a double feature with Blazing Saddles with my dad and sister during a summer in Phoenix when our AC went out. Great memory. Another one of the skits involved a genetically altered giant boob that killed people and was captured in a giant bra.

We' 4 kids and our hilarrrrrious awesome ma ma and hilarious aunt, ( only 4 yrs my twin + Is senior) were all bundled in happily n cozily at the DRIVE-INS watching this WHEN the scene with the GIANT boob showed up on the gigantic SCREEN u can just imagine the hullabaloo in our beach wagon.🤣😂💥‼️ We were screaming and laughing on the top of our lungs all of us, along with just about every other car, including cars who were parked at 2 other screens. I was literally on the car floor on my back 🤣crying from being in hysterics , w our hilarious mama trying to cover our eyes while she was screaming n laughing😂😅💥‼️ My aunt had + has a very loud screech n her screaming laughing was making me more hysterical. There were tons of drive-ins around in the 70s .. Even in my lil state we had 33 to choose from !;we, went all the time weekly at LEAST + absolutely loved it The only prob was picking which one to go to that night The one we went to that particular night was directly on the hi way and all I could picture was truckers going by + their reaction as we WERE hearing plenty of truck horns blar ING from the hi way suddenly😂😅💥‼️ Never mind poor unsuspecting families ( like us 🤭😂🤣🤣😂😅😆!!!!) Pure hilarity was the order of the night, ESP the night we saw this charmimg gem !! We and the cars around us were in hysterics throughout this movie the giant boob chasing ppl etc , in particular . Rolling ACROSS the giant OUTDOOR screen made it even crazier🤭🤣😂😂😅😆☮️🌕✨🌛

Scenarios like this were clearly dreamt up by people who had nothing to read while going to the bathroom and just stared off into space thinking about whatever popped into their head. Woody Allen really pioneered the idea of making humor complex and thought provoking. Basically laying down the groundwork for dark comedy, satire, and intellectual humor.

No, I don't think it would be nearly as funny. It would come across as complaining. It could be funny if there were any really light-hearted comediennes, but somehow it just never comes across that way. If I did it it would be like "does he know what he's doing?
