I use a waterproof mat in my wire crate. I breed mini schnauzers. They start from day one in the crate with mom. They are used to it by the time the go home.

This is great. A perfect reminder, esp re the toilet then crating. I fed in the crate too, then fire cap gun and bang crate etc. Perfect to ensure not gunshy.

Is a wire crate ok it we buy a special cover & use the divider or should we just use the enclosed one? Do you crate your adult dogs?

We don't recommend wire crates, an enclosed one would be our recommendation. We do crate our adult dogs when we aren't in the house to supervise them.
