You should feel bad for both of them because yeah flare less vehicles are gonna get shafted by it but, the all aspect AIM-9p’s are a rank 4 mod so you are essentially a 8.7 fighting 9.3/9.7/10.3/sometimes 10.3+ aircraft until you get the modification

The 2nd Best. The F-14D’s AN/APG-71 is pretty clearly miles ahead any other mechanical radar in the world. It’s basically the AWG-9 and the F-15Es AN/APG-70 mixed together with 15% better processing power and range. It’s a monster and the AtG modes are exceptional as well. Not to mention it’s conjunction with the IRST and TCS system.

oh i thought the irst switch thing is technically not a bug but a quirk of the radar-mode-autoswitch thing they added several updates ago, only made more obvious and frequent because of the poorly modeled radar

A big factor in the design was the ability to turn quickly at high altitude and high speed to get in to the notch asap. Also das Österreichische Bundesheer has tested the real max speed at 2505 km/h (then chickend out), also interesting is the war emergency power (WEP) for the engine is actualy 102 KN/each, but its hardly used in real life because of the increase in maintenance time and cost.

Plus the fact that the Eurofighter already can accelerate during 9g turns at 900kph+ on base 90kNx2 reheat and has the highest acceleration and climb rate of any fighter jet including the F-22.

The weird Captor-M has killed me so often... It won't lock the enemy in a head-on, then it won't track the enemy reliably. I've flown the German EF, which doesn't get IRST (stupid Luftwaffle not ordering it) and I still couldn't spool up my missile, even with a solid lock on a target. Its been kinda frustrating and at close range the Rafale is just the better plane imo, the MICAs pull extremely hard and track quite reliable, in comparison launching an AIM-120 feels like letting off a cruise ship.

6:56 they won’t increase IRST range. Like look, Soviet IRST all have 100km detection range and 70km lock range irl for the targets that are flying against the sky from any aspect except for pure head-on (source - MiG-29 and Su-27 manual) and after 2 years we still have that 30km cap for rear aspect and 10km for front aspect so I don’t think they’ll treat EF’s or Rafale’s IRST differently

I think the Eurofighter is ina a weird spot rn because it doesn’t get the iris t which is understandable, it’s way too good for the game but it doesn’t have a close range ir missile which makes it more of a sniper compared to something like the rafale that does its job better at closer ranges

How on earth is the eurofighter the best plane in a 1v1? Sure it beats everything in a sustained fight but that never happens between two skilled pilots, against a rafale the euro doesnt stand a chance for the first one or two turns and thats all it takes as the rafale has great missiles and a fantastic gun for close range, the MICAs and magic 2s dominate in close range while aim120s and aim9ms are awful. All a rafale needs to do is enter the merge slow, turn once and fire off a MICA and magic 2, the euro cant compete with the rafale in the very first turn and dies. Even if it somehow gets on target an aim120 or aim9m wont hit a HOABs launch and 20mm hispanos are better than the sorry excuse for a gun that the 27mm is.

The F-15 is generally considered faster than the Eurofighter Typhoon, with a top speed of Mach 2.5 compared to the Eurofighter's Mach 2.0; meaning the F-15 can reach higher speeds in a straight line.
