I plan to get into breeding spotty cresties with good structure in the future. As I just can't get enough of geckos with spots! This video couldn't have been uploaded at a more perfect time! It has been really helpful and informative. I have 2 spotty geckos so far. One male that's a patternleas dalmatian and one female that's a brindle super dalmatian. The male doesn't have as good of a crest as I'd like but I love his spots and clean look. I also like that his dorsal is better than the female's. The female has a good head structure but the dorsal at the neck looks slightly pinched. So I'm hoping to get the good traits of both in any future babies. How feasible do you think this is?

No problem at all, I’m glad you enjoyed! Thank you very much for the well wishes! As far as mixing those geckos, you very well could get a mix of the 2. You could have an infinite number of combos come out of the egg so that’s one of the reasons I love breeding them, you never know what could hatch!! I’ve had some babies look like the moms. Some look like the dads. Some look like a mix. And some that don’t look like either lol. It just depends! I have a few words of wisdom. I heard gecko junkie tell a story about how he got into breeding and he said that someone told him “the number of geckos you own doesn’t matter. It’s the quality of the animals that counts. If you buy $50 geckos, expect to sell $50 geckos. If you buy $1000 geckos, you’re going to produce $1000 geckos.” Quality is better than quality. What you put in is what you get out. Just my 2 cents on breeding haha

Do you typically keep more females or males for your Dal projects?

I would say more females than males. 40% males and 60% females I think getting a very nice male is important. But I also place a high priority on my females. I guess I’m saying quality matters over quantity of geckos lol. Hope that kinda helps!

Just off the top of my head, are you sure you have a male and female and not 2 females? How you’re incubating could also be an issue. The temperature could be an issue. I’d double check everything and make sure everything is up to par. If it is, you might just have a male that can’t reproduce. Hope that helps!

I love the dalmatian trait. Would you consider a crested with a lot of red and black spots but no yellow spots a confetti?
