Stacking coatings isn’t the same as multiple coats of the same product. With our coatings, you can stack the 3 year Graphene Ceramic Coating over our 5 and 8 year Ceramic coatings. Why would you want to do that? It gives you the benefits of the 5 or 8 year coatings, plus the characteristics of the 3 year Graphene coating. This means you’re getting extreme slickness, higher gloss AND water spot resistance. Plus enhanced self cleaning ability.
Here’s what you need to know about application.
There’s a window of opportunity to stack coatings, 2-8 hours. Before the 2 hour mark, the 3-year will damage the other coating you’ve already applied. In the window of opportunity (2-8 hours after applying that first layer of coating), the 2 mix together to become another coating - enhancing the properties of both. After 8 hours? Instead of combining the coating, you’re simply adding the 3-year coating OVER the other.

@@diydetailofficial What's the lowest temperature You can apply coatings ? I'm in Connecticut. It can become rather cold here. Despite the temperature being cold, I wouldn't mind trying Your coatings if I could. Will it be too cold? 20*-30*F?

I just used the 8+3 stack and I'm absolutely blown away. I'm a body and paint man and I always thought a good machine polish followed by a good quality wax was adequate, how wrong I was. Easy to use and like I say, absolutely mind blowing!

Just like Yvan and Nick say if you can put wax on a car you can do a ceramic coating. They have great content on what to do and how to do it! Just take your time and be methodical. When adding the 3 year on top it is an amazing experience as the applicator really does glide across the surface!

I’ve done the stack to several vehicles but the furthest back was about 2 months ago. Longevity will be based on how you maintain it and I use DIY Rinseless and will use their perforated synthetic decontamination towel along with iron remover when needed. I always have amazing results with all the DIY Products!

4K HDR is awesome! Almost as awesome as the stack! Still can't wait to try it out. Is the 8 year coating higher in solids content then the 5 year or 3 year? Is there more bias to one chemical (or multiple) in the 8 year vs the 5 and 3 year? For ex. more SiC or Polysilazane to make it longer wearing?

The 5 and 8 year contain the same ingredients ( Polysilazane, SiC, SiN, Si02) it’s the proportions and how they interact with the reactive blending that changes.

Hi guys, I just want to say thank you so much for your guys' useful products and helpful videos. I've been binging your videos over the past week and finally did my first rinseless wash, decontamination, polish, and ceramic coatings (The Stack) yesterday in my underground parking lot. I have a few questions though: 1) I noticed that my ceramic coating application pads still have that solvent smell and that greasy feel even after soaking them in a bucket of rinseless wash (256:1). Can I wash the application pads with something like Dawn to get rid of the smell and greasy feel? 2. What's my timeframe to fix high spots without polishing and then reapplying the ceramic coatings? Thanks again for your guys' hard work and dedication to making auto detailing easier for enthusiasts like myself 🙂

My apologies for a question that's probably been asked a million times, but what's the curing period for the 8 year coating? It is my understanding that it should stay dry for 24 hours and should not be washed for 2 weeks. I've also heard that I can use a rinseless wash after the initial 24 hour curing period, as long as I'm using ONLY a rinseless wash and NO other detergents (wheel cleaners, APC/degreaser, bug removers, etc)

We dont hear much about the 5 - 3 stack. What are the advantages and disadvantages between the 8 and 5 year. I have 2 cars. I have my pickup as my daily driver and a car I only use for nice weather and car shows. Am I better off using the 8-3 on my daily and using the 5-3 on what I use for mostly car shows because of the gloss factor?

Other than price and the extra time it takes (to some that's a con, to me it's not 😅) is there anything negative to the 8+3 year stack vs just applying the 8 year or just the 3 year? I know you've mentioned before that the 3 year, when applied on top of the 8 year in the stack method acts somewhat as a catalyst; does that make it fully cure faster than just a single 8 or 3 year coating? I'd still wait the 7 days, but I'm just curious if it speeds it up (or slows it down for that matter. Initial or full cure). Any benefit to waiting 14 days to wash vs 7? Thanks!

No negatives. It’s not a catalyst in that sense. The 2 coatings react together to form a different entity. In the 2-8 hour window you are not applying the 3 on top of the 8, instead you are applying it into the 8. No need to wait past 7 days

I just received an order that included Iron Remover, Ceramic Gloss, and the Decon Towel. I do not have access to a hose, so I will need to go to a wand wash to remove the Iron Remover. How long does Ceramic Gloss need to cure before it can get wet? I am trying to figure out if I should apply the Ceramic Gloss at the wand wash, or wait until I get back home and do a Rinseless Wash followed by the Ceramic Gloss. I live in Vancouver, so the chances of rain on the drive home are pretty high in the winter.

I think there would need to be a longevity test on this product to see what the end result will be as 8 year is a long time I have had some ceramic coatings last 1 year and I prep compound polish panel wipe follow the instructions to the letter. Longest I have gotten out of a ceramic coating max is 3 years and the only ceramic coating that seems to last is Mohs Gyeon. I live in a very cold damp wet part of the world snow ice you name it. So before I spend my money on the 8 year I would need to see an 8 year longevity test. I will keep buying Mohs Gyeon, now I have not tried the new formula so that will be this year I will try the new Gyeon formula. Definitely more needs to be done as regards to the longevity of the DIY DETAILING ceramic coatings compared to similar products as I would buy the 8 year but it costs a lot more than the competition for a single 30ml bottle of this 8 year ceramic bottle I mean if it works I would buy it but I need to see actual use case of this ceramic coating actually lasting 8 years before I would ever contemplate buying it as it says 8 years on the advertising so I would need to see the manufacturers warranty what is the warranty for the 8 year Diy Detailing ceramic bottle There is a guy comparing this DIY DETAILING 3 year against Mohs Gyeon. Interesting results and we are only 9 weeks into the longevity test, I know which one I will be buying..

It will enhance all qualities, including longevity. As a professional detailer it should be your highest priced package.

You can just buy the 8 year and 3 year coating to make the kit. Both Carzilla and TOC include the foam applicator pad with the coating. You just need some microfibers and some panel prep. They both have sales frequently.

That isn't a fair statement. It has been known for a long time that you cannot get maximum gloss and longevity out of a single product. Which is why folks have been doing this "stacking" thing with other brands. Yes, this is a product advertisement. However, I have found Yvan to be very fair and talk about ways to save on product usage like Iron remover. Like he says, most companies just want you to waste it and buy more. His knowledge is worth listening to. Therefore if he says it works then it is credible. VCP = Visibility + Credibility = Profitability.

The stack process is one we did extensive R&D on to get right. As noted by kir0nz, it’s common practice to apply multiple layers of, and combinations. We did our homework to insure users would actually benefit from doing this.
