After 5 years of practice I just sold my first engraved project. I've chosen to take one of the best engraving lessons in life due to lack of time. The hard way to get started engraving. These videos make me happy to see especially when Lindsay Engraving Tools are in them because I've used Lindsay for the past 3 years and he really stands behind his product and just the sounds of the impact the tool makes inspires me to continue pushing myself to be better. Highly recommend this art to anyone.👍

Hello I started learning how to make Jewelery watching youtube videos how to Sadler silver and gold, stone setting but I have always had a fascination with engraving. I purchased my tools from Rio grand they have the best stuff, unless I win the lottery it’s out of reach. Great video hope to see more.

Looking forward to seeing more from this! When I was in school I hated using the microscope, so I just switched to using my cell phone propped up on an Armature.

Hi- I have invested in a cheep microscope- cheep graver ball- and have been practicing hamd graving. I purchased a very used Gessewein on ebay and rehabbed it- new jars, belt, hoses, etc. BUT- it doesnt have the power I see wirh newer gravers. I am strongly considereing purchasing the Linsey system.

Hi Shane. I just purchased my first power assist graver by Steve Lindsay. I purchased it from Rio. Unfortunately, no one has a specific information about the connections to the compressor. So how do I take this system and connect it to my silent air compressor? After two weeks of digging and talking to my friends that jewelers and stone setters; I have found that each one of them had handpiece failures because no one recommended a 3 stage filter that’s fairly inexpensive. Everything all together is still less expensive than GRS.

hi, could you go more into sharpening and shaping the engravers. i've had to reshape almost all the gravers that i get, so they don't just dig into the piece.

Just a long shot. I’ve recently taken up making Claddagh rings ,but getting to engrave 3 straight lines to make four fingers of the hand is a challenge . Can you recommend a graver ? And maybe a technique please. As you may deduce I am a beginner in engraving . Thanks Rio Grand

Thank you for the question! Here is a response from our tech team: GRS® High-Speed Steel Quick-Change Onglette Gravers - RioGrande I prefer to mount my gravers in the following, Quick-Change Manual Graver Handle with Three Tool Holders - RioGrande The technic is the same as any other graver, just push it through the metal. I hope this information has been helpful.

What metal is it that is so easy to just carve out like that?
@sixtonshark2854 Жыл бұрын
well maintained tools made of quality steel make cutting look easy. I would guess that it's brass in the video, but keep in mind that engraving is also employed in printing and gunsmithing, which use very hard metals indeed.

@@jakeasinjake3347 they can be but I’m a jeweler and I know other people who do it as a hobby. Working with copper or silver and basic hand tools is a way to enter the field and learn skills without breaking the bank. Start small and add as you learn. If you really want to learn to work on jewelry then find a jewelry trade or repair shop and ask for a job or trade work for training.

Lol, nah, you don't. The ball vise can be replaced with a 360 vise + thermoplastic. I got one for 33 dollars, thermoplastic's 4. the 120 degree is on ali for 15, and the machine is a couple of hundreds there too. Don't buy leica, leica is a luxury brand, there's microscopes on alibaba for 200-300 or just use your phone like that smart guy in the comments. I may be human, but I'm a smart human. :p America buys everything from China even as they yell about chinese, so you go straight to the source.

you have to know how to draw and design first. Unless you want to copy someone all the time. Engraving is not something you learn overnight. And, you may not have the talent. It's not like making jewelry. A bad engraving shows every design- or cutting flaw.

LOL, push graving takes WAY too much force, and usually will result in an accident at some point.
