Emotional and mental health is right. The scariest thing I experienced with menopause was the foggy brain. I always could remember phone numbers, people’s names, super helpful at work. But entering menopause I experienced this brain fog like I was starting dementia. I mentioned it to my coworker that was few years older than me and she laughed and said oh yes, I know all about that and it will lift after about a year. It put me at ease and she was right. It lifted after about 18 months for me.

So it was trauma on top of stress and menopause I felt like I was loosing my mind and no one would advice me or suport me some woman are really evil and cruel. I hope when they get menopause, they lose their sanity for the things they did to me. Amen

Thank u. I'm going through this. The anxiety and insomnia is crazy. Also, I'm so glad you mentioned the ADHD connection. I experienced this too. I've experienced so many symptoms. No hot flashes but EVERYTHING ELSE. It's not just hot flashes. It's been severe including erratic sugar & BP, heart flutters & issues. Nerve issues. Extreme reactions to food, meds, etc. So scary. I wish people wouldn't laugh about Menopause. It can be so hard physically, emotionally, mentally, etc. If u are dealing with another serious illness people don't laugh about it. So don't laugh about this. It can be hell.

I’ve tried to bring it up with my grandmother and my mother, and both deny that it even exists. 🤦🏼‍♀ None of my friends talk about it I have questions, but no one to turn t, and I know I can’t be the only one about to exit her 40s and feeling this thing. 😭

This was a great discussion. I’m glad we’re talking about menopause because there is soo much to learn. I’ve heard a good diet plays a role on having less symptoms. I’ve experienced the weight gain, (but I lost the weight that I gained) and anxiety. The mood swings and hot flashes for me was minimal. Tfs, Ali is hilarious. 😂

I am SOOO glad she mentioned the ADHD brain and menopause’s effects. Doctors won’t prescribe hormones for the brain fog alone and now I realize that many things that were declining could have been prevented with HRT but couldn’t get them after asking for years in my conservative health system! Finally started HRT and have gotten so much relief! But wish I could have started sooner. 😢

I think the hardest part for me is going through it and not turning to hormone replacement therapy. I know that it works for some women but I saw what it did to my sister and I decided to opt out and allow my body to do whatever it does and tough through it. However, I did do other more holistic approaches that worked for me like making diet changes and doing yoga. I tried to develop a more mind/body connection with regard to it. Again, this worked for me but every woman is different when it comes to menopause. My mother never had even one symptom, she sailed right through it. I remember many times before she passed telling her how much I envied her for her good fortune...🕉️

You are never through it you may be less symptomatic, but osteoporosis, brain health and cardiovascular problems may continue for the rest of your life. 1 out of 4 woman die of a heart attack over 50 in this country as well. 2/3 of all women get dementia due to estrogen loss as well!! When you visit a nursing home there are many more women than men with Alzheimers. It is a sad fact :*( We are outliving our ovaries as the average death in early 1900s was 49- 52 for woman. With all the advances in medicine we are living, much longer.

@@MultiSUNFLOWER18 I stopped having a period for quite a few years in my mid 30s. I was very healthy and active and an avid runner. I went to many doctors who said that my weight was fine and that no I was not in perimenopause, but if I wanted to have a period I could take some kind of bio, identical, hormone pill, or progesterone, then all of a sudden in my four days it came back. And it was different than when it had left me. All of a sudden I was bleeding a lot very heavy and very heavy cramping. . It was all the PMS bullshit that I never experienced before times 100 now I’m in my late 40s and wondering when the other changes gonna happen. I once had a hot flash so bad that I shoved a 5 lbs bag of ice up my t-shirt in the middle of a Fry's grocery store. To this day I am a little surprised that the ice didn't melt. BTW: Traditional Medicinals used to make a wonderful tea for menopausal symptoms called "Women's Liberty," but they stopped because it wasn't selling well. It never occurred to them to just change the name to something less bloody stupid; they just dropped it from their catalog. I'm trying to start a campaign to pressure them to bring it back. Their contact information can be googled.

mmmm, the fact that females experience menopause should shed some light on gender politics and the idea that men and women are the same. I believe that men and women should have equal rights, which we already do in most civilised nations but male and female are fundamentally different physically and mentally, of course there are exceptions, but exceptions should not be made/used as facts. Females should fight for special treatments and understanding and NOT be treated same as men.

I think for the gay community that wants to be woman well guess what you will never be a full ass woman because getting a period, having flashes, getting menopause and having the power to give birth is one of the mightiest gifts god has given us real woman to handle all those stages in life, including raising a whole lamb of rasckels in our homes. Amen to being a woman.
